Because of this

I don't understand why he deserves an apology for this. I am not understanding your train of thought.

invisibleink · 18/08/2010 23:51

Agreed. These things may be promised but people need to realise the amount of red tape that (may) holds things up. Additionally, people may not be able to comment on where things are up to as discussions are continuing and this might explain the lack of replies (although it could have been said 'look we are still talking about it, we'll get back to you' rather than ignored).

BUT it has happened as he said so fair play and well done.

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 18/08/2010 23:54

ok. David Cameron, Im sorry that I doubted you would ever stop the limits on nappies for disabled children. Its just a shame that you will be cutting the money that their carers receive and rely on to live.

good nuff?

We should apologise for him doing what he said he would do?

Oh well, at least it'll be just the once.

TonariNoTotoro · 18/08/2010 23:59

because lots of people said 'he's a crap politician and will never live up to the promise he made, Riven was daft to think he would'

paraphrasing, obviously, but that was very much the gist.

BarmyArmy · 19/08/2010 00:01

tethersend - no, people should apologise for the cynical, bitter and biassed vitriol that they spewed some weeks back in that thread that Riven started...in which she said she would be chaining herself to the railings of No.10 Downing Street.

But, let's face it, we both know this won't happen and, indeed, I am simply raising this point to highlight the ingratitude and mean-spirit of far too many people on here.

lolololol

Dave, is that you?

TonariNoTotoro · 19/08/2010 00:04

Oh, that's a bit wnaky GreenKirtle Hmm

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 19/08/2010 00:08

whys that? BA has made no secret of the fact that he is a staunch tory, just like i make no secret of the fact that im a staunch labour supporter. I wouldn't object to him quoting me then asking "Diane, is that you?"

BarmyArmy · 19/08/2010 00:08

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle - ha ha ha Grin

I'm sure Dave can take it, BA. He would have reported to MN if he felt the need.

Perhaps it was the cynical bitter and biased vitriol which forced his hand?

Valpollicella · 19/08/2010 00:10

He deserves and apology because...?

More than likely his people picked up on it and dealt with it and brought it to his immediate attention

arsani · 19/08/2010 00:11

BarmyArmy , I think you are the mean-spirited here

MiladyDeSummer · 19/08/2010 00:13

I wasn't on that thread but personally I think anyone who implied that Riven was lazy, self-serving and defeatist should be giving her a whacking great apology tbh.

hmc · 19/08/2010 00:15

One would hope as prime minister he would have more pressing things on his mind than what mumsnetters may or may not have said about him....

TonariNoTotoro · 19/08/2010 00:18

Sick of the labour-supporter vitriol,

He's done it hasn't he?

There were loads of comments on the other thread about how he'd never do it/how Riven was stupid to expect he would (as he's a politician after all)

Milady several people did, and they did get landed on heavily :)

BarmyArmy · 19/08/2010 00:21

arsani - oh no, do you really? Sad

OP posts:
Emo76 · 19/08/2010 07:37

I would hope that he isn't really that bothered by what people post here - politicians have thick skins. I would hope he has better things to do than trawl through mumsnet postings as a proxy for his popularity as PM. I am surprised though people blame him for the state the economy is in!

saltyseadog · 19/08/2010 07:44

FGS.

The nappies win is great, but it is the tip of the sodding iceberg in terms of improving the quality of life of disabled children and their families. Well done Dave for sorting the nappies out, but your work is not yet done by a long, long way.

TheJollyPirate · 19/08/2010 07:56

Hm! I should think the last thing on "Call me Dave" Cameron's mind is what people might or might not say on MN. Personally BA I am amazed you are not quibbling about the cost of these extra nappies to the taxpayer.

I didn't vote for him and have little faith that anyone with a fortune he has deeming themselves middle class can truly understand how most of us have to live.

Anyway - off to work.

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 19/08/2010 08:15

my argument is that while the nappies thing is great (and lets not forget that he DID promise to do this) he is cutting benefits and raising VAT (which he promised he wouldnt do) so he is giving with one hand and taking twice as much back with the other.

and i am sick of the anti-benefits-claimant vitriol on here!

TBH, that article just says that he has written to say arbitary caps should not be set, but he hasn't offered any resources/funding to ensure that PCTs can afford to do this.
