Colleen Rooney, due in October, plans CS in September to fit in with football season

What do people think? I have no problem with people planing CSs, but this (assuming she's planning it for 2 or 3 weeks in advance of her due date) seems a bit of a superficial reason. I know babies are OK to come at 37 weeks if they're ready but surely this way there's a high risk of delivering a 'not ready' baby. Aren't CSs usually scheduled for about 39weeks? What do people think about this?

Totally wrong IMO, baby should be given more time inside, after all there is no real need, it's not as if she's got to go onto the pitch

I thought they were usually around 38 weeks due to the risk of going into labour, and an elective becoming an emergency. So 2 weeks would be quite normal, I think.

GypsyMoth · 16/04/2009 17:20

I wouldn't expect anything less of her!! Jumped up little madam!

right so if 2 weeks is normal then maybe this isn't so bad. I don't actually know what the gap is (can anyone tell me?) but I'm assuming it's more than a week to be newsworthy!

I don't care as long as I don't have to pay for it.

Habbibu · 16/04/2009 17:22

"Jumped up"? What's that mean?

StealthPolarBear · 16/04/2009 17:23

oh yes, the report ended with "...and she will be sending her good friend, smallorange, the bill"

The cow! And she made me pay for her latest pair of Ugg boots too....

paolosgirl · 16/04/2009 17:28

So it's YOU who's responsible for those awful boots being seen on every wannabe WAG - SHAME on you

Marthasmama · 16/04/2009 17:31

I had an elective c-section and they try to get you in as close to 39 weeks as possible. At 37 weeks the baby would still have a pretty high chance of having breathing difficulties. There are still risks at 39 weeks but they are much lower. This is my understanding. It might be bollocks.....

giantkatestacks · 16/04/2009 17:34

but dont celebs have them earlier to reduce that last two weeks of maternal weight gain/puffiness?

traceybath · 16/04/2009 17:35

Her choice, her money and her birth.

She may well be booked in for 39 weeks - who really knows besides her?

However did used to be lots of scurrilous rumours that most celebs booked in for electives at 36 weeks to stop that irritating last bit of weight gain!! And then have boob job and tummy tuck done at the same time - all untrue i'm sure.

southeastastra · 16/04/2009 17:36

oh blimey she's pg so now we'll have pages and pages of it in ok magazine.

sassy · 16/04/2009 17:43

I say - judge away. Babies should come when ready not when the mother feels it is convenient!

Want to bet she doesn't breast feed?

MuffinBaker · 16/04/2009 20:04

For all we know there might be a medical reason that is already there so she knows she needs a section but doesn't want it public knowledge.

MaureenMLove · 16/04/2009 20:05

Just a small thing, but the Premiership usually starts in August now, so probably a load of tosh anyway!

I bet she's hoping for a boy in case he looks like his dad...

expatinscotland · 16/04/2009 20:09

She said she wants to have a huge family. She'd better think again.

Silly.

She's at the age where the body is made to best give birth.

She has plenty of family around to be her birth partner, too.

she said she had no problem conceiving, so why didn't she 'schedule' it better that way?
