To think that MN seems to have had quite a lot of newbies over the past few days?

Is it just me?

Seem to have opened up a lot of threads where the poster is new to MN. Not that this is a problem of course - I think it's lovely. Though I am almost certain it has something to do with the massive amount of free advertising MN has had from the Netmums v Mumsnet battle Grin!

OP posts:
Mowiol · 25/08/2010 23:27

I'm quite new but have posted a wee bit. I like it here.
Wish Mn had been available when I was a new Mum many moons ago!!

usualsuspect · 25/08/2010 23:29

I think the internet was not even invented when I was a new mum Grin

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 25/08/2010 23:30

I'm a stealth newbie - I've been coming here for years under various names. I don't know if that is comme il faut or not. I did join netmums once but they didn't like that when a poster asked for an opinion, I gave one.

Tippychoocks · 25/08/2010 23:34

a stealth newbie who speaks french. Hmm You're not the one winding up NM are you?

Mowiol · 25/08/2010 23:36

When the MN v NM "thang" kicked off yesterday (?) I (rather unreasonably) took a wee peek at NM. Yes, I know, I'm a nosey old hag.
It's all very manic looking with various emoticons. And that's just the graphics - there actually was an awful lot of "hun" nonsense going on!!
See, when you're my age "hun" means something entirely different!!

usualsuspect · 25/08/2010 23:39

It never really kicked off though did it? just a few posters with their handbags drawn ...pathetic really..people can post where they like

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 23:40

Im new - only found the site accidently 4 weeks ago when searching for baby names. I had never heard of both mumsnet or netmums up to that point!

Tippychoocks · 25/08/2010 23:41

It kicked off at Netmums usualsuspect. I don't feel we afforded it the same gravitas here Grin

usualsuspect · 25/08/2010 23:44

Just the usual we are better than you posts on here ....each to their own

i think you must all be new as i dont recognise hardly anyone on this thread Confused

Nemofish · 25/08/2010 23:51

I have been here three years or so, is that new-ish? Smile

I had a friend, I needed to 'split up' with her, dh said what's the problem, and I said well, she is netmums and I am mumsnet.

Nuff said, said he.

I think some postings recently have sounded odd... but not in a netmums way.

CakeandRoses · 25/08/2010 23:58

tsc - hun, thanks for getting me wondering what paedophiles is in text speak...

Tippychoocks · 26/08/2010 00:00

why would anyone ever need to send a text about a paedophile?

VinegarTits · 26/08/2010 00:04

'hun' you must be new

TheDoodler · 26/08/2010 00:06

nah - they're not from NMs. They're after our Christmas fund money....we could call them 'Arthur Fowlers' but i think that acronym is already taken here.

alwaysleftout · 26/08/2010 00:10

I have to admit I came over to MN to take a peek following the recent rivalry between MN and NM. I have been a member of NM for 3 years. But I much prefer it here! Do you mind if I hang around for a while?

Liv77 · 26/08/2010 00:13

Found out i'm expecting number 2 and got the password reminder sent, havn't been on here since PG with number 1 a couple of years back. You'll be pleased to hear i've never heard of NetMums. Smile

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 26/08/2010 00:20

sorry - I have no idea what you are talking about tippychoocks

Tippychoocks · 26/08/2010 00:22

Was not important Tondelayo. Someone posted on NM, hence the hooha, upsetting them and posted in French. I wondered if it could have been you (not seriously, was being flippant. It's a failing of mineSmile)

Liv77 · 26/08/2010 00:33

NM's are into the hun's - I'm definately steering clear then, it makes me think of one particular Facebook 'friend' I have who hun's every bloody sentence she writes and her Status Updates are enough to make me scream just constant barrages of how wonderful and brillant her offspring are and what a wonderful mother she is. i'm waiting for the update that announces the sun is shining out of her arse . I bet she's a NM Biscuit

Thanks MN - i feel much better now for that little rant Grin

invisibleink · 26/08/2010 07:48

Do we have a link to the thread on NM that kicked off?

SkylineDrifter · 26/08/2010 08:00

I'm quite new, been here a few weeks. Don't think anybody's noticed me yet. I don't call anybody hun - even worse is hunni - I hate that with a vengeance. I've a 61 year old friend who uses it all the time, I think she thinks it makes her look cool.

i do wish they'd all get lost. takes time to plough your way through all the tosh. wastes my valueable time, when i should be spending it on valueable mn threads.
