I know lying is wrong anyway. But it's almost insulting to lie on here when, if necessary, people can see that you've lied as your words are stored forever! If you're going to lie, at least lie well .

What bugs me is when people lie to get sympathy or admiration for something that is directly contradicted by something else they wrote and they can't possibly both be true.

And then everyone piles in and goes 'oh, poor you' and you know it's bullshit and you can't say 'yeah, but they're lying' because nobody will believe that you have a photographic memory and will think you're stalking the poster and also everyone will think you're being a bitch.

I think IABU. Oh well. I'll get over it.

I've found myself seeing someone on a board and thinking oh she was the one that was really bitch to me on my thread, and then a quick check reveals she was on that thread but actually nice. And I've mixed her up!

in response to the OP - sometimes people are fundamentally for real (i.e they say they have 5 children, 3 ex husbands and 10 iguanas and they actually do) but overegg the pudding - whether because they genuinely perceive something or because they want a bit of extra attention, who knows - in a way that can be more confusing to deal with than out and out liars! people are complex.

If you are pissed off enough to start a thread about this you should just out the person on the thread concerned.

Although a word of warning....on another forum I was having a row with someone, I was accused of not knowing what I was talking about and I mentioned something to do with the birth of DC3 which specifically backed up my point- cue lots of bitching back and foth and finally the accusation that I'd cleary made up the "facts" cos I had posted on another thread about my 2 children.

Strangely that particular poster slunk off pretty damn quick when it was pointed out by someone else that my DC3 had in fact been stillborn....

Givemesleep - I have the same weird memory for things people have said on here too. I don't have stalkerish tendencies and I don't have a spreadsheet . I just seem to remember what people have said. Sympathies - because if you say something to the poster on the thread concerned, people will accuse you of being too involved and needing to get a life (I see someone very original has already done that on this thread ). It wrankles though, doesn't it?

Totally agree with secondcoming. It's about the cheerleading response, some people thrive on it.

I have a stock response to people who post about how a school mum screamed in their face or an old lady shouted they were evil etc, which is 'wow, that's unbelievable'. Makes me feel better albeit in a passive agressive way - I wouldn't dare call anybody a liar as then you kick off the whole troll hunter thing.
