T'was I MrsBadger

And yes I think you're right about being known by something different. I long for his to be "Sonny Jim". Just for my own personal amusement

spudmasher · 05/03/2010 19:18

HILARIOUS thread!!!!!
I have met him three times. He is not such an arse as he seems.
Still funny thread.

foxinsocks · 05/03/2010 19:20

congrats to her

boy has to be Rodney

GenevieveHawkings · 05/03/2010 23:24

Sausage machine = a woman churning out babies one after another, analagous to a sausage machine churning out sausages.

oxocube · 06/03/2010 07:19

Lots of unkind messages. Good for them. Why all the bitching?

Sparkletastic · 06/03/2010 07:21

Girl - Tina
Boy - Alan

oldenglishspangles · 06/03/2010 07:38

Good for them. congratulations especially after pcos.

sweetkitty · 06/03/2010 07:41

Sausage machine - that must be me as well then!

Seriously though good luck to them, if you look on MN there are loads of threads about couples stopping at 2 or maybe 3 babies and citing money as the reason. I am sure if, as a couple, you were loaded as the Olivers are, could have a cleaner/ironing lady/never have to do the boring domestic stuff and dare I say a nanny to help out you could have 6 children quite easily. I'm sure a lot of people would do.

Fruitbatlings · 06/03/2010 08:45

God yes, i'd have twelve!
Seriously though, I think they are very lucky and I'm very pleased for them.
PCOS is a bastard so I'm sure Jools is counting her lucky stars right now.
I have PCOS and struggle to conceive but I still dream of one day having a girl (I have two boys). I love my boys more than anything and would be just as happy to have another boy - probably find it quite amusing really.
I just have extra fun choosing little girls clothes for my friends with girls - I'd be bankrupt if I had a girl of my own!

Cutie Pants Oliver is my bet

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 06/03/2010 13:50

It will be a boy and it will be called Basil.

RibenaBerry · 06/03/2010 16:04

Oh please let it be a boy called Basil. That would be fantastic.

GenevieveHawkings · 06/03/2010 16:54

Yes, that's right Lockets but I prefer Sausage Machine.

I found Jamie Oliver's comment about his wife very patronising and dismissive:

"She's a mum and that's her world."

Sounds like he's got the measure of her then.

A boring sausage machine who's about as twee as Kath Kidson prints.

bourboncreme · 06/03/2010 17:11

Why is that patronising,if someone said about him "hes a chef and thats his world "no one would say that was patronising. She is a Mum and his eyes plainly a very good one,I think .If someone said that I was a mum and that was the centre of my world I'd be pretty pleased, because it is.
To be quite honest its your comment which is patronising because you clearly believe that being "just a mum is a lesser profession

TheCrackFox · 06/03/2010 17:22

Good luck to them. They seem like they would make nice parents.

BadGardener · 06/03/2010 17:25

I didn't think it was patronising either - his whole point was that his initial response had been to not understand (which was probably more patronising) but he now gets that actually being a mum is important and therefore having that as your world is fine.

RibenaBerry · 06/03/2010 17:27

Genevieve - Don't you think that when you read the whole quote it's actually quite interesting:

'She just wanted to be a mother and that was it. I didn't understand at all. Why would you want to be a mother? We all want to have jobs and careers, don't we?

'Everyone around me was the same. Until she became a mother, I never understood how honest she was being. She's a mum and that's her world.'

He's admitting that, as an ambitious guy, he couldn't really get his head around the fact that being a mum was all she ever wanted in life. I think that's pretty honest of him, and not at all patronising and dismissive. It doesn't sound to me like he doesn't admire being a mum...

TheCrackFox · 06/03/2010 17:27

The "sausage machine" comment wasn't very nice either. I

Blimey, she's happy and so is he and still they are slated, would people rather she had a full time team of nanny's whilst traveling the world nicking other peoples husbands and trying to save the world Angelina style ? Or he was texting glamor models like Ashley Cole ?
Very odd what we consider to be a normal selb couple these days.

noddyholder · 06/03/2010 17:41

Good luck to them Can't understand all teh negativity either.I think he was just acknowledging his own drive to have a career in direct contrast to her single minded devotion to being a mum and all that entails FOR HER!

chipmonkey · 06/03/2010 23:13

Well, I am a sausage machine and I'm proud!

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 07/03/2010 19:27

good for her having the sense to marry someone rich if all she wanted to do was become a mum. truth be told, it's all i ever wanted really as well, but i have to work.

FabIsDoingPrettyWell · 08/03/2010 09:34

He wasn't rich when they got together at 15.
