To actually really dislike being pg?

moonminmama · 11/08/2010 17:17

Don't get me wrong, this was an entirely planned pg and I absolutely can't wait for dc no2 to arrive. But the actual pregnancy part, I hate! I so wish I was one of the ladies that 'glow' and 'blossom' during pg.

Someone please tell me I am being unreasonable and tell me all the good things about being pg as opposed to the fat, tired, spotty, sick aspects of it!!

No, you are right, there are no good aspects, they are all lying to feel superior.

There is nothing good about pregnancy. Yes, you get a baby at the end, so that is not a positive of pregnancy, but, in fact, a positive of no longer being pregnant.

Morloth · 11/08/2010 17:24

Pregnancy and breastfeeding are a PITA.

Al1son · 11/08/2010 17:25

The best bit of my pregnancies was the first time I managed to clean my teeth without throwing up. It was after the birth both times.

Being pg was foul and I never bloomed or blossomed or anything else that sounded nice. I looked like a beached whale and felt like sh*t every day.

Mind you I would do it all again tomorrow if I wasn't worried about SN. It was worth every minute of both pregnancies to get my girls.

Squitten · 11/08/2010 17:25

YANBU - I'm also not one of those happy, glowing people

I would happily put my little foetus in a jar and come back and get it later Grin! But I am doing this for the second time so I really can't say I didn't know any better...

nancydrewrocked · 11/08/2010 17:26

I love being pregnant for a small window between about 22 and 32 weeks:

I look pregnant (rather than fat) my pregnancy induced acne has disappeared; I am no longer glued to the sofa compelled to eat potato snacks 24hrs a day to stop throwing up and I can still walk without a waddle.

Sadly I am still at the puking stage and inclined to agree with the OP!

Morloth · 11/08/2010 17:27

You should be able to buy children at around 2ish (after potty trained). Amazon could perhaps deliver?

coraltoes · 11/08/2010 17:28

i used to look at pg ladies an think "wow they look amazing" now i look at myself and see spots, lank hair, tight bra, bags under eyes and a half eaten bag of random crisps in my lap and think "you look like a heap of shit"

hoping i start to bloom real soon.

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 11/08/2010 17:31

Pregnancy is complete hell. I hated it both times. The only nice bit was when you can first feel them move, and that very soon looses it's appeal when they start kicking the hell out of your insides and you can hardly breath!!!!

pjmama · 11/08/2010 17:33

Being pregnant is horrible. People tell you it's "uncomfortable". They should be honest and tell it's actually nauseaous, exhausting, tortuous and downright painful. If the end result weren't so bloody brilliant, nobody would ever do it!

moonminmama · 11/08/2010 17:34

Coraltoes- that is exactly how I feel!!

morloth I absolutely agree!

This is my second lo so I knew what I was getting myself into. I think I had convinced myself that it can't have been THAT bad. Oh how wrong I was

I'm so glad I started this thread. I was beginning to think I was some kind of female freak for not enjoying something that I thought all other woman enjoyed Smile

YANBU - I looked blooming in pregnancy - blooming awful I'll tell you!

sweetsherry · 11/08/2010 17:36

It can get uncomfortable. But infertility is quite a bit worse..

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 11/08/2010 17:42

YANBU. As much as I have loved DD to bits from the milisecond she was born, I hated every moment of pregnancy.

But I agree with sheetsherry, it's preferable to not being able to conceive, most definately...

hmmSleep · 11/08/2010 17:42

YANBU moonminmama!

I'm currently 29 weeks with number 3 and hating it.

I feel tired, irritable, spotty, uncomfortable, can't sleep, indigestion, sore back moan moan moan. Ahhh, that's better!

moonminmama · 11/08/2010 17:42

Sweetsherry- I totally agree and really didn't want to offend anyone. I just feel rotten atm, I know I shouldn't but I have taken a little relief in the fact that I am not alone.

Ooops, sweetsherry

I'm really sorry Blush

stupidgreatgrinonmyface · 11/08/2010 19:01

I would go through labour a thousand times if I didn't have to do the nine months beforehand! 24/7 sickness, that lasted the whole nine months (both times) so that I ended up in hospital on drip. Not having enough fluid in me to even be able to do a wee. Did I mention the constant throwing up? Even with a glass of water!

Coupled with the constant threat of MC (had three, including the twin to DC1).

I appreciate that infertility is awful, but sometimes, so is being pregnant!

lindy100 · 11/08/2010 19:15

I'm getting broody again and really jealous of and excited for friends and family who are pg at the moment.

I'm sure all that will change the minute I puke, though.

dawntigga · 11/08/2010 19:19

YANBU I loated being pregnant and I didn't really have any pg horrors.

proseccogirl · 11/08/2010 19:28

YANBU - I am also expecting a much longed for, and very much planned DC. Can't wait for the baby to arrive and am delighted to be expecting her, but I HATE being pregnant. Sick, swollen, can't sleep, carpal tunnel, hip/back/everywhere else pain, breathless all the time, feel like a huge immobile sow. Its dreadful.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 11/08/2010 19:32

To actually really dislike hate being pg?

There that's more like it. YANBU.

MistyB · 11/08/2010 19:33

So now that you know you are not alone you need to treat yourself.

Facial (for spots), accupuncture and/ or tissue salts for nausea, massage just to make you feel a bit less uncomfortable, lots of day time sleep at the weekend and your favourite smoothie every day.

Diamondback · 11/08/2010 19:34

Pregnancy is pants. Yawn time for bed now - it's 7.30pm already!

MistyB · 11/08/2010 19:35

Oh and in the dream world where time and money are endless, manicure, pedicure and frequent visits to the hair dresser!!

proseccogirl · 11/08/2010 19:37

Agree with treating yourself - I am having as many massages/yoga classes/pedicures/cinema trips/meals out as I can possibly afford and find time for. All pregnant ladies should do the same - we deserve it! If you can't afford a massage - make your DH give you one. I am expecting DC1 though - so I probably have a lot more time than you do!!
