I suppose for me it's various Doctor Who personnel due to my peripheral involvement with the "franchise" - Sophie Aldred, who was lovely, and Tom Baker, who didn't disappoint as he was mad as cheese. (My mum also taught him French for a while.) And the luuuuurvely Nicola Bryant who has a dazzling smile!

I was in the company of Will Self for a while at a book do. He didn't really say anything I remember.

Mine aren't especially stellar, so I hope for more from you lot!! No glancing encounters - proper conversations only!

We met Fiona Phillips and her husband on holiday this year, had a drink and chat with them after supper in a restaurant. They were both nice and funny and we ran into them a few times afterwards and had the usual holiday chats. DH doesn't do celebs so he just rabbited on as per usual (nicely I mean to say) and it was only afterwards that he said, oh, yes, they looked familiar.

I met Joe Brand in a local park with her DC playing on the swings with our DSs. I didn't really notice it was her at first. Just chatted for about 10 mins like parents do about schools, kids. Pretty much a standard issue MN discussion.

bibbitybobbityCAT · 05/10/2009 22:11

How funny, I have chatted with Jo Brand in our local park.

Ivykaty44 · 05/10/2009 22:12

The actor from Bread - the oldest son - he stayed at the hotel I worked at and all the cast of a film, they did like a chat and a tipple or bottle at the bar after work, they were all really nice and chilled.

The old guy in harry potter that played also in bands of gold - he was at a house party two doors down, all the neighbours children came and got their copies of harry potter for him to sign. We chatted about reading and not being recognised.

PlumpkinScaryBaps · 05/10/2009 22:13

Apparently we went to tea with Jon Pertwee when I was little, but I don't remember it...

More recently,Jackie Chan, Bob Geldof, Gary Rhodes, one of the ones from Oasis (can't remember which one) and John Torode. (Rude). All through xh who was a v senior chef at a couple of Top London Restaurants.

Oh and as a child I was at the same stage school as Micahela Strachan, if anyone's heard of her.

And Robert Kilroy Silk but I'm not telling you about that

Rudolf Nureyev drank champagne from my mum's shoe at a ball once, so I'm told.

ElecTrickorTreatElephant · 05/10/2009 22:16

Mark E Smith - were sharing a chalet at ATP with the rest of The Fall. Spent quite a while drinking JD and watching The Simpsons, IIRC.

Finlay Quay chatted me up once too - I think I looked at him with utter disgust (IIRC)

ProfYaffle · 05/10/2009 22:20

Not me but my Mum and Dad, Ashley from Corrie lives just round the corner from them and they share the same local. He's apparently very normal, polite and nice.

Kerry Katona is also reported to be a lovely person and has looked after people she knew before she was famous.

lavenderkate · 05/10/2009 22:20

Had a chat with Vernon Kay at a posh evening do recently.

Showed me picture on his phone of new baby.

He looked very very young. (Him, not the baby, althought the baby was younger , oh shut up now LK !)

this isn't mione but is funny

years ago my mate did this buddhist retreat thing over new year - 3 whole days of meditation - no sleep. Only interupted by tiny amounts of water and rice. V intense experience

Er except jasper carrot was sat behind my mate. Said it put him off a bit - his meditation sporadically interupted by thinking about that nobhead thing jc used to do

BramblyHedge · 05/10/2009 22:26

My cousins are in The Feeling

paisleyleaf · 05/10/2009 22:27

hormonstersnomore, funny you should say that about Jeremy Beadle. I saw him at a school fundraising day thing (about 18 years ago) and some lads were mucking about saying "watchout watchout Beadle's about", he said "oh fuck off".
(Perhaps that was an off day).

paisleyleaf · 05/10/2009 22:28

UnquietDad · 05/10/2009 22:31

@RealityBites - yes, one of the recent three. Is that enough info?

CrankOfTheScrew · 05/10/2009 22:36

One of myfriends said Jeremy Beadle was lovely, and v. funny.

@Reality: mine is not '426' or 'TKS'. It's the other. I hope this will be sufficiently incomprehensible to everyone else and enough for you to work it out!!
