...... People don't change their bed sheets for 2-3 months?

I can't believe it. I change all ours weekly, not least because there is nothing quite like getting into a fresh bed.

But 2-3 months without clean sheets? Surely not????

I hoover the mattresses once a month as well.

No, I don't iron sheets.

But barf at the thought of not changing them for months.

That's just utter laziness and mingingness.

Tee2072 · 05/09/2010 18:09

Goal is weekly, but, like Yuno, rarely last that long!

HecateQueenOfWitches · 05/09/2010 18:10

2 or 3 MONTHS?

sheets start to smell manky and feel grubby if you don't change them every week - at least once a week!

mumbar · 05/09/2010 18:11

Shaz10 Grin does that mean I shouldn't have changed mine for the last 2 years !

Mine are changed weekly DS ar changed twice a week as he had severe hives on his face and I like to know they are clean. (not sure it makes any difference but anything to help me feel like I'm helping Sad)

2-3 months is beyond yuck. Mine used to get done weekly when I lived with the ex as he was really sweaty and smelly. Now they are done fortnightly as its me (and sometimes a small child) in my bed so it doesnt need doing as often. The kids are done fortnightly too, as they just dont seem to get dirty or sweaty in their beds.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 05/09/2010 18:13

Yuck, can you imagine as a student if you'd have gone to a bloke's house for a bit of slap and tickle and found a dirty, smelly bed?! You'd run a mile, wouldn't you?

PYT · 05/09/2010 18:15

Hideous. I am a self confessed slattern, but change my sheets weekly. I think the longest I have ever left it is a fortnight and I felt absolutely minging and ashamed of myself!

Things I wish I haven't read

allbie · 05/09/2010 18:18

Once a week and hoovering and turning mattresses?? Over one week but less than a month...never hoovered but occasionally flipped, we are all fit n healthy with no bugs or allergies.

smokinaces · 05/09/2010 18:20

I dont hoover my mattress, as I have a mattress topper thing, but I do turn it once a month. Actually my mattress topper probably needs replacing as its 3 years old and seen better days, and there's no way of cleaning it.

usualsuspect · 05/09/2010 18:23

Mn is obsessed with sheet changing ....

EgyptVanGogh · 05/09/2010 19:25

Months?! Foul beyond belief.

We change sheets weekly, every Sunday or Monday. Mattress aired every week. Waterproof mattress cover changed 1st Monday of the month, when mattress is vacuumed. Mattress turned 4 times a year.

Nasty, nasty, nasty.

lolapoppins · 05/09/2010 19:27

If we don't change our bedsheets every three-four days I feel dirty. I can't bear a stale smelling bed.

I don't have a specific day or time to do them, they get done when they are done but Shock at months!

hmmSleep · 05/09/2010 19:38

Oh dear, I was one of those posters!!! I admitted I sometimes leave mine up to 2 months. (hangs head in shame and pretendsgoes to change bedding) I'm going to be asked to leave mn now aren't I for shaming by association?

BitOfFun · 05/09/2010 19:41

I change mine every day. But then I do have a lot of sex.

MisSalLaneous · 05/09/2010 19:42

hmmSleep, serious question: Don't you start itching after a while? I don't know if it's in my head, but I can't bear anything longer than a week, I start imaging (ok yes, so might be my head) things crawling... I blame the pictures of dust mites. Have you seen them?? Scary.

mumbar · 05/09/2010 19:44

BitofFun Grin and Envy

ivykaty44 · 05/09/2010 19:47

How many of you vacum the mattress each week or two, there aint much point in putting clean sheets on a bed unless you vacum the matress for a good while Grin

Also pillow cases can be changed much sooner if you wish as this can be germ ridden

i change the sheets around 10 days, i they start smelling sooner then they get changed sooner

hmmSleep · 05/09/2010 19:48

MisSalLaneous, I don't itch, but I am a bit sneezy, maybe that's why! I always mean to change them more frequently, just never get round to it. They really don't smell though, I don't seem to sweat, not a good excuse I know!

On the thread I originally posted on it was in a 'confession' too embarrassed to admit in rl kind of way, so I am aware it's a bit revolting!

Shaz10 · 05/09/2010 19:48

Dust mites are the best bed company I get

MisSalLaneous · 05/09/2010 19:50

Grin Shaz.

Ah, hmmSleep, if it makes you feel any better, I was deep cleaning my kitchen this weekend, and the filth there was something I should really get nightmares about - and I thought it was reasonably clean!

resistanceisfutile · 05/09/2010 20:19

I only change ours about once a month
