Can I have a serious discussion about Katie Holmes?

I am not a terribly celeb obsessed person but I do have a few celebrities whom I am very intrigued by and Katie Holmes is certainly high on that list.

I am the same age as her and sort of remember the very early Dawson's Creek days, and I loved the movie GO as it was (at the time thankfully no longer) very like my life and I really enjoyed watching her. I've always found her fascinating without being entirely sure why.

When the whole Tom Cruise thing happened several years ago I distinctly remember re-reading the headlines because I just could not fathom a connection between the two of them. It was so bizarre!

I am not a huge T.C. fan but I also think the whole "Tom has brainwashed her" thing is probably unlikely???? [naive emoticon?] I mean, she certainly seemed over the moon in love in their early days and has always vehemently defended him.

But I must admit I am puzzled. Her face is such a mystery and she usually looks quite sad. Of course I expect she is totally hassled by the paps, press and non stop attention and I do not expect her to go around happy all the time any more than I do. But it is something more I think in her face than that. I remember once about a year ago I actually nearly teared up because I saw pics of her shielding a crying Suri from this crush and she looked like she just wanted to either kill or cry. I felt so angry on her behalf.

Also all the criticism of her carrying Suri all the time... wtf? Suri would be in danger if she was left to walk on her own at a young age because of all the people around them who are either selfish or out to harm directly. I know they have had death threats. As far as I can see Katie is an extremely devoted mother, her and Suri are pretty inseparable.

I have a lot more thoughts about it (embarrassingly so ) but I need to post this real quick before I eat dinner.

What do you all think/know about it? I know we cant really know but I am really curious. I wish I could be her friend.

lynette the honest answer is I wasnt even eating that whole time DS is autistic and it is a miracle if I have 10 minutes to shovel food down my throat. I'm not saying that to reinforce the "my life isnt simple" thing its just the truth. I am already ill so wouldnt notice indigestion anyway.

I see now my OP "invited" a silly comment or two and I am being really oversensitive I just was hurt by the "do you get out much" and "impassioned OP" and "simple life" comments because I was just wanting to have a good old deep frivolous sleb gossip with some mates. And I am having a hard time at the moment so perhaps not with the emotional fortitude I normally have. But my intention was not to be on a thread about my life and my problems so I shall draw a line under it as it were.

I think the Nicole thing was terrible, I was so hurt for her, she clearly was shocked. And I really thought Katie looked happy at the beginning of the relationship bizarre as it seemed but it just seems weird enough to make me curious when I see pictures.

Tom Cruise comes across as a creepy control freak. I'd worry about her, too, if I could muster the energy to give a fuck.

Oh and I didn't mean to be horrid with the impassioned thing - it was more done to highlight how we'd gone from sympathetic OP to her being frumpy and dour in a few posts.

its ok I am often sarcastic in writing and people get the wrong end of the stick. I just felt felt a bit like "pile in and point and laugh at silly OP" but as I said I am oversensitive at the moment. So I guess I'm sorry for that. Its fine really.

do you think they are in love, I mean as much as we can comment on it... Like I do think Reese Witherspoon and dreamy Jake are in love. But Tom and Katie do my head in.

I can't see it - but she must have been to begin with surely? If she was doing it for her career she would have waited before having a child I would have thought.

thank you cheesesarnie I am a fantastic friend I have a system of giving out numbers to those in the queue for my patronage (another of a string of fallacies on this thread and my book is a romance novel so I dont think it would actually hurt anyone)

loads of people said tom wasnt suri's father i.e. he cant make babies and hired a stud to which katie went a bit mad over.

Ever since i saw Tom in Magnolia I imagine him to be like that and don't like him any more. He was quite cute in Cocktail though . Other than that, the only thought about them i have is that I'd like their spending money!
