I would buy a big house, and buy houses for all family members (they are struggling), and pay off 10-15 closest friends mortgages. A nice pied a terre in london would also be nice. I would do them all up eco style, with solar panels etcs.

I would go skiing again. And take my parents to babysit.

Then i would set up a foundation and give the rest to charity - maybe by getting involved with the board of say, unicef, save the childern (would love to sort out all those glue sniffing kids in nairobi), nspcc. Would really try and use the money to change to world for better - eg climate change, child protection etc.

I would still work, 2 days a week. I would write a book.

Lets hope the winner does give a load to charity rather than buying a thousand yachts...

If only, eh?

TheGreatScootini · 08/05/2009 11:48

Go to work and tell them Im not coming back-but donate enough money for them to buy the disabled access bus we so desperately need.

(Tell the girl in HR who is my nemesis exactly what I think of her )

Pay off debts and mortgage for family and close friends and us obv.

Buy the childres cafe that I dream about owning-but obv only work in it about one day a week.
Rest of the time would be swanning about shopping, have facials and renovating my huge house that I would have just bought.
And I would start horse riding again.I am desperate to but its £30 an hour

Fimbo · 08/05/2009 11:56

I would pay off mortgage on my house, but keep it and rent it out.

I would move to Greenwich and send my dc to private school.

I would have a holiday home in Glasgow and somewhere warm.

I would pay for my pil to go and see their daughter in Australia and perhaps buy them a house out there.

I would buy my parents a small house near my mum's sister.

I would pay off my friends mortgage and give her extra money to move elsewhere.

I would donate some to charities.

I would have a personal trainer and someone to prepare low calorie meals for me. Then when I was nice and slim, I would chuck everything out of my current wardrobe and buy new.

I might permit my dh to give up work

PortoPandemico · 08/05/2009 12:00

I'd go on some very extended travelling over the summer. A nice yacht springs to mind.

I would buy a house with a pool, and land somewhere warm and sunny. Maybe set up a very posh B&B or child friendly holiday place.

Sort out the family's finances/pay off a few mortgages.

Put money away for dd so she's sorted for life.

Put enough away for DH and I to live very comfortably.

Start a charitable trust with the rest.

Sunshinemummy · 08/05/2009 12:15

I would buy this house which is a few doors down from my DCs' nursery.

Peachy · 08/05/2009 12:19

We were discussing this earlier

Dh would get a warehouse (a very small one) and finish setting up the business he has been doing bit by bit. I would run a trust fund with part of it in three parts-
!. grants to famillies on low incomes with children on the autistic spectrum; 2) Buy some static caravans and provide free holidays to same set of famillies; 3) DH will be doing a degree in lighting design, he would provide free designs and funds for sensory rooms to charitable boies / SNU's etc.

We would pay back every bt of charity help we have received with interest.

The boys would continue in their school palces but we would donate the equivalent cost of a private school palce to the schools;

DS1 would get an ABA (ASD) teacher as he is struggling badly in mainstrream ATM but we can't afford the cost.

We didn't get beyond that PMSL, oh a home of our own. That would be enough.

harleyd · 08/05/2009 13:03

first off, i would go out and get very very drunk

after my hangover stopped, i would buy a harley
and perhaps a helicopter

i would knock on the door of a house i covet every day and ask how much it would take for them to move by the end of the month

i would set up a record label and recording studio and sign up lots of funky new bands

I would take £10,000,000 for stuff ( my house, my house abroad, my mums house, some money for my sibs) and live on the interest from the balance.
Withthe rest I would open a centre for young adults with moderate to severe asd offering learning support, nutritional support and access to activities ( horse riding, football, martial arts etc ) And I would build it right next to my house

MrsGJB · 08/05/2009 13:23

Not tell anyone how much I'd won. Then pay off brothers mortgage and debts; buy house for DD1; buy DS1 a house; buy us a new house; donate to a charity I used to be Vice-chair for (enough to make them virtually self-sufficient for a verrry long time); buy myself a large bookshop and turn it into a bookshop/meeting place; then enjoy myself. On a more flippant note - have GS's so called dad 'taken out' - permenantly!!

Castiel · 08/05/2009 13:28

Have driving lessons

Stay in a nice hotel for a couple of nights

Buy some nice things for dd

You lot can have the rest.

EldonAve · 08/05/2009 13:40

this house would be nice
plus a place in Chelsea

PersephoneSnape · 08/05/2009 14:09

I'd keep £3m or so to buy a house and fritter away - then i could paint, draw , write and read to my hearts content and publich the three childrens books that seem to remain in my head rather than on a page. then i am going to throw money at cancer research and find a cure.

alphamummy · 08/05/2009 14:48

OMG ive been thinking about this all week! winning all that money. I think it would corrupt me i wouldnt know who was for real or only liked me for my money!!

Charity's would get at least 50% and the rest would just be shared among family and v.close friends!

right having said the sad bit i'm going to the shop to purchase one!!

EldonAve · 08/05/2009 19:46

I wouldn't tell anyone I had won, not even DH!

Chatkins · 08/05/2009 19:54

I would buy a house with some land and go all good-life, have chickens, ducks, loads of dogs etc

I would have a few more kids

I would buy all my familiy and close friends decent homes to live in, debt free

I would gie up work and live off the land in peace and harmony!

Bonneville · 08/05/2009 20:25

I would ensure close family and friends got a share.

Buy both dds a house.

Give a substantial amount to charity.

Hire a smallish venue and pay Muse to come and perform for just me and a few others.

Walk out of one of my part-time jobs but not the other cos I like it too much!

But on a nasty note - I would buy the two houses either side of my horrid near (not immediate) neighbour and give them free to two families from hell!!!!!!

Thebolter · 09/05/2009 17:03

Pay off mortgage, finish house. Furnish with everything we need.

Think about moving one day to a bigger one.

Give loads away to family and a select group of discreet friends.

Buy a new estate car - Audi/Saab/Volvo/Merc with leather seats and fancy specification.

Pay off my student loan .

Give a massive wedge to several charities.

Hire a luxury Tuscan villa with pool, maid service, butler, chef etc and go on a month's holiday.

Put enough aside for pension/university/possible private schooling.

Put enough aside to live easily within the interest.

Pay for my mil to have amazing nursing care - and my fil to have a holiday with his friends.

Buy several cases of Cloudy Bay... before going on a mega trip around the wineries of New Zealand in a Winebago.

Buy several properties - a flat for my sister, flats forthe dds, a couple of holiday homes.

Not give up work, TRY to keep it all a secret and continue life as it is in every other way!

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 09/05/2009 19:15

Well, some of us actually won the Euro lottery last night

foxinsocks · 09/05/2009 19:16

I won £6.10

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 09/05/2009 19:21

Damn, so did I. You ruined my dragging it out

Have you handed in your notice at work yet (if you WOH)? I don't know what to do with mine. Yacht or Bentley...?

Helium · 16/05/2009 11:30

Bonneville - your idea about installing nasty neighbours on someone actually made ma laugh out loud!!!! HILARIOUS!!!

Really like the idea of employing a teacher who travels the world with you!!
