been having lessons for months now and decided to get one put in at home!

its amazing for fitness and so much fun, i have really toned up since doing it and i am thinking of possibly teaching it from home if i get good enough. and dp enjoys watching me practise although i reckon the novelty will probably wear off soon

my mum did a bit of a "cats bums mouth" when she first saw it though and dp darent even tell his mum i have got one! haha

Dittany & Everyone else:
(1)Actually pole dancing did not originate in a stripclub. It originated in India(or china there is still argument about who started it). Young men would go out and hang and invert on trees to gain exercise.
(2)Pole dancing actually has a LARGE male following. Around the 1920's it was included in circus acts. They would use the center of the tent, the supporting pole, to perform acrobatics.
(3) It was not put into a stripclub until the 1980's.
(4) Exotic Dance originally was performed by women for women in ancient times. It did not get its negative connotation and begin to be performed by men until religion got a hold of it.
(5). The reason women lack clothing while they dance is to check for proper alignment(much like a ballerina wearing tight clothing) and for sticking to the pole.
(6)To children it is a piece of playground equipment. So if you think they have a negative impact on children you should ban playgrounds.
(7) It is all in how it is performed. Most pole fitness dancers do not dress or perform provocatively. They actually do acrobatics. It is almost identical to uneven bars. Most performances can be broken down into yoga flows. So unless you think yoga is sexy and objectifying women, then your entitled to your opinion.
(8). If she does perform for her husband that is between her & him. Its called a healthy relationship. They please you, you please them. That is not objectification! Its a happy marriage.
(9)In short if you do not know anything about the subject you are speaking please keep your closed mind to yourself by shutting your mouth.

OP enjoy your pole! It takes a strong women to be a pole dancer and admit to it, because of people like that. You should never have to apologize to others about what makes you happy.
