OK mag: Jade "memorial issue" complete with year of death on front cover......how tasteless is this??

I mean, in the context of producing a memorial issue before the poor woman has even passed away? Seems like a pathetic attempt to continue to be "first with the news".

I have been through the experience of watching and waiting for death of a loved one from cancer. It can be a protracted and painfully long process - even when the doctors do say there are only "days left" it can turn out to be longer.

Who do they think they are appealing to with this awful "scoop"??

I saw that in the newsagents yesterday and thought it was tasteless and ghoulish. I hope lots of other people think this and no one buys it. However, I fear that this will not be the case.

lauren61 · 18/03/2009 12:59

All the jade news is too much now, i think its amazing that a lot of younger girls are going for smears and imo its good that jade has spoken out about her experience.. but to put the year of death in the mag is a bit harsh and to call it a memorial, i completely agree with OP.

fair play to jade for staying strong and getting an imporatant message out but i dont want to hear about it anymore i think she should be left alone now

smallorange · 18/03/2009 13:08

Was going to write something inappropriate there but instead I'll just say that it's not surprising; Jade's death is a commodity to them.

pud1 · 18/03/2009 13:12

i saw the advert on tv this morning. it is vile.
i feel the whole coverage has been awful and i have to put some of that blame on jades door

JeanPoole · 18/03/2009 13:14

maybe jade wanted to read it.

lauren61 · 18/03/2009 13:23

jades made her life outta the press though, she's admitted she loves all the attention, whether its her decision to carry on publicisin now or not i dont think its right at this point

Buda · 18/03/2009 13:25

I thing it is disgusting and wholly inappropriate. I used to buy OK magazine occasionally but will not be doing so now.

"Jade's death is a commodity to them"

and to her. i hate all this "She should be left alone" talk, as though all this is going on against her will. she is actively seeking press attention and whipping up this media storm. i don't buy into the party line of "it's all for my boys", she's acted this way throughout her life with no mention of it being for anyone else but herself, if you hear horses don't turn around looking for a zebra.

pud1 · 18/03/2009 13:31

mayorquimby - just what i think but dont have the guts to say it

even max clifford has said that although the main reason for her allowing the press os much access is the money for the kids, another part of it is that jade still enjoys the press attention. he was on a radio phone in this morning and aparently this ok thing has not been endorsed by him or jade, they obviously thought she would be dead by the time it went to print and wanted to beat hello to the scoop - nice!

pud1 · 18/03/2009 13:35

she has been whipping up a storm through out the entire illness. did she think that the press would stop as she gets wirse

knightsofcovonia · 18/03/2009 13:35

You're a loon if you think she is still masterminding this media output whilst drugged up on her deathbed. There are far more people with a hand in this than Jade fgs.

knightsofcovonia · 18/03/2009 13:37

Makes it sound like she has control over what the papers and magazines print - er no, that'll be the editors...

JeanPoole · 18/03/2009 13:37

magazines are one things people chose to buy them, to suplly and demaand really
but

what is odd is when it's on the news.

you see a thing about jade and you think, oh shes passed away, but then they say oh shes only got a few days left to live.
even though this was already on the news for the last week.
not really sure why the news is covering sleb stuff.

personally i do feel jade want this attenttion and thats fine and totally her choice.

SoupDragon · 18/03/2009 13:38

Whatever you think of the media frenzy, you can not possibly say that putting out a memorial issue with year of death before she dies is anything other than reprehensible.

Sexonlegs · 18/03/2009 13:38

I saw the TV ad this morning and wondered if I had missed Jade's death tbh.

Unbelievable.

pud1 · 18/03/2009 13:39

i know she has np control over what they print but if you court the press like she has been doing then what do you expect. people know what the press are like so why beso shocked that they have not stopped printing headlines about her

i agree that a memorial issue is sick.

solidgoldbrass · 18/03/2009 13:40

It will be, erm hilarious interesting if she goes into spontaneous remission and doesn't actually die, won't it?

knightsofcovonia · 18/03/2009 13:41

Not shocked tbh, I wouldn't put anything past the gutter press. Still I'm sure she doesn't give a shit now.

compo · 18/03/2009 13:41

not very likely is it though?

knightsofcovonia · 18/03/2009 13:41

That would be interesting sgb...
