To think that Denise Fergus should have stayed at home?

I don't understand why she (mum of Jamie Bulger) had to go and sit in court when John Venables was being sentenced for his more recent crime. I will never forget the horror of hearing what happened to her little boy, and I know that she will never get over it - but how can it possibly help her to keep appearing on tv and making statements about what happens now? She seems to feel she has a right to be told all about everything, and while I can sympathise with her opinion to a certain extent I don't know that she does really. I saw her being interviewed when he was arrested earlier in the year and she said she'd had to keep her children off school because of the publicity - but she seems to be generating a lot of it herself.
Please don't think me hard hearted, it's just that I don't get it.

I'm not a 'twat'
Just because I disagree?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 25/07/2010 22:56

How do you know this, please?

desanimaux · 25/07/2010 22:56

I never said she was shoplifting.

AgentZigzag · 25/07/2010 22:56

You're making perfect sense to me MrsDeVere, nothing to be confused about.

'I am not blaming her for the death of her child.'

Now that is a lie.

FallingWithStyle · 25/07/2010 22:56

You have blamed her.
Called her a one trick pony.
Said she's made a career out of attending the opening of an envelope.
Insinuated that media deals made it all worth it.

LadyBlaBlah · 25/07/2010 22:57

Really you are

AgentZigzag · 25/07/2010 22:58

Yes, like BALD said, how do you know you're not a twat, evidence please??

thefirstmrsDeVere · 25/07/2010 22:59

DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN?

desanimaux · 25/07/2010 22:59

I know someone who worked in a dept store in Bootle that day (no, not the butcher's, before you jump down my throat!).
What do you want, their name and address?
I don't CARE if you believe me, what names you call me.
I just want someone (anyone?) to realise that the world isn't just black and white with nothing inbetween.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 25/07/2010 23:01

Aha

so heresay not evidence

I see

Thank you

desanimaux · 25/07/2010 23:01

thefirstmrsDeVere
YES, I HAVE CHILDREN
WHEN THEY WERE TODDLERS THEY WERE ALWAYS IN SIGHT.

desanimaux · 25/07/2010 23:02

What part of "I know someone" do you have difficulty understanding?

AgentZigzag · 25/07/2010 23:02

So you know someone, who knows someones auntys, brother-in-laws, daughter, who worked in the shop five doors down six years after he was murdered do you?

Wow.

That's scientific evidence if ever there was that she's to blame.

thefirstmrsDeVere · 25/07/2010 23:02

I am not sure what you want us to believe.

That she neglected her child
That she enjoys the attention having a murdered child brings.
That the money she has been paid since he died compensates for his loss.

What?

You just seem to want to be vile about someone you dont know for something terrible that happened to her child. Why?

My turn

FallingWithStyle · 25/07/2010 23:03

What part of "gossip is not fact" do you not understand?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 25/07/2010 23:03

What part of hearsay not evidence do you have difficulty understanding?

thefirstmrsDeVere · 25/07/2010 23:04

Ok, so you have children.

So if one of them died/was killed, how much money would make it ok?

How much media attention would make their death worthwhile?

2shoes · 25/07/2010 23:04

i don't think she understands anything,
attention seeking at it's worst

sevenkeystomysoul · 25/07/2010 23:05

Haven't read all of this thread, just the first page, and a quick glance at the latest posts makes me glad I haven't. But just wanted to say that this is a bereaved mother, time surely doesn't heal those wounds. And the circumstances of her little boys death were truly horrific. I admire her for maintaining such diginity. Had it been my child, and one of his killers was given a lenient sentence, a hugely expensive new identity, and yet still re-offended, I would have had to be restrained from going to court and driving a stake through his evil heart. Op, I think you are being extraordinarily unreasonable, and not a little cruel, in judging this mother, don't you have anything better to do?

desanimaux · 25/07/2010 23:05

Agentzigzag
No, that's not what I said, but without publishing their name and address you're not going to be satisfied, are you?
tfMDV
believe whatever the fuck you like. I don't want to be vile for the sake of it but I can't abide this thoughtless bandwagon-jumping.

desanimaux · 25/07/2010 23:07

"if one of them died/was killed, how much money would make it ok?"

Shame on you.

LadyBlaBlah · 25/07/2010 23:09

Call the Irony police - "can't abide this thoughtless bandwagon-jumping"?

ROFL

FallingWithStyle · 25/07/2010 23:09

But if your issue is with the opinions SOME people hold (and as are entitled to them as you are your opinions (opinions that is, not your half baked facts)) about crime and criminals in general, and JV and RT in particular then there is no need for your comments about Denise Fergus. Surely?

How is that related?

LadyBlaBlah · 25/07/2010 23:10

Call them again @ "Shame on you"

SalFresco · 25/07/2010 23:10

It would be funny, if this wasn't all so horrible, that you actually think that knowing someone who worked in a shop and might have seen Denise that day - not even the shop it happened in - lends credibility to you ill-informed, contradictory, ignorant arguments. I mean, seriously.
