to really detest long nails on a man?

I saw a picture of a man with long nails - so long they extended past the end of the fingertips. Not talons but long enough. It gave me the shivers.

AIBU to detest long nails on a man? Even if they're clean? (Even worse IMO as implies they've deliberately grown them. Urgh)

YANBU I like my dh's rugged hands, they remind me how hard he works.

Mowiol · 20/08/2010 13:45

No you are not BU. I think it's creepy UNLESS they have one or two long nails for playing the guitar.

sanielle · 20/08/2010 13:45

what mowiol said

FindingMyMojo · 20/08/2010 13:47

YUK!!! (guitar bits allowed).

MrsC2010 · 20/08/2010 13:47

YANBU

Igglybuff · 20/08/2010 13:48

I'm not even sure about guitar bits to be honest...

Even worse are long toenails

YADNBU - long nails on a man in just wrong. I had someone come round to quote me for a contract and didn't give him the job becuase of his long nails

(shallow, I know but for some reason his nails made me distrust him).

Stretch · 20/08/2010 13:50

Ouch!

Callisto · 20/08/2010 13:50

Not unreasonable at all. Long fingernails on a man are very creepy indeed, even guitar playing ones. Yuck.

PrivetDancer · 20/08/2010 13:51

No! I hate hate hate this. There are a couple of blokes that get on my train who have long nails (again, not v long, but visible white bits and they look 'shaped' Envy). I really have to avoid sitting opposite them as it makes me feel quite sick.

I don't think being a guitar player makes the package any better. Unless you are Slash.

Mowiol · 20/08/2010 13:51

My late neighbour used to have long fingernails . But then he also had carefully coiffed hair and was an arm-clutcher.

Igglybuff · 20/08/2010 13:52

Yes TB I know what you mean - untrustworthy!

TopTrump · 20/08/2010 13:52

Ewww, just reading about long nails on a man makes me cringe!

Igglybuff · 20/08/2010 13:54

privet shaped nails? Wrong wrong wrong

OP posts:
PrivetDancer · 20/08/2010 13:58

I know! filed into ovals!

TopTrump - you should see the face I just realised I was inadvertently pulling while reading / typing this!

Mowiol, I have a very vivid image in my mind now

harassedinherpants · 20/08/2010 13:58

Yuck, it's just wrong!!!

Dh is a roofer and bites his nails, but that's how I like them. On the other hand my bosses long nails make me feel sick....

Mowiol · 20/08/2010 14:39

Privet Dancer "Mowiol, I have a very vivid image in my mind now"

He also used to wear beige oufits. Very disturbing Shock

Malificence · 20/08/2010 14:41

How weird - YABU.

My DH has strong, long nails and very manly hands, I do have to remind him to trim them ( for my comfort Wink).

Then again, moustaches, beards and shaved heads make me nauseous, so I can't really talk.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 20/08/2010 14:44

Yeuch - long nails on a bloke give me the heebie jeebies. Even if it's for playing the guitar, I still imagine them being used for a sneaky nose or bum pick

B52s · 20/08/2010 14:48

my uncle keeps one very long little fingernail for cleaning his ears with

mrspear · 20/08/2010 14:48

yuk!

ShirleyKnot · 20/08/2010 14:50

Christ, I've got a thumpingly bad hangover today - why. WHY did I click on this thread.

euphrosyne · 20/08/2010 14:59

YANBU
can't decide which is worse though, one long little fingernail like B52s' uncle or all of them?

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 20/08/2010 14:59

LOVE that name Shirley Grin

Mowiol · 20/08/2010 15:03

B52s - please tell me that's a joke?? I feel positively squeamish now.
