Hello 👋 done several of these and Dry Jan's before. Need a reset after creeping back up to unhealthy daily drinking. Anyone looking for a daily check in and support please join me.

Can't believe how quickly the month has gone, haven't felt like I've struggled too much at all. Do we have any of the pp still lurking here? Looks like it's just been the 5 of us the past week

I agree @Hohofortherobbers it has mostly not felt like a struggle. Thank you for starting the thread though because there were a couple of Saturdays where I would have been sucked into drinking if I had not already committed to this. This Saturday is another one with pub plans but I'm feeling confident that it will not be a problem.

Hohofortherobbers · 28/10/2026 22:17

I know, I would have given up and had a drink too if I didn't have this thread to be accountable too.
Thank you all for keeping me company 🥰

It’s Friday and almost there! although I know some of you started before October.

Day 32 for me, and have a bottle of AF sparking rose ready in the fridge for tonight. Crazy isn’t it, I really struggle drinking the calories of an AF bottle, as would never normally have sugary drinks, but didn’t seem to care about throwing around 700 calories down my neck with a bottle of wine!

IdRatherWakeFreshAt6am · 30/10/2026 18:37

I'm the same @Tryingnottofalloff , thinking very carefully before drinking a hot chocolate or even an appletise, but merrily downing a bottle of wine or a load of sugary cocktails.

Last weekend of Sober October! I am on day 40 and after tomorrow there will not be another reason for me to drink until mid November, so I should make it to 50 days and then will decide what's next.

How is everyone feeling at the end of the break? The sleep is soooo good isn't it?

ThistimeImdone · 30/10/2026 20:13

Still here! Only day 21 for me but definitely going to keep going. Enjoying feeling less shite! And better sleep is wonderful.

Lol @Hohofortherobbers we did end up hiring a cabin because a vw and rain just dont work plus the gales meant the kids couldn't really sleep in the roof. But I've done it sober and drinking and actually sober is easier- funnily I thought booze would take the edge off but actually all the tricky things with camping are waaaaay less tricky sober! I say camping but we hire a vw camper, not a tent person 🤣

Hohofortherobbers · 30/10/2026 22:20

Sounds a memorable holiday 😅
The sleep is good, I woke about 5am this morning in exactly the same position i fell asleep in. I must have been out cold!
I know I'll drink again, probably not Sunday, but there's some socials in Nov where a large malbec will be offered. I've enjoyed the reset though and will undoubtedly be back for a dry Jan. Shall I tag you in it?

We made it! Well done to everyone who got to the end and also to everyone who tried because it's important to keep trying. I am raising a cup of decaf tea to you all. Yes please tag me in January @Hohofortherobbers. I have enjoyed having company here for this month and will look forward to doing it again ❤️

I am writing this as a reminder to my future self and also in case it helps anyone else who is reading: day 41 and my sleep, energy levels, general mood and mental clarity are all noticeably better. I feel like this week there has been a noticeable change. Also all of the occasions where I thought I would miss drinking were actually still totally enjoyable without. So for the moment anyway, I'll think about joining a longer term thread.

Hohofortherobbers · 31/10/2026 22:20

Congratulations to you all 🎊 👏
I feel more energetic, less anxious, sleep much better and am proud of myself.
Good luck on the longer term thread @IdRatherWakeFreshAt6am
I'll see you after Xmas 👋

I'm with you @IdRatherWakeFreshAt6am life is easier sober!

Tryingnottofalloff · 01/11/2026 09:43

Well done everyone and thank you for starting this thread @Hohofortherobbers, it has without doubt kept me on the straight and narrow! And I’ll be joining you too @IdRatherWakeFreshAt6am in keeping on going - I’m just beginning to notice the benefits and I know from past experience that it just keeps getting better with every day I remain AF.
