tmmj - it would feel great to know all your loved ones would be secure and to be able to help charities you support.

TBCoalman · 08/05/2009 11:09

I would use £350 000 to buy a house I have fallen in love with. Put aside £150 000 for future child related costs like school trips and university. Get a fancy wheelchair for Grandma. Put the rest in the bank for a year and continue as normal. Then I'd like a free income of £40 000 a year. I'd get rid of the rest.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 08/05/2009 11:09

I would put £100 million into a charity a bit like the "At home with the braithwaites" story line from a few years ago. It would then be a case of working out with a group of people I trusted where that money is best distributed.

I would pay off my Siblings mortgages, (and ours!) aside from that I would sit tight for a bit and work out what I really wnated to do.

HOWEVER, after a conversation in the pub last night I would have to buy a diamond studed rampant rabit for one friend and a particular pair of white pumps from tesco for another friend. Oh and to pay for Jason Statham to come and do a "private dance" for my friend

TBCoalman · 08/05/2009 11:11

Really, just my current life, but without the bore of work.

hereidrawtheline · 08/05/2009 11:11

I would buy the house I am living in. Buy a bigger one later but secure this one too.

I would go on vacation first and foremost as I need a break. I'd pay someone absolutely lovely to look after DS part of the time on vacation so I could have small breaks from him. I think I would go to Austria, France, then somewhere tropical.

I would repay any tiny little bit of debt i could locate in my life.

I would go shopping, endlessly.

I would go out to dinner in a nice restaurant.

I would relieve my family and friends of any financial worries. Most especially my sister, then my Mom, then everyone else. Its just they are the ones in the most dire situations.

I would buy every single book I ever wanted to read. I would SCOUR the internet and bookshops for books.

I would give to charity but not sure off the top of my head which one yet. There are so many. I might even set a new one up.

I would buy an original oil painting of Marie Antoinette. I would buy anything that ever belonged to her that I could find.

i would by that house on the sea front that i love, install a swimming pool and hire a fitness instructor ( black 6" foot tall, abs)

i would get plastic surgery - to practically everywhere.

i would buy my son a house and have him work in my new business ( see further down)

i would buy houses for family members and pay their utilities.

i would set up an indoor skatepark business.

i would travel the world - twice and decide on where to have two or three holiday homes.

i would have a sound proof studio for my drums and get ds2 the best guitar lessons.

i would get a tutor for dd, and shop shop shop.

buy sil a horse - and pay for the schiz that goes with.

TabithaTwitchet · 08/05/2009 11:19

I would buy a house.
I would give money to friends and family.
I would give money to charity
I would endow a scholarship at my old university
I would be able to consider sending DD to private school
I would think I could now afford to have more children than we have planned to.

BCNS · 08/05/2009 11:21

I'd help out best friend/ family with mortages

I would get a fab car
and a new wardrobe (clothes not the storage)for me and the dc's..

I would take the dc's travelling for 6 months.

I would set up an arts centre for local groups to use and benefit from.

also a purpose built respite holiday place.. for families with sen dc's.

I wouldn't have to worry about uni fees or helping the dc's out with their first house.

I would continue working, ( I love what i do)

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 08/05/2009 11:24

I would buy a house in the village where DD goes to school as its a lovely village and we'd be able to walk rather than drive.

I'd give up work, but stay on the "bank" and carry on doing the odd shift as required.

I'd get a horse and spend a lot of time riding.

I'd have some liposuction.

I'd pay for DD to have some serious skiing tuition as she shows a lot of potential. We'd have long ski holidays.

We'd have lots of holidays/travelling fullstop. Maybe buy an apartment in Tenerife as we love it there.

I'd make sure all my family were sorted financially.

I'd buy a small sailing boat as I used to love sailing as a kid.

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 08/05/2009 11:25

I could nearly pay off my overdraft...

And then I'd buy a night with Scott Maslen, after I'd had all my plastic surgery and lipo obviously

Seriously, the usual dull stuff, nice house, nice car, ditto for family, big bundle to charity, trust funds for dd, nieces and nephews and rest in bank to not build up any interest!

hereidrawtheline · 08/05/2009 11:27

Oh yes lipo for me too

I even dreamt the other night I met some uber cool new york woman who clued me in that the best place for lipo only cost £10!

slug · 08/05/2009 11:29

Oh I've thought about this one...a lot. I would:
Buy the lovely house around the corner from us that has been on the market for over a year.

Set up a trust fund for my family, including cousins and close friends from which they could ask for up to £20,000 every 5 years for items like house deposits, university education, travelling, debt relief etc. I have a very large family and intend to include cousins and those peripheral people who are 'family' but not related by blood.

Buy my neighbour a house as she is pregnant with her fourth child, they live in a two bedroom Council flat and her partner's work is dropping off due to the recession.

Donate lots to Women's Aid, women's refuge and other such charities.

Do up our flat then give it to DD's godfather.

Continue on my quest to travel to as many interesting places as possible, but this time swap youth hostels for hotels with swimming pools.

The only flaw in my plan is my failure to buy any tickets.

LadyOfWaffle · 08/05/2009 11:32

Pay off mortgage , finish doing up house just because it's pissing me off. Let young family live here rent free.

Buy lots of houses , make them nice little family homes and rent them out to families on DSS

Do something for a childrens charity - respite house / childrens home or something, would see whats needed.

Buy medical Equip.

Buy a big house with land, set up massive competition/livery yard/centre, rest home for horses, lovely little cottages for all staff (all eco/solar etc etc)

Get my haircut

Tortington · 08/05/2009 11:32

i would tell rhubarb to go get a house wherever she wanted.

2shoes · 08/05/2009 11:34

oh it would be brilliant, dd could have all the care and equipment she would ever need. Riven could have her trike and well the list goes on

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 08/05/2009 11:35

Oh and I'd buy my favourite apartment, no sod it, I'd buy the whole place, on top of the hill in Perranporth, Cornwall.

LadyOfWaffle · 08/05/2009 11:35

oh yes, personal trainer , beautician, stylist & tutor. Hire Stephen Fry as a 'dinner date'.

hereidrawtheline · 08/05/2009 11:36

oh yes I would also like to do a lovely house (or more!) and let someone live in it for nothing. Its hard being at the income level we are at, you have just enough to get by but not very well, you are always worrying and adding figures up, but you earn just too much for benefits. Its a really stressful place to be and there isnt any help for you.

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 08/05/2009 11:36

Is this a new topic? Unobservant? Me?

TrillianAstra · 08/05/2009 11:36

I think I need to buy a ticket now...
