Im.finding.it.a.bit.wrong(sorry.about.the.dots.my.space.bar.has.just.fallen.off)

DS is nearly 12 and i know shouldnt have fb.yet but i monitor it hence my noticing this woman on his fb, i didnt think this was allowed regardless of whether she still taught at DS's school or not..

She taught him for most of yr3 and he has jsut going into yr7 so almost 4 yrs later she makes contact....

Ihave just had a call from ds's hm as i tried to reach him and he is going to tell her to remove herself from DS's fb immediately and any other pupil she may have befriended

AIbU to be mystified and a bit rattled by this womans behaviour??

I may be being silly here, i don't really use FB but do a wee bit of looking on my OH's account.

Sometimes he gets a friends request that looks as though a friend has asked to befriend him so he accepts......then it somehow looks as it's him who has asked the person to be his friend instead???? Don't know if this is making sense lol

Basically we think it happens if someone you know suggets a friend to you, but it looks like the person they have suggested is the person who has asked you, then goes back to the suggested person as though you have asked them.

Could this be the case? sorry for the long winded post Blush

I would try to make very very sure of what happened before leaping in. Calling her and telling her to remove your child and all other students is completely out of order (many of them may actually be over 13 and using their judgement over whether to accept an invitation or their parents may feel it is fine). You can't be sure she invited him. So, why not simply remove her, and send a message saying why? And all this 'one year doesn't make a difference' stuff, it clearly does and your son is 11 anyway. Thirteen is a minimum age, so perhaps a few years are required before he can maturely manage his account.

YABU

Your son is BU

The teacher is BU

Huge difference between 12 and 13 in the eyes of the law.

swallowedAfly....your post just made me smile in a relieved kind of way Smile...because you really get it Smile

I know ive broken fb rules, I know DS shouldnt have accepted him as a friend a combination of errors that are my fault...and i have in no way tried to swerve to avoid that responsibility...

If this reporting to the HM stops something more sinister happening in the future then it can only improve the situation?....tbh if the teachers did laugh at my expense........well no biggie Grin
