Totally agree with you!!! Pretentious and annoying. I'm an English teacher and I make loads of typos late at night on here myself.
I would never dream of pulling someone up on their grammar, unless they were in one of my classes and it was my professional duty.
All should be welcome on here, regardless of education or ability to express ideas in perfect English. It's MUM's Net for goodness sake, not Elitist Snobnet.
People should be gracious and supportive. End of.

scottishmummy · 26/07/2010 23:10

ElitistSnobNet,has a certain fission - likey it

PosyPetrovaPauline · 26/07/2010 23:54

Mumsnet is the epitome of snobbery and elitism - that's why i come here!

Henny1995 · 27/07/2010 00:21

It does Scottishmummy, but Mum's net should do what it says on the tin, as should Elitist Snobnet
Again, Posy PP, that might be why YOU come here, but it's not why thousands of mums looking for support/advice come here.
Here's to reclaiming Mum's net for the ordinary mums.!!!

Henny1995 · 27/07/2010 00:41

So "14 year olds" and people that YOU deem "Trolls" are worthless.??? Are your opinions so great then? Your lack of humility and grace suggest the contrary. I have taught many 14 year olds with more respect for the human race than you show here, and also with more wisdom and maturity.

Get OVER yourself and start to be real. You may find yourself liberated from the stick up your ass.

seenyertoeslately · 27/07/2010 01:02

Apologies for lagging hours behind the conversation as usual.

How is bawbag onomatopoeic? Ones I've met have always been silent (though deadly).Possibly couldn't be classified as precious moments either.

Is it because of where I live? The wikipedia article on onomatopoeia explains why different words are used to illustrate the sounds frogs make in different parts of the world - is the same true of bawbags?

FellatioNelson · 27/07/2010 08:13

LeQueen - You are my kind of girl.
I have said many a similar thing over the years. I'm a like to think I'm an easy-going mother, not easily fazed. I've dealt beautifully with teenage sex, and I imagine I'll be ok when the time comes to deal with drugs, shop-lifting, first major drunken debacle, exam fails etc. But give me a double negative (or a piece of woeful jewellery from Argos) and I turn into Piper Laurie from Carrie.

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/07/2010 09:17

Henny1995 - the year you were born then?

scottishmummy · 27/07/2010 10:06

bawbags schlep about most definitley onomatopaeic

scottishmummy · 27/07/2010 10:09

if Mn did what it says on the tin, would literally be a net of mammies.hmm a gaggle of disprate women all in a net

fuck that for a game

ElitistSnobNet sound much better

FellatioNelson · 27/07/2010 10:19

Sign me up for Elitist Snob Net immediately.
Sounds like a home from home for me. It's so therapeutic being able to rant anonymously about other people's general downmarketness and all-round lack of taste and standards.

Jane054848 · 27/07/2010 11:24

Most online chat sites are unbearable to read because everyone talks in text speak with no grammar or punctuation. If people being overly arsey about grammar and spelling keeps that from happening on here, maybe it's worth it.

scottishmummy · 27/07/2010 20:41

some clenchie getting arsey bout spelling is never worth it.
