To not reprt afriend for benefit fraud even tho she has told me she is livin with her partner but pretending she doesn't?

My friend has told me that her partner is living with her but pretending he ives with his mother so that friend can claim benefits for herself and her 3 children whilst her partner works fulltime to earn money to enable them to afford luxuries that most working families can only dream of.

AIBU not to report them because I am afraid of losing her friendship even though I do not agree with her lifestyle.

BTW myself and OH work all the hours God sends to provide ourselves and our children with basic essentials. We have no money left at the end of the week for an evening out as we cannot afford a babysitter. We have to pay our rent in full - no HB for us as we are a working family. We also have to pay full costs for childminding as we are not a single parent family. Our council tax costs per month push us over the edge.

Also our children have to have a packed lunch every day for school because we cannot afford to pay for hot school dinners. My friends children, however, get their hot school dinners free.

Friend has been awarded over £500 for a laptop for her eldest to have access to the internet so that he is not made to feel different from his peers - even though friend already has 3 PC's at her home. We have a secondhand PC which is well past its sell by date but cannot afford a laptop as we make sure our bills are paid on time as our priority.

Friend has informed us that she is going to try for another baby because that will enable her to obtain a larger house for her family. We live in a (very) modest two up, two down terraced house and would love to have another child but cannot afford to move to a larger house to make this possible. As the law states the ages of my children it would be against the law for different sexes over the age of 8 to share a bedroom. Because of this law the LA go all out to house families on benefits accordingly.

Am I jealous? Yes in monetary value I suppose I am, but overall I think I would prefer my children to know they have a mother and a father who is always there for them and will always put them first.

Well you know what Dione, most of us working class people have had it hard at some time in their lives but that doesn?t' mean we all commit fraud by claiming money that we are not entitled to, we have struggled and made do with what we can afford at the time.
I have also brought up children and worked in some crap jobs and feel I am entitled to complain about spongers who are stealing (for the want of a better description of them) from the government and every other person who works and pay?s their taxes , Oh and my head is not done in but I can go to my bed at night and not fret about someone knocking on my door because I?m stealing from people.

But I can't find any posts made by people condoning benefit fraud or saying they don't "live legally"? Sorry if I am genuinely being thick, where are they?

Also, If I had the time or the inclination to make up pseudo persona's at this time of night to discuss strangers lives I would certainly make my-selves a bit more imaginative and less tired and trite than the tabloid nonsense being regurgitated my a person/persons on this thread.

Giddyup I can assure you I'm one person and not bugers or justusfive, I would just like to know why people think it?s ok to defraud the system and think it?s acceptable to everyone else , it?s a form of stealing as far as I?m concerned and nothing will change my mind on that

It's not that people think that it's ok to defraud the system, it's just that some people don't think that it's ok to shop a mate out of spite and probably not save the system a penny in the process.

a while ago-there was all stuff everywhere about people coming into this country and taking the social housing and benifits ect-and actually-it was said that they was taking our jobs aswell-no win situasion for them really.
now we have the benifit families all over the papers and jolly ol cameron saying he will get rid of them!!

inceddently-im one of them bastards on benifits-i also claim DLA-im disabled and so is my daughter.
i dont have a big fuckoff telly-my telly was seconhand-
and yes-people see me get in taxis-and probably think the gov is paying me too much-
but the realality is-i use the dla for taxis as im not allowed to drive and i cant get to places often[my legs are wonky and i have another condition]-but thanks to the media[who are up the goverments arse]we are all scum.

justusfive - you dont have to wait to be in secondary school to get the easy access computer grant - it starts in yr 3. its also so these kids can do their homework on it (and their mums can mumsnet he he) not to be the same as other kids. oh and you also dont need to be a single parent just on income support.

thought i'd let you know the facts about it.

just reminded myself i must get to the post office tomorrow and get the reduced bus travel oyster card that i'm entitled to as i'm on income support. My cars just broken down and motobility are picking it up in the morning to fix it.
