Kate Moss: crap mother? but the media choose to ignore it.....

OK, so Kate moss gets scrutinized for her hair, her weight, her boyfriends, her Top Shop collection, her friendship with that frizzy haired hairdresser blokey, her friendship with Sadie Frost etc etc......

But the one thing no-one ever mentions is that she appears to live the life of a single woman, not a mother to a 7 year old....it's Glasto to gigging with Jamie Hince to sharing joints with Lily Allen to holidays in Ibiza.

Yes, yes, I know, on Fathers' Day she went to visit her ex with her little girl in tow but even then, it was Sadie Frost holding Lila's hand, not Kate.

Is there a media ban or something on discussing how little time she spends with her child?

I just don't get it because Katie Holmes gets slated all the time because her kid is wearing high heels / still drinking milk from a bottle / wearing make-up / whatever......ditto Posh, Katie Price....but at least these mums seem to love and adore their kids and like spending time with them. But they get loads of grief.

Kate: nothing. Nobody talks about her motherly responsibilities.
WHY?

Sadie Frost's kids party was at Soho House so not down to SF's behaviour.

I've always thought that KM's daughter was a bit of a fashion accessory. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale seem to do okay as parents as far as media types go.

Francagoestohollywood · 28/06/2010 21:44

On the contrary, I find most of these children being paraded as fashion accessories. At least Lila is home, minding her own business, instead of getting papped with mum/dad on the most recent shopping trip.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 29/06/2010 09:11

Indeed Franca. Would she be a better parent if she pimped her out to the paparazzi like poor Suri seems to be?

Why the sudden vitriol?

The incident with SF's dd was surely down to Soho House staff not vacuuming their floors properly from the previous night - there were hardly bowls of disco biscuits in among the cocktail sausages. This could have happened had any one of us taken our DCs for a pub lunch.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 29/06/2010 09:13

UQD - I don't think your not knowing KM has a child is that telling TBH. At least I'd rather that than her being another one of those First Women Ever To Have Given Birth.

UnquietDad · 29/06/2010 09:30

You could have a point there. It's not like I Follow Her Work.

Err I don't know KM well but I was at a christening she was at quite recently (small, about 25 guests) and she had Lila with her and FWIW she was affectionate and loving, cuddling her, playing games, giggling with the little girl. The parents of the child being christened had asked KM to be a Godparent to their DC so they obviously think she's an ok parent. Also great care was taken so that paps wouldn't get pics of KM's little girl... Those wearing judgey pants might want to remove them. How can you possibly judge someone's parenting from tabloid pics? Duh!!!!

lucykate · 29/06/2010 10:22

don't a lot of celebs do a 'don't photograph my kids' deal with the paps?, that might be why there are very few photo's of km with her daughter.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 29/06/2010 10:50

Perhaps it's time for Kate to get herself a sensible bob, a Boden frock and a part time job baking cupcakes from home/designing tat for Mothercare

mrsshackleton · 29/06/2010 11:28

KM sues the pants off anyone who intrudes into her or her daughter's life

That is why the media is relatively silent on the subject, they'd love to given half a chance

All I know is the daughter spends a lot of time with her Dad. And KM is not perfect but loves her dd. But who is?) [saintly emoticon]

EldritchCleavage · 29/06/2010 12:04

Exactly, mrsshackleton: like JK Rowling, maybe KM has made clear anyone who photographs her DD will face a privacy action. Plenty of celebs do this. Maybe many of the photos you see are taken on days when she does have her daughter with her but the child is excluded from the photos or the picture is cropped. Happens all the time. If so, good on KM for not doing teh child-parading thing.

SpringHeeledJack · 04/07/2010 00:49

ooh that's interesting kittycat

some RL- positive- experience of KM on this thread- rather than 'info' gleaned from the tabloids

cheesesarnie · 04/07/2010 01:13

does it matter?
i hate the way some/lots of celebs use theyre dc as props for the press.well done km for keeping her out of the limelight.
im sure the press are very interested in km as a parent but as othersa have pointed out,are not allowed to print a thing about it.

ReasonableDoubt · 04/07/2010 14:59

I think she's done a sterling job of keeping her child out of the media, actually. Unlike some celebs, who whore their babies around in designer gear to keep column inches when their careers take a nosedive...

clam · 04/07/2010 15:14

If Sadie Frost's DD found that ecstasy tablet "on the floor," then I'm a Dutchman.

SpringHeeledJack · 05/07/2010 09:36

[in a fit of racist stereotyping passes clam a carton of Chocomel a bottle of Amstel and a poke of chips and mayo]
