MN is quite happy to let innacurate thread titles be posted that could promote discrimination against disabled children and their famillies

Title say's it all.

I assume from your lack of response that you have none then Breton? Hmm

Glitterknickaz · 24/08/2010 23:39

LadyBiscuit I also found it interesting that Breton was somewhat unable to respond when other posters gave him scientific references proving ADHD and STILL continued to assert there is no scientific evidence.

'doh!

wasuup3000 · 24/08/2010 23:40

So Bret to clarify babe - You are not a parent of a child who has ADHD or ADD and you have no medical qualifications?

OP posts:
Breton1900 · 24/08/2010 23:41

LadyBiscuit: And Breton (fucking creepy that you're talking about yourself in the third person incidentally), you're arguing semantics.

Did you not realise I was paraphrasing your original comment?

I'm not "arguing semantics" I'm correcting your sloppy writing.

loopyloops · 24/08/2010 23:42

Have you even met anyone with (or who claim to have ) ADHD?

"I assume from your lack of response that you have none then Breton?"

Assume away! It seems to be the order of the day on these boards.

Breton1900 · 24/08/2010 23:44

loopyloops. If you can't be bothered to do a search on what I've written I'm certainly not doing it for you.

wasuup3000 · 24/08/2010 23:44

So Bret - No medical Qualifications; Never met anyone with ADHD or ADD; Not a parent of a child with ADHD or ADD

OP posts:
loopyloops · 24/08/2010 23:45

So basically... you are arguing a controversial POV on two threads with no experience in a very sensitive matter, which is upsetting lots of people.

Why?

wasuup3000 · 24/08/2010 23:45

Oh dear Bret not overly qualified to say ADHD and ADD are a load of nonsense are you babe?

OP posts:
Breton1900 · 24/08/2010 23:50

wasuup3000: You've either got a very short memory or you never read anything I posted on my thread.

loopyloops · 24/08/2010 23:51

So do you happen to believe in dissocial personality disorders?

wasuup3000 · 24/08/2010 23:51

Assume away! Bretty Daling :)

OP posts:
loopyloops · 24/08/2010 23:52

(not that I have any appropriate qualifications to suggest that to you)

Lougle · 24/08/2010 23:53

HelenMumsnet - I am glad I popped back to this thread before shutting down. Thank you for posting a reply to me. It really does make a huge difference. As I say, I know you have to make your own decisions, but we on the SN board have enough of a struggle to keep our heads above water at times, without this stuff. Honest discussion with the aim of learning allround I welcome. But this really wasn't that. It was plain old-fashioned prejudice.

Appletrees · 24/08/2010 23:58

Actually I thought there was an interesting nugget: possible overdiagnosis and "invention" of some disorders for the purposes of selling pharmaceuticals, and any attached over prescribing. this was very interesting and evidence was given back it up by, I think, a meuropsychotjerapist early in the thread?

It would be wrong to stop people talking about that.

wasuup3000 · 24/08/2010 23:59

Hi Blue is it not past your bedtime or have you been eating to many apples?

OP posts:
Glitterknickaz · 25/08/2010 00:01

Nothing wrong in that kind of discussion, Appletrees.
It acknowledges that the condiiton exists but may be diagnosed... completely different.

Glitterknickaz · 25/08/2010 00:05

OVER diagnosed even

Breton1900 · 25/08/2010 00:06

Why has this thread developed into a re-run of mine?

I've made my points - that is what freedom of expression is all about and people are equally free to disagree with my opinion. But please, let's not do the whole thing again.

It becomes somewhat tedious having to constantly repeat oneself.

wasuup3000 · 25/08/2010 00:10

No one asked you to post here Bretty babe...

OP posts:
Appletrees · 25/08/2010 00:12

Sorry do you think I am someone else? That element was very interesting but the rest wad a mess and not worth a post.

wasuup3000 · 25/08/2010 00:12

Is there not a song about that which may well suit you Bret?

"YOUR so vain" perhaps?

OP posts:
genieinabottle · 25/08/2010 00:13

YANBU there is a marked difference between allowing someone to express an opinion and allowing downright nastiness and prejudice.

Some of the posts on the ADHD thread were beyond belief! A few posters were being deliberately provocative and made some hurtful comments to parents of SN children.
Some were not out there to post an opinion nor be 'educated', they were there to be rude and cruel.

Sad
wasuup3000 · 25/08/2010 00:17

OO yes here it is Bretty babe!
