BiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuit

will that keep you quiet for a while.

an apology indeed, i think you are off your flaming rocker.

daftpunk · 19/08/2010 16:57

Was that supposed to be funny?

Claw3 · 19/08/2010 16:58

Its about timing and jumping to conclusions. I would agree BA did start this thread prematurely.

2shoes · 19/08/2010 16:59

Riven heres a tale that will make your hair curl.

as you know dd is dry, but it took a few false starts. so we still had an order of pads.(I had cancelled the order but we had one lot in the cupboard just in case) cos I assumed that when she was dry I could return them......
well in the mean time the incontinence service changed supliers.
and yes you guessed, when I phoned to arrange for the pads I had(and there were quite a few) to be collected, they said " no we can;t as we don't do that product now"

I gave them to dd's school.
crazy

SoupDragon · 19/08/2010 17:03

I apologise for David Cameron.

is that what you meant? not that I was responsible for him in any way.

I don't think this thread was a good idea, ( but I'm sure BA will just put it down to experience) However, I agree that Riven was too quick to drag DCs name through the mud. If she had any issues re; promises he made to her, she should have dealt with them via private correspondence. As far as I'm aware, Riven had not been told the promise had been broken. She made her own judgement, that's up to her, but sometimes dragging things all over mumsnet is not the answer.

Nothing much more to add.

pagwatch · 19/08/2010 17:11

belated Grin at SDTGs moving ceremony

Blackduck · 19/08/2010 17:15

SP :)

Blackduck · 19/08/2010 17:16

sorry SD!!

Tiredmumno1 · 19/08/2010 17:17

Riven can drag whatever she likes, where ever she likes.

freedom of speech and all that.

at least she has the support at hand should she need it

daftpunk why keep on, you made you thoughts clear on the original thread, as did I,
why keep on about you

daftpunk · 19/08/2010 17:26

Of course she can, but if she is gong to start threads in AIBU about chaining herself to railings when she isn't in full possession of the facts, then threads like this will get started.....that's what happens when you make something very public.

cupcakesandbunting · 19/08/2010 17:26

Really? He's the PM of this counry, not her husband. If he has reneged on a promise that he made as PM then it should be dealt with as publicly as possible, IMO. Just so that we all know what a shifty spanner he is...

2shoes · 19/08/2010 17:28

daftpunk
grow up please, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Kaloki · 19/08/2010 17:34

Unless I'm mistaken, he made the promise
a) publicly
and
b) to all parents of SN children, not just Riven

So I can't see why it should have been kept private between him and Riven.

And at the point of starting the thread Riven was in possession of the facts at the time. Eg. that there was no information at all.

Tiredmumno1 · 19/08/2010 17:35

Why keep it private?

if you dont like what read on here, then dont read it or get involved

Tiredmumno1 · 19/08/2010 17:36

i meant - what you read.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 19/08/2010 17:37

Daftpunk - you say that Riven was not in possession of all the facts - but how could she have known that David Cameron was going to make this announcement? The date on the link in the OP is the 18th of August - and I believe Riven's thread was started well before that date - hence she couldn't have known he was going to make the announcement.

For all we know, Riven's thread may have been what jolted him into remembering his promise to her, and spurred him into making the announcement.

And since all he has done is said that the PCTs should stick to the guidelines - that people should be given sufficient for their needs - and that no arbitrary ceilings should be applied, I can't see that he has actually done anything concrete.

Each person/carer - like Riven - is still going to have to slug it out with their individual PCT, and force them to stick to the guidelines - and anyway, they are only guidelines, and PCTs can ignore them, because there is no force behind them.

David Cameron needs to say that each person like Riven's dd must get sufficient incontinence products to meet their individual needs, and that the funding will be provided. Then he will actually have changed the situation that Riven and so many others are in, rather than just reiterating the pre-existing guidelines.

Claw3 · 19/08/2010 17:37

DP - the chat with DC took place in about November 2009 if i remember rightly, its now August 2010 and Riven's dd still doesnt have any more nappies. Unlike BA, Riven's dd's needs are a bit more urgent.

Sometimes dragging things all over mumsnet is the only answer.

BA is not in full possession of the facts, Riven still doesnt have nappies.

Claw3 · 19/08/2010 17:41

Exactly SDTG, well bloody said.

daftpunk · 19/08/2010 17:41

No information could have meant the issue was being dealt with and a positive outcome would be achieved. you don't jump to negative conclusions so publicily

Kaloki · 19/08/2010 17:45

Let's try phrasing it a different way shall we, no information in this case meant nothing had been done. That is a fact.
