I know that we've had this toilet brush conversation numerous times....but, Please come and let DH know that I am not being unreasonable to have put our toilet brush in the outside shed.

The sight of toilet brushes makes me feel sick. I bought those clip on flushable toilet brush thingys which I think is the more hygenic and pleasant approach to getting rid of the shit as it were Grin DH claims that everyone he knows owns/uses toilet brushes Hmm

Namechanged for this as I don't want DH (yes you) to know my regular name. Go easy on him as the argument has come up while he's making himself useful cleaning the bathroom, so it's not all craziness from him.

OMFG not again?

Surely not again??

Everything that needs to be said on this subject has been said 1,000 times at least.

Who on earth revived this thread?

FluffyMcnuffy · 01/12/2014 11:56

I need to duck now don't I?

Nothing wrong with being LMC I say!

Noellefielding · 01/12/2014 12:02

mintyy don't be mean, some of us didn't know we were wrong/right to have one!
We needed to come here to be blessed/cursed in our toilet strategies!!

God, what could we do in the dark, ignorant, up to our arms in god knows what, covered in strange faeces with no idea if we are despised or not by our neighbours!

nice

Sorry, but these threads make me laugh. They are never well balanced, because only the people who are really "ewww ewwww ewwwwwwwwwwww" about toilet brushes post, apart from a few old-school realists like myself and MsHighwater, and everyone else just rolls their eyes and snorts and doesn't bother posting because they might be labelled a Poo-Farmer.

Toilet brushes are ewwww. so is poo. part of life.

They are only unhygenic if you start using them to clean other things (now that's ewwwwwww!). Likely you are dumping nasty chemicals in your toilet too, and my guess they will kill whatever you are afraid of.

Toilet brushes are easy to keep clean and no more unhygenic than your vacuum cleaner.

well, I disagree there. I would touch the bottom of my vacuum cleaner. not the bottom of my toilet brush.

My dh has 2 toilet brushes in the downstairs loo, I hate them but he thinks they are a must, I'm a bit OCD about germs and getting ill so I often soak the brushes in bleach ( I have tried to get rid of them completely but dh won't have it ).

Buttercupsanddaisys · 01/12/2014 12:32

I tried to find a 'hygienic' toilet brush, also one that's a bit more eco friendly (less plastic, recyclable handle etc.), and one that is more bendy and can actually clean the u-bend which is quite tight on modern toilets. So.. I gave up on buying standard plastic ones and I found a bunch of silicone brushes without bristles which are actually easy to clean, last forever, look better and can bend to clean the tricky areas of the toilet. The handles on some of them are anti-bacterial. Most of them are inspired by Danish design so they look nicer than typical bristle toilet brush. Also they don't catch toilet paper (and other disgusting stuff). Here's my list:

  1. This one you can find in lakeland.. www.josephjoseph.com/en-gb/flex-toilet-brush?gclid=Cj0KCQjwqYfWBRDPARIsABjQRYxvzSyZmxo8eWRqKvfve1VnvoTlhqI_OL8BtLrec7zsID8AOqWeKn8aAkDrEALw_wcB#92=21
There's more on google, just look for silicone brush instead...

You don't clean skids with toilet brushes.

They're in the same family as scrubbing brushes, dust rags, washing up sponges and window squeegies.

THEY SCRUB A SHIT-FREE TOILET.
