been having lessons for months now and decided to get one put in at home!

its amazing for fitness and so much fun, i have really toned up since doing it and i am thinking of possibly teaching it from home if i get good enough. and dp enjoys watching me practise although i reckon the novelty will probably wear off soon

my mum did a bit of a "cats bums mouth" when she first saw it though and dp darent even tell his mum i have got one! haha

actually somewhere local to me (a small gym) offers pole dancing fittness classes and parties - and they say you can have a party in your own home as their poles are fully removable and be used at home with damaging the ceiling or the floor

Most poles are pressure mounted. No screwfixing or anything.

I suspect that may on th Tescos banned list , along with pyjammas and carrying kids on your shoulders!

Jamieandhismagictorch · 19/07/2010 15:22
  1. "toning" = what you do with a Slendertone belt watching box sets of House (when not MNing)

  2. when not in use by supervixen, the children could pretend they are on a bus

AnyFucker · 19/07/2010 16:07

tocc...

We could probably compile a very long list of things which are now acceptable that were once risqué/taboo/the domain of the sex industry in history but now perfectly mainstream.

that may very well be the case...don't make it right though, does it ?

superv1xen · 19/07/2010 18:44

yeah they are pressure mounted and easily removable so no damage to your floor or ceiling.

and, yes, i did start a thread about not wanting my dp to go to a strip bar...i thought someone might remember that. but having a pole in my home doent make me agree with clubs where men pay women to strip for them.

SV...can you honestly not see the irony here ?

Normalising pole-dancing in your living room as just "something mummy does to stay toned" to your children ?

Bigger picture ? no ?

I despair, really I do

no, my dp isnt interested in strip clubs, if you go back and read my thread.... he was asked to go to a stag do the other week and the groom wanted them to go lap dancing. but in the end he didn't even go on the stag do in the end as he had to work.

so no, i dont feel the need to compete with lap dancers, or indeed, anyone, for dp's attention.

swc, I have to say I am lovin' you on this thread

foureleven · 19/07/2010 22:27

Me too me too, I might 'advanced search' you smallwhitecat.

ThatBloke · 19/07/2010 22:41

Facepalm. That is all.

foureleven · 19/07/2010 22:47

ThatBloke... oh god.

Is that a typo.. should it be 'ThatTwat'?

Youre the guy from the alpdancing thread trying to bring your world of warcraft facepalm in to our realm arent you.

It didnt catch on before and it wont catch on now so please do go away, there's a dear.

foureleven · 19/07/2010 22:49

ha ha 'alpdancing' now that would be a good form of exercise... and I believe a far healthier one.

AnyFucker · 19/07/2010 23:08

lol @ alpdancing

Yes, the "facepalm" thing sounds very familiar

what was your name on that other thread, ThatBloke ?

very disingenuous to namechange when you got outed for trolling before

jonicomelately · 19/07/2010 23:13

Just think about your daughter OP.

Right now she's probably not old enough to realise the significance of the pole but when she is older chances are she probably won't like it.

Thinking back to my own childhood, I'm glad I don't have to live with the memory of my mum installing a pole in the living room

Seriously, you are exposing her to inappropriate sexual imagary. By all means do what you have to do in private but don't bring it into the wider family domain.

ThatBloke · 20/07/2010 08:51

Trolling? Certainly not.

World of Warcraft? Never.

I'm fairly new here so obviously, haven't twigged the etiquette.

I've only posted under the name above.

Perhaps a little latitude might be in order

GetOrfMoiLand · 20/07/2010 09:08

What the bloody hell does facepalm mean?

By smallwhitecat
why can't you go to a gym like a normal person? Why the tedious exhibitionism? "OOoh aren't I daring and liberated". Actually no; you've just swallowed one of the more moronic aspects of popular culture and puked it back out again.

Smallwhitecat has said everything I want to say about this ghaslty idea.

If anyone I knew had a lapdancers pole in their sitting room, I would assume that they were a bit stupid, read Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic books and sang 'here come the girls' after a few zinfandels on a night out with her bezzie mates.

In short, NOT the type of person I would like to spend any time with.

Judgy, yes.

RubberDuck · 20/07/2010 09:11

Facepalm

RubberDuck · 20/07/2010 09:11

(note: I'm explaining what it is, not doing it - before I get flamed )

RubberDuck · 20/07/2010 09:23

As an aside, I love this article explaining the different 'camps' of feminism on this issue:

A Feminist Defense of Pornography

(I would probably describe myself as somewhere between the liberal and pro-sex camps myself - wish there was more female-friendly non-exploitative porn out there and get twitchy at any mention of censorship/banning).
