Hello 👋 done several of these and Dry Jan's before. Need a reset after creeping back up to unhealthy daily drinking. Anyone looking for a daily check in and support please join me.

Some really positive updates, especially on the health front and hopefully the cough will clear up faster with not drinking @Hohofortherobbers

Day 16 and wish I could fast forward a week or so - not because I’m in a rush to complete sober October, but because I want to start feeling some of the benefits; still dog tired and somewhat flat.

Today was the first day that I had a real craving and then had that crushing disappointment that I couldn’t have a drink - thankfully it soon passed and definitely brought on by hunger and tiredness.

However, I’ve splashed out on the three spirits nightcap for this weekend. Haven’t tried it yet but hope that it will give that initial fiery hit and mouth feel that it boasts, as I’m so fed up of the overly sweet, schloer tasting af wines.

Today is the first day I could have caved. Horrible day at work and could sink 2 large riojas easy 😪
However I will stay sober this month, so chugging back the Heineken 0%. The rioja is unlikely to help me face work tomorrow

@Tryingnottofalloff I'll be very interested to hear what the spirit is like. I like a spicy full bodied red like shiraz, malbec or rioja. Id like a drink that makes you softly go "haaaa" when you drink it 🫠

Absolutely - Let’s hope it lives up to the hype!

Well done everyone and hang in there tonight @Tryingnottofalloff and @Hohofortherobbers

It's great reading about people's stats. I don't wear my Fitbit any more but when I did my resting heart rate dropped too. Most of us probably don't need a device to tell us how much better our sleep is ❤️

Day 24 for me now and it is motivating to see my longest streak go up every day. I have had a few moments of temptation but they pass. Tonight was dinner out in drinking company but the food was the main event for me and I was perfectly happy with a pot of tea after dinner. I found this article quite motivating - our brains do a huge amount of recovery from sustained over consumption of alcohol, in the first month of abstinence.

I drink the three spirits nightcap, I didn't love the taste at first but it hit the spot; that haaa moment is the best way to describe it. I now love it and look forward to it. Definitely recommend. I quite like social (i think - the watermelon one whichever that is) mixed with AF fizz. Also crodino and an alcohol free fizz go down well. But nightcap definitely hits the spot best. (I'm a malbec drinker.) Oh and it's cheapest on amazon!
Well done @Hohofortherobbers for resisting. Thanks @IdRatherWakeFreshAt6am things like that always help!

Thanks @ThistimeImdone - that’s where I ordered it from and can’t wait for tomorrow night for that hopefully ‘haaaaaaaaaaa’ moment - can you see how much I am need 😁

Feeling a bit brighter today, although a terrible
nights sleep again - woke up for the toilet and then was awake for a good hour after - of course this could all be down to my age but I’m hoping that the longer I continue af that my sleep will improve.

I’m looking forward to reading that later @IdRatherWakeFreshAt6am, anything that lists the positives is always so motivating and adds to the list of reasons not to start drinking again.
