to believe some if not all of the 9/11 conspiracy theories

NOTE: This is not meant to be offensive and if you suffered as a result of 9/11 you have my deepest sympathies it was a terrible event however it was caused.

Having watched a few documentaries on the conspiracy theories I am partially if not completely convinced all was not as it seemed. The fact that many witnesses that saw/heard things that didn't tie in with the official version have since died in suspicious circumstances doesn't help!

Very bad taste, thanks much.

RIP, Kathleen 'Kit' Faragher. You were the reason I got what was the best job in my life. You were so much fun on hikes.

I hope you are out there, climbing the peaks of your dreams. But you are missed here.

chandellina · 11/09/2010 21:59

i was responding to the OP but you sound just as crazy. i don't know where you live in the US that is "flooded" by homeless people, but i can say with certainty that there will be nearby shelters and healthcare programs, wherever you are.

chandellina · 11/09/2010 22:00

sorry - that was to csd

expatinscotland · 11/09/2010 22:00

Yes, well that's funny, because thousands of people, including a professor at GWU whose been my mother's friend for 46 years, saw that plane fly right over their cars, in rush hour traffic on the beltway, and into the building.

CarmenSanDiego · 11/09/2010 22:01

Chandellina, exactly. There are a whole lot of agencies and intelligence bureaus at work. I have no idea whether any of them knew about 9/11 in advance or were involved in how the events played out, but the fact of the Bin Ladens being removed so quickly along with several other oddities suggests that it wasn't a complete surprise.

I stand by the lives not being worth much. See my last post.

crisproll2 · 11/09/2010 22:06

Well mrsunreasonable that was a very poor explanation and certainly did not convince me that there was a conspiracy by anyone other than the hi-jackers/Al Queda.

People will speculate but I haven`t heard or read anything that convinces me.

I am watching the documentary just now on 4 and cannot begin to imagine what the victims and their families went through that day and the suffering that was caused.

expatinscotland · 11/09/2010 22:07

I'm sure Bin Laden's hiding in a bunker with JFK and Elvis.

Just like the commercial goes: 'California. It's full of nuts.'

Kaloki · 11/09/2010 22:08

Oh but that's so much less interesting expat, where's the entertainment value? Hmm

CarmenSanDiego · 11/09/2010 22:08

Gotta go out now but Chandellina.. The clue is in my name. Yes, the streets are flooded with homeless people. I was horrified when I went downtown recently and saw the car parks looking like dormitories - people in sleeping bags all the way around them. Literally dozens of people.

If lives were important, would the tobacco, firearm and pharmaceutical industries be so protected as they are now?

Tokyo: Fair enough, made a mistake on the plane model - but it still clearly isn't one. The nose is too long and skinny.

Ivy: There are slowed down pieces of that footage available but you never see more because it was taken from a security camera so frame-by-frame is all that's available.

Kaloki · 11/09/2010 22:09

ps. so sorry for your loss, I so hoped no one who lost anyone saw this thread :(

expatinscotland · 11/09/2010 22:11

Oh, I know, Kaloki.

[rolls eyes]

Kaloki · 11/09/2010 22:12

"but the fact of the Bin Ladens being removed so quickly "

Because Bin Laden wasn't known before 9/11 Hmm it was obviously inconceivable that they might have been keeping tabs on his family.

poshsinglemum · 11/09/2010 22:12

I'm pretty sure that that plane flew into the twin towers.

Mabe it was
a) islamic extremists hell bent on revenge.
b) US organisations hell bent on creating bad feelings towards their enemies (for revenge)
c) Neither of the above.
d) All of the above.

chandellina · 11/09/2010 22:14

CSD - maybe you should learn more about your local homeless problem and the legions of people trying to solve it, instead of being a horrified bystander, blindly blaming the US government.
most people would say the pharma industry is based on saving lives and many would say firearms are to protect lives and liberty. tobacco - well, there is free will involved.
nevermind though, your original points show that you are not worth engaging in a debate.

ivykaty44 · 11/09/2010 22:16

show me a slow down version in the first place then? why show a normal speed where i can't see diddley squat

those buildings were not built with the view of an attack from the side by a plane - hat wasn't taken at any ime into consideration - how could it have been

the world is a nasty place - but to kill 3000-4000 people wasnt the part of the US goverment

soemone placing themselves at the site and never going home that night and dissapearing forever - yes I would beleive that

if they had knows there would have been a little bit more organisation in the aftermath - there wasn't it was pandamoneame

SolidGoldBrass · 11/09/2010 22:17

ALways interesting to find out how many previously rational-seeming posters need to be fitted for a nice shiny tinfoil hat, isn;t it?

backwardpossom · 11/09/2010 22:18

I wonder if CSD wears a hat made of tin foil?

backwardpossom · 11/09/2010 22:18

cross post, solid... great minds and that, eh?

"The plane that crashed into a field was shot down - Dick Chaney actually said this!"

I wouldn't be surprised if it was shot down. DH and I sat in front of the TV saying "OMG they are going to have to shoot it down!"

Realistically, it would be the lesser of two evils. Sad

expatinscotland · 11/09/2010 22:22

For those in the US, it's possible to contribute to a scholarship fun in Kit's name.

Kit had gone to NYC from Denver for work purposes. She is believed to have died on the 105th or 106th floor of One World Trade Center, the second tower to be struck.

She was murdered by Al-Queda terrorists.

here

Kaloki · 11/09/2010 22:22

SGB it's erm, insightful isn't it?

CaptainKirksNipples · 11/09/2010 22:25

What I don't understand is the idea that 'the government did it'

Imagine you can see 'them' around a big table saying we need to cause a huge disaster so the American people don't complain when we go to war. We need volunteers to fly a plane on a suicide mission. Then everyone shifting uncomfortably in their seats...

expatinscotland · 11/09/2010 22:25

Yes, ivy, so all those people who saw it fly into the building are just making it up?

National Airport is surrounded by DC. When you fly into that airport, you fly so low you can see people in boats in the Potomac.

Plane flying low, yep, par for the course when you sit in traffic every day going into work into DC (many don't drive into DC to work, anyhow, but use public transport).

Took a split second to register it was flying very low before she, GWU professor, saw it fly into the Pentagon.

Lots of other people did. They got out of their cars in disbelief.

Lots and lots of people saw it fly in.

But of course, they're just making it up. They've probably all been fed hypnotic potion by aliens or something.

expatinscotland · 11/09/2010 22:28

Yes, Captain, it's such a logical thing, isn't it, let's sit aruond a table and royally fuck our own economy. Let's destablise it big time. It's such a cheap thing to do, too, huh, cancel NYSE and NASDAQ.

EagleNebula · 11/09/2010 22:30

Just to pick up on some of the earlier points raised by mrsunreasonable:

  • Controlled explosion. So, the two towers would have had to be rigged with explosives from top to bottom, well in advance, just on the 'off chance' of an attack. Do you really think this would be possible to hide from the thousands of people that worked there, every single day?
Also, it was evident that the towers were buckling at least eight minutes before the north tower collapsed, as reported by NYPD aviation units. Controlled explosions don't cause buildings to buckle over this period of time.
  • First time collapse. Yes, they were the first steel high rises to collapse due to fire. But when else, in history, have high rises been hit across their lateral load columns and had an engine full of jet fuel explode? The towers were only built to resist an impact of the smaller 707 (757/767's didn't exist) and the fuel load exploding and the removal of the building fire proofing, which the larger planes caused, wasn't considered.

Why are you so ready to believe conspiracy theorists? I agree that governments and events need to be questioned but all of what you have listed can be debunked. Yet (and this is similar to the moon landings) for this to be an inside job it would have taken hundreds if not thousands of people to have been in on it. Not one person, from any reputable source in the nine years since, has come forward. Just some nutters on the internet.
