to think single parents get, kind of, forgotten in the general scheme of things

Right, so I'm a single parent, no big deal there, I prefer it to the alternative and generally get along fine. But most of my close friends are smug marrieds (maybe not smug, as such, but don't know they're fucking born kind of take their priviliged lives for granted). I don't have much money and babysitters are a once-in-a-blue-moon phenomenon, but would it kill the fuckers to invite me to a day time bbq on a Sunday when they know DD is with her dad and I'm on my own? I know they don't do it consciously, but I kind of fall off the radar on these occasions.

My situation is the opposite - I have been 'dumped' by more than one newly single friend who finds it much more fun to go out clubbing or dating with other single friends than associating with 'dull' couples.

scottish mummy - as you are interested, Albanian blood feuds involve villages in Albania where the inhabitants for centuries have been murdering each other for a perceived slight one great great great grandfather inflicted on another's goat some hundreds of years ago.

I was just saying that you and runny b have something to teach them about hanging on to pointless old feuds. And boy! I sure wasn't wrong. Dorie bringing up the chase of course. A creditable performance, well done.

Interesting perspective Ragwort. Maybe it is mmy age, approaching 40 the thought of going out clubbing fills me with cold dread; I much prefer going round to other people's houses to eat and chat... but the invites are definitely slower coming from the couples who do appear to prefer socialising wiht other couples.
