To think that MN seems to have had quite a lot of newbies over the past few days?

Is it just me?

Seem to have opened up a lot of threads where the poster is new to MN. Not that this is a problem of course - I think it's lovely. Though I am almost certain it has something to do with the massive amount of free advertising MN has had from the Netmums v Mumsnet battle Grin!

I hadn't noticed TBH, although I am a relative new person (about a year or so). I have looked at NM's, once my eyes stopped bleeding I decided not to go back.

VoldemortsNipple · 26/08/2010 08:46

Im not new, but I did name change last week.

I found that bullying goes on occasionally on MN, but usually the person being bullied gets back up from other posters so the bully doesn't get very far.

When somebody goes out to completly hurt a person or group of people, and refuses to back down even though they know they are upsetting those people, then has the audacity to say a whole thread is bullying them, deserve to be told.

As for being told everything is fine and dandy Hun, Whats the point in that!

Inertia · 26/08/2010 08:47

I'm a newbie too, though I haven't migrated from netmums. Am making an effort to try to read different forums, but I keep being drawn back here -it's very addictive.

GetOrfMoiLand · 26/08/2010 09:01

LOLOL at TSC and paedophile in text speak

Can't imagine dim people can spell it properly anyway - is probably pedo.

Pioneer · 26/08/2010 10:13

"I have to admit I came over to MN to take a peek following the recent rivalry between MN and NM. I have been a member of NM for 3 years. But I much prefer it here! Do you mind if I hang around for a while?"

My point proven.

Do Birds Eye make coffee then?

MrsMadWriggle · 26/08/2010 10:34

Oblomov "i do wish they'd all get lost. takes time to plough your way through all the tosh. wastes my valueable time, when i should be spending it on valueable mn threads." (sic)

That's nice and welcoming, isn't it. Surely newbies' opinions are just as valid/interesting as the stale old posters who have been here for years going over and over the same old ground.

(I'm not a newbie BTW, just namechanged recently as I thought I'd been recognised in RL)

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 26/08/2010 11:01

I'm quite new, been here a couple of months, although I have name changed a couple of times.

I don't think I've made much of an impact but I do find it totally addictive!

I have never been on NM. I have seen some of the goings on over the last few days and I think it's all childish playground banter. Anyone can post where they want, each to their own blah blah...

I really like it here and intend to stay :)

AT1137 · 26/08/2010 11:02

I am new and I think you are all lovely, very lovely! I've never heard of the other site by the way. xxxx

I've been a lurker for a year or so, but have only just started to open my trap cntribut Grin

NotFromConcentrate · 26/08/2010 11:55

Or 'contribute', even!

Glitterknickaz · 26/08/2010 11:56

I dunno about anyone else but I really HATE panty raids.

VoldemortsNipple · 26/08/2010 12:03

I think a lot of the newbees might be my workmates who have no kids.

They cant believe some of the things that go on here which I tell them about. Their faces go ShockBlushEnvy

They have been thretening to join for a while Grin

MrsMoosickle · 26/08/2010 12:36

I'm new too, have heard of Netmums and had a sneaky peek. Missed the v thread though.

epicfail · 26/08/2010 12:58

I'm new. I'm a refugee from a bloody awful Australian site (paid forum) full of nutjobs and censorship. I can't believe my good fortune at finding MN.

  1. It is unmoderated
  2. It is free.... FREE!
  3. There are actually quite a lot of intelligent people here :-O
  4. I love the way you lot swear, you manage to make swearing sound ever so elegant. I sit here and imagine you all cussing away in quite prim English voices and it amuses me no end.

I wont "hun" you but you might get a "darl" now and then if it is past wine o'clock.

I just had a look at Bounty. There seems to be a lot more activity in their 'Dads' section than there is here.

I might tell DH to have a look. Perhaps he'll stop trying to read over my shoulder.

AlCrowley · 26/08/2010 14:20

Of course we don't mind alwaysleftout. Make yourself at home :)

Harryan · 26/08/2010 14:34

I am sort of new. I've lurked for about 6 months but have only posted on threads a few times.

I absoloutly LOVE it here!!

You are all so lovely and make me laugh :)

I am also a member of NM, But I don't use the forums, I can't stand them.
I have only ever used the local boards as where I am local to a lot of mum's post on there for meet ups etc.

I do however have a friend who has used NM's for years. The other day I showed her MN as she was curious about us and her first reaction was..."Oh my God You are allowed to swear??!!" Shock

Needless to say she hasn't ventured back Grin
