Calling Time on Wine - 100 Day Reset | Thread 2: One Day at a Time - Together

Welcome to Thread 2 of Calling Time on Wine 100 Day Reset 🍵

If you’re here, you’re doing something genuinely brilliant. This reset isn’t about perfection, shiny lives, or pretending it’s easy. It’s about choosing ourselves one day at a time, even when life keeps lobbing chaos our way.

We’ve already proven we can sit with hard evenings, bad days, stress, boredom, celebrations, and still not reach for wine.

Thread 2 is about keeping the momentum going, supporting each other, being honest when it’s tough, celebrating the wins and remembering why we started when motivation wobbles. Clearer heads. Stronger bodies. 💪

So pull up a chair, grab your tea, water, or AF alternative, and keep going. You are not doing this alone - and you are doing so well. 💛

@SwiftyFiftythat's a wedding horror story all right! Yes I could promise myself a drink later on if it's bothering me and I agree I will be over it by then. I always want a drink when I'm hungry so as long as I eat well I should be fine. My DiL will also be not drinking as she will still be breastfeeding, so that helps as she says she's not missing it. I also wouldn't want to hold a baby if I've had a drink, so from motivation point of view that will be a strong one.

ElizabethBennetsFineEyes · 16/02/2026 21:36

Had such a wobble tonight I almost opened some wine but played it forward and realised I dont want to feel awful and have to go through those days of feeling irritable and anxious again. I think I miss it but I know that that is just the wine trying to get me to drink it! Oof this is hard.

Well done for staying strong! Same happened to me a week ago (although in my case I had a few sips of a beer DP had open in the fridge!)
I was so unbelievably relieved later that evening and the following morning that I didn't cave (fully anyway).
You will be very happy in the morning'

anewyearthisyear · 16/02/2026 22:11

Well done @ElizabethBennetsFineEyes I nearly wobbled myself last night. We were away and flew home yesterday - I didn't really ever drink at airports but I used always have a drink (or 6) once I got home- was really tempted. but glad this morning that I didn't.

2026x · 17/02/2026 06:40

Morning everyone! We’re away this week for half term. We have a flat down on the south coast so it’s somewhere we go a lot. The weather looks a bit grim but hopefully it’s still a nice few days. My mum is coming with us which is lovely for the boys and for her but I have to be honest I find it hard being with her 24/7. Must resist the urge to escape (physically and mentally) to the pub, which (unlike at home) there are various options within walking distance. I’ve got a running buggy down there so need to resort to running not wine if I’m feeling trapped 😂

Lilly11a · 17/02/2026 07:13

Morning girls ( and guys ) checking in. Went threatre Saturday and did miss a drink there , my weight loss had also stalled.

Managed to resist and stick to the water and seem to be back on track this morning.

I m a bit behind most of you so my 50 days will be 24th Feb , that's my current mini target

thisoldcity · 17/02/2026 07:54

@ElizabethBennetsFineEyes'playing it forward' when I have a wobble is something I'm going to use - rather than just how I feel in the moment. My sleep, feelings the next day, etc. Not worth it!

freshstart2026 · 17/02/2026 10:19

Day 48! I’ve woken up with a sniffle and fuzzy head - hope it doesn’t turn into a cold.

I’m very tired as work is taxing at the moment. I’m just really looking forward to Thursday basically and being 50 days sober!

Raindancer101 · 17/02/2026 11:13

Day 49 here so I hit the big 50 tomorrow. I can't quite believe it.

I'm on a gym streak at the moment so I'm feeling pretty good, maybe I'll finally lose a few lb although I must admit my diet hasn't been very good so far this year, so it's a blessing I've not gained weight really. I'm working on that.

I've noticed a huge improvement in my productivity at work. And cheekbones and jawline that I thought were long ago gone for good are a huge motivation. Struggling to find a negative to not drinking really aside from boredom but yet for some stupid reason, I still can't actually imagine not drinking ever, so I'm not entirely sure how alcohol fits in for me in the future.

Hedjwitch · 17/02/2026 19:55

Day 48 done. So nearly blew it yesterday after a lousy day at work and at home but managed to get through. Alarming how strong the cravings can be even after a decent break! But I WILL get to 50 days.

Icecreamhelps · 17/02/2026 20:07

Day 42 done, went out for a pub lunch today first time in a pub since I've stopped. Little voice in my head was saying one glass won't harm, i just thought what's the point and had a lemonade. Really enjoyed my meal and company no alcohol needed.

2026x · 17/02/2026 22:44

Well done everyone approaching 50 days 🙌

managed to talk myself out of several very triggering situations this evening. At one point I felt like I wanted to rip my brain out of my head I was so frustrated by the negotiations and the lack of a ‘good option’ - I really wanted a drink yet I knew I would regret it so I just had to put up with wanting a drink… argh 🤬 stupid brain. I’ve been doing ok being home but being in new situations which I’d formally have drank has been tough today. Anyway - I made it. Phew 😮‍💨

therockingbird · 17/02/2026 23:00

Day 49 done! Quite a challenging evening .. not one but two friends leaning on me filled with wine (on a Tuesday night)..! No judgement - that used to be me. Made me think though 🫤 they have tricky stuff going on but the alcohol surely doesn’t help that. Worse still I had to speak to the ExH last night and he was slurring away.. made me realise I’ve been surrounded by drinkers for some time! He was very much an enabler when we was together - one of the many reasons I left! I’m trying hard not to judge because of my own past drinking but it has kind of helped reconfirm why I’m not drinking. The mindset within me is strong and I’m thankful for that. I’m also focused on exercising and I can’t imagine doing the PT sessions after a bottle of wine the night before.. good god no! Day 50 tomorrow, which I’m delighted with edging over the halfway mark feels good. Sleep well all x x

Yeah, I’ve been telling myself each time we get through a tough situation it’s easier next time. Like training a muscle. 💪

This is how I visualise it, like I'm doing sit ups for my brain.

SwiftyFifty · 18/02/2026 08:27

Fifty days today! Had a very stressful night behind the tv trying to sort then into internet connection. Didn’t think of booze once! Lent starts today so I’m going to ease into that straight away which gives another 40 days to aim for. Got a few social events this weekend though so need to be strong!

freshstart2026 · 18/02/2026 08:49

We’re off for a mini-break today. I’m annoyed with myself as I haven’t managed to fit in any fasting days this week and now we’re on holiday. I’ll have to take this week off I think and get back to it next week, but it’s hard to be patient!

@2026x huge well done for resisting. I know exactly what you mean about the rip your brain out feeling!

GreenCherries · 18/02/2026 09:35

It definitely gets easier once you’ve overcome a particular trigger. I can remember being terribly triggered at about 6 months AF on Christmas Day having not given wine a second thought for months- it was just a trigger I’d not encountered yet!

Day 50 for me today and feeling good. 8lbs down and looking more slim and toned after focusing lots on diet and exercise! Proud of myself.

I have entered a race in July to give me a goal to strive towards!

Fresh mornings never get old ❤️

Raindancer101 · 18/02/2026 09:35

Day 50 today 🎉 I woke up with a headache, stuffy nose and feeling absolutely exhausted which was not the deal for 50 AF days!!! The kids have colds though so it was inevitable. Hopefully, not drinking will mean my immune system is better placed to fight it off.

Icecreamhelps · 18/02/2026 19:25

Massive well done to everyone who hit 50 days today 🎉.
I'm just a few days behind you all. I'm feeling really tired today, but my mood is lifting and I'm having little sparks of creativity and motivation coming back. Just need the lighter nights and a bit of warmth.

GoodNamesOnly · 18/02/2026 21:34

Well done to everyone who has reached day 50 - proud of you and what this group has achieved together! I am not there yet as I drank on 6 Feb. Don't worry, I will get to day 50 too.

anewyearthisyear · 18/02/2026 22:46

Congrats to all those who are at day 50 - and all those who are trying. I'm on day 49 so tomorrow is 50. I'm not sure I'd be at this point without this thread.

Ladymuckypuddle · 19/02/2026 00:20

Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 🥳 to us all who are celebrating day 50!!!!!!! Today and to everyone who has already reached 50 days or are just above too. A massive 👏 well done to us all 🥰

I was watching a midsomer murders tonight and a lady was sipping sherry thought to myself I was never that elegant 🤣

I can't believe how quickly 50 days has gone it's just zipped. Here's to the next 50 days 🍵

needastrongone · 19/02/2026 10:25

Good Morning.

I’m still here, it’s just been a busy few days. They have also been NCD’s - which is my term for No Craving Day 🤣. I’ll take that as a win.

Well done to all of us on the AF journey. I had the one blip with one glass of wine being had, but otherwise sober since Boxing Day.

I agree re triggers being different and you’ve got to encounter each one individually, as @GreenCherries says and then develop a strategy. Well done on entering the race btw!

I too will NEVER get tired of waking up refreshed, and going to bed tired but not comatose. I think that’s the best bit.

I’m also starting to do much more of a skin care regime than I used to. It’s not perfect, I just think the level of exercise I do and my clean (mainly) diet probably contribute more, but I am definitely enjoying the clearer skin I now have and want to help it along a bit.

We are doing amazing!
