In a sort of patronising tone?

Ggggggrrrrrrrrrrr
My fellow MNetters, does anyone actually find buying jeans
A) easy?
B) a pleasure?

No? I thought not
Permission granted then?!

YANBU.

They don't understand.

My DP has bought the same make and style of jeans for about 25 years. He has recently discovered internet shopping and now simply has to click his mouse about 3 times and a new pair arrives the next day.

It's not fair.

LLKH · 18/08/2010 15:52

I have a friend who finds it simple, but if you have pronounced hips, it is impossible. I have given up completely. So, no, YANBU. Ask him how easy it would be for him to find trousers if they were all designed for people who weren't shaped like him.

ChippingIn · 18/08/2010 15:56

Permission granted

skyeplusbump · 18/08/2010 15:56

in this house its the other way around...i just dont get it,why is it so hard for him to find the 'right' jeans?!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 18/08/2010 15:57

< racking sobs >
Why are they mostly so low rise my arse falls out if I bend over?

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 18/08/2010 15:59

They don't make my perfect jeans any more. :(

I've tried buying online four times now, resulting in three saggy-arsed disasters (two pairs I can take off without unfastening, because of the way sizing has changed - either that, or I'm thinner that I thought) and, well, I'm awaiting the fourth with hope in my heart... dunno why I bother, though. :(

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/08/2010 15:59

I'm with sky.

I just go and buy jeans and they fit. DP has to buy about 8 different pairs of jeans for 8 different shops (HAS to buy them because he refuses to use changing rooms), and then ponce about at home looking this way and that. he is very fussy.

I just go to French Connection or Next. Job done.

MistyMooBags · 18/08/2010 16:00

I'm 5'11" tall (35" inside leg) and my hips are 16" bigger than my waist... :( Jeans that fit? Not a chance!

Try Oasis jeans. they're not to low rise, but not up to your ribcage either. The zip quality is very good imo.

KnottyLocks · 18/08/2010 16:06

Ello Piste.

Jeans are a right royal pain in the arse. My hips and thighs are at least a size bigger than my waist so I end up having to wear a big belt to hold 'em up leaving me with a bunched up mountain of denim around my middle. Very 1980s...and not in a good way.

Must try on at least 20 pairs to find a pair that will just about do.

DH doesn't even try them on and they fit. Grrrrr.

KnottyLocks · 18/08/2010 16:08

M&S had some high rise jeans when I was last in there. Was a few months ago though.

Itsjustafleshwound · 18/08/2010 16:09

Gahh!! It is a pet hate of mine...

I am so tired of not having jeans that fit. I once struck gold and found a super pair in Gap - but they were discontinued and when I bought another pr of them they didn't fit like they should!!

Whoever honestly finds any reasonably priced, non-arse showing jeans, please tell me your secrets ...

Mowiol · 18/08/2010 16:10

Jeans - don't get me started. MistyMooBags, I'm tall too and 34" leg so I buy Gap's Long and Lean. But they are often hipsters or skinny or whatever and I'm a tad old for those types of waistlines!! I did find a range they did called Essentials when I was over in Canada but the Gaps I've been into here at home just don't seem to do them. They had an ordinary waistline which was great and are straight leg which is fine for my age group. Hope I don't have to go back to Canada just to get jeans Smile.

ValiumSingleton · 18/08/2010 16:12

M&S jeans, I just don't want that pink heart on my arse, advertising the fact that I'm forty and find it hard to buy jeans.

sapphireblue · 18/08/2010 16:14

don't get me started either!! It's a bloody nightmare.......and I HATE it that DH can walk into a shop, pick up a pair of jeans and buy them knowing that they will fit without even trying them on. I haven't had a perfect pair of jeans for about 5 years now ......only got 5ins difference between waist and hips so guess I'm just not a normal shape.......

stleger · 18/08/2010 16:15

Per Una from marks fit me - but the Per Una knitwear and skirts and things are hilarious!

ValiumSingleton · 18/08/2010 16:17

Yes, so bridge lady isn't it, the whole range. My mum has that cardigan with the big buttons that I see on loads of other bridge ladies.

skyeplusbump · 18/08/2010 16:21

getofmoiland maybe they could go shopping together...then go home and ponce in front of the mirror, that way i wouldnt have to keep pretending i understand...Grin

MissWooWoo · 18/08/2010 16:24

YANBU

when your dp has a waist, some hips and an arse to speak of then he may comment, until then I say SHUSH!!!

SummerRain · 18/08/2010 16:25

I'm 5'9 but have legs the same length as my 6'4 father. I'm a 10... sort of, because my hips aren't really so jeans that fit my hips tend to fall off and jeans that don't fall off then to make me feel squashed and emit worrisome ripping noises from the seams when i sit down.

On top of that i find it impossible to simply sit in a chair... i always have my legs pulled up under me so skinny jeans or anything too tight on the leg is a no go as a) they hurt the backs of my knees and b) i stretch the knees on them and they end up all baggy and peculiour looking.

For all the above reasons i live in Road Jeans... have done since i've been 16. In fact i need to buy a few more as I bought loads after having ds2 but have since gone down a size and they keep falling off Grin

MorrisZapp · 18/08/2010 16:26

I'm still mourning the demise of a pair of jeans I had twenty years ago (anybody remember the brand C17?) Gawd, but they were good.

I look in River Island and it's a sea of distressing, chains dangling and eye watering hip lines, then I look in M&S and that soul destroying pink heart.

Surely there has to be a middle way for us 30 plus types who are not yet ready for mom jean hell.

Itsjustafleshwound · 18/08/2010 16:30

Even my maternity jeans with the bump elastic made me weep ....

I am too young for elastic waistbands and sensible green cross shoes

Mowiol · 18/08/2010 16:34

And in case you haven't seen it yet:

Oh yes, the jeans in River Island are a scary sight!!
