here we are !!!

Farmville has just got a whole lot more interesting. Thanks Awasasailinglookingforanswers

I have looked and I have another question for you.

Where it says I have 73/350 harvests, is a harvest one single square, so I may have many squares in a single session, or does a harvest mean an entire field of that particular crop IYSWIM?

If it is my entire field, I could be playing when I'm drawing my pension to reach 350 harvests, and that's just one type of crop!! Mind you, that wouldn't be a bad thing, it's great!!!

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 03/01/2010 22:46

lol - it was the mastery things to be worked towards that got me back into FV

a harvest is one single square.

apparently if you slept for 8hrs a night, and planted/harvested as much as is pyschically possible in the waking hours the masteries can be done in 7 months........

Which is ok in my book, as it's long enough to be make it a challenge and keep interest (and lets face it - even I'm not going to get all 42 in 7 months LOL, but not so impossible that you get bored (IMO).

OP posts:
sparklefrog · 03/01/2010 22:59

Thanks for that Iwasasailing

I don't know if I could farm every waking hour, but I have developed a whole new interest now.

Can't wait for my crops to be ready for harvesting now, but it will be tomorrow morning before I can think extra carefully about what to plant next.

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 03/01/2010 23:38

well obviously not actually farming every waking hour, but harvesting/planting as soon as you wake up, being there on the dot for them to be ready etc etc.

I'd plant a 6 or 8hr crop for overnight so that you've got a "clean sheet" to start with in the morning.

OP posts:
Awassailinglookingforanswers · 03/01/2010 23:51

ok "mastered crop" test complete.

It would appear that you get a random number (well it appear random - might be a set %) of that crop that grow bigger (to give you xp when you harvest) - alongside the ones that have been made bigger by your friends fertilizing them. So you do get some extra XP from them once mastered

Hi all, just wanted to mark my place on the new thread. I am very ashamed to say that I've only just realised that the old thread ran out . I have been kept so busy on farmville and country life with all my new neighbours sending me stuff and such a bigger farm that I haven't been on MN.

Anyway, thanks to everyone that's added me as a neighbour. I seem to have had a new influx in the last couple of days and it's all good. (My initials are LC and my photo is of guinea pigs in case anyone was wondering).

I have only just put my golden chickens into my coop, (doh), so hopefully I'll have some golden eggs to post soon. I am still waiting to hatch my first golden egg. They all get snapped up pretty damn quickly.

RantApplause · 04/01/2010 00:10

Cheers Niecie, I told him, he's chuffed now. There's a big competition going on with his workmates so he reckons he has the upper hand now

Well after a very long day, my farm is in tiptop condition, sadly the same can't be said for the house!! I'm off to my bed, must be up early to harvest.

If anyone wants to add me I'd be delighted - I'm claire nic at vodafone dot ie

avatar is cocacola bottle (long story )

Nightnight

nymphadora · 04/01/2010 00:14

Ah medusa I was looking at the guinea pigs today

Lulumama · 04/01/2010 15:49

slightly odd question, but if anyone knows, one of you guys will..... do you sometimes get, what looks like a big gold coin flying through the air when you are ploughing? and if so, what is it ?

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 04/01/2010 15:54

yes I do - I'm still not sure what it is despite it having been appearing regularl for months

OP posts:
silverfrog · 04/01/2010 15:55

it's an extra bonus (100 coins?) - think gold nugget unearthed when digging about.

or something like that.

Lulumama · 04/01/2010 15:55

do you need to catch it, or does it just appear in your coins?
thanks !

Jux · 04/01/2010 15:56

Hi, can anyone tell me about tractors etc? Is it worth buying any of this machinery (on FV or FT).

I can see the point of automation on CL; maybe I don't have that many crops on either of the either games so the machines don't seem worthwhile?

silverfrog · 04/01/2010 15:59

no need to catch it, it (apparently) just gets automatically calculated (I'm always about 200 squares ahead on ploughing/planting so don't notice whether it does get added)

I have a tractor and seeder on FV. I use the trator a lot (especially since the Christmas tree bonus fuel), but the seeder not so much. I never used myharvester so sold it.

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 04/01/2010 16:00

supposedly just appears............but can't say I've ever noticed my coins going up

tractor does make ploughing quicker on FV as it does 4 squares with one click. Obviously there's limited fuel (although free fuel refills seem to be appearing in mystery eggs these days) - but certainly speeds things up. And it refills every 6 hours.

If you plant in blocks of 50 plants at a time you can harvest, plough and seed on one tank.

OP posts:
Lulumama · 04/01/2010 16:33

ok, will pay attention next time i see one

definitely worth getting the tractors etc when you have a bigger farm. i've managed without ever buying fuel, just wait for it to refuel over night.

i just won 25 refills in a mystery egg though !!

Jux · 04/01/2010 16:37

Thanks Awassailing, I've got a few fuel tanks as gifts and was saving them. I don't have enough fields to make it worthwhile though. I quite like having fewer fields and more animals/trees. But then, I'm not very competitive, and anyway, my computer is still crashing at inopportune moments!

sparklefrog · 04/01/2010 17:05

Free fuel in mystery eggs?

Which mystery eggs are these and where can I find them?

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 04/01/2010 17:07

if you've got loads of animals that's probably not helping - they slow the game/computer down loads

OP posts:
Awassailinglookingforanswers · 04/01/2010 17:07

the mystery eggs that appear on the live feed from time to time - i've only found fuel in the brown and golden ones - but as they weren't avaialable at all until recently I wouldn't be suprised if they turned up in white ones sometime soon as well

OP posts:
sparklefrog · 04/01/2010 17:16

Thanks again Awassailing

I keep thinking of more things I would like to know, ha ha.

You know you said that FB friends can be added just to be neighbours on games, and you can limit how much of your profile they actually see, how do I do this?

I need more neighbours on countrylife, and farmville.

Thanks in advance.

RantApplause · 04/01/2010 17:23

Hi all,

Isn't this week supposed to be 'free fuel week'? Anyone know anything about it?

Thanks to those who added me, four new neighbours since yesterday...woohoo!

A few questions about etiquette...

1)I'm only on L29 so can't gift much other than trees, chickens and cows (and Christmas prezzies for another few days). I always have a look at a farm before I send a gift to see if anything is needed, if dairy or coop not full but what do you send someone who has lots of trees and animals?

2)do you publish a 'thank you' to MNers given that it's their RL name? I can't see a problem with it just than I don't want to make some big MN privacy cock-up?

3)When I go in to fertilize a neighbours crops their farmer is always in the middle surrounded by hay bales. Is this to make it easier/quicker for neighbours to fertilize? I don't have room in the middle of my field but I'd be happy to tie up my little farmer in the barn or something (with food and water obviously - I'm not that mean!!)

TIA

I'll be changing back to my usual name in a minute - Scardypants.

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 04/01/2010 17:28

sparkle - you have to create a new list in your friends section and then changed your privacy settings - if you do a google you'll find lots of good explanations of how to do it.

RA

  1. I usually send something that sells for a high value (obviously only way to know the selling price is if you've had one sent to you and as they often change the gifts available no logic to it either
  1. You can publish a "thank you" to MNers - I always do the publish things to thank friends for fertilizing etc, and also click on "like" on bonuses/eggs that I've clicked on and got something from
  1. That's a way to get the game done quicker. It's for our benefit (the person who owns the farm) as well as it means they don't follow you around slowing things down. You can only trap him in hte centre of the field - as that's where he always appears when you go into a farm. Of course you can temporarily trap you own farmer into a corer somewhere if you make him walk there every time and then move haybales etc around. But much easier to make space in the middle and have a permanent trap
OP posts:
Lulumama · 04/01/2010 17:38

got mine in a gold mystery egg

have got rid of lots of animals and trees and going to concentrate on crops

scardypants · 04/01/2010 17:46

Cheers ALFA, I'm away to trap him now!
