But wouldn't that depend on what your DH thought about it?

I don't get why for some, this is a feminist issue?

It's just a matter of personal choice surely.

My dh trims his pubes and armpits with the clippers regularly. And for me, an almost bald ladygarden is preferable and feels cleaner and sexier.

My dh finds a full bush very unattractive and so do I.

petrovia · 19/01/2009 13:39

Reality is that to me? I'm anti it because it hurts!!! Or is very uncomfgortabnle! (sorry ds typing too but you get the gist!)

And I'm really, really anti the attitude expressed at the start of this thread...'boak' and ewww' and nasty bitchy comments like that make me wonder what other people have against, erm, hair.

I think YOU can give a shit, if you want, but I hate threads like this, where women bash other women because they don't shave their pubes, armpits whatever.

You do what you want and leave others be.

nailpolish · 19/01/2009 13:40

" can undrerstand wanting to use make up etc ( I don't though) but you're nethers are hardly on display to the general publc, unless you're mental of course.

So there is no point in shaving them".

i was referring to the above quote

its like saying "oh i make myself look nice in front of the general public but in private at home i dont give a shit"

not just with regard to pubes

petrovia · 19/01/2009 13:41

Elsie I agree it is about eprsonal choice. My comment about shaving being poncy was tongue in cheek/silly.

But I think it's fair to say there's much social pressure on women not to have any visible body hair.

elsiepiddock · 19/01/2009 13:42

Sprogger, £48 bloomin' quid plus tip for full leg and brazilian.

nailpolish · 19/01/2009 13:43

it is a bit mingin to have spiders legs poking out of your bikini bottom, you have to agree on that surely

kittywise · 19/01/2009 13:43

nailpolish, I think you and anyone else should do what they want that makes them feel better, more attractive etc etc.
If it makes then feel more confident to wear make up, wear it, high heals? Wear them. hate pubic hate? Then shave it

But it's so nasty to then criticise another woman because she doesn't do what you do.

petrovia · 19/01/2009 13:43

I did shave mine one time, I will never forget the itching afterwards for what seemed like weeks (and actually probably was)

I can't figure out how anyone can maintain that feeling on a regular/constant basis in order to be almost bald or whatever. How do you deal with it? It drove me mad!

LadyLiffey · 19/01/2009 13:45

I'm shocked she did 'the money' shot, but fair play to her for challenging the idea that women should be as bald as possible down there. Personal choice of course, but the societal norm, as we perceive it to be, is pressure which affects decision.

nailpolish · 19/01/2009 13:47

i dont critisise anyone for what they do! if i have could you please poin it out

piratecat · 19/01/2009 13:47

@20.50 last night

'She looks like she is giving birth to Rolf Harris'

i know i am late to this thread but that's the funniest thing i've read in a long time!!!

kittywise · 19/01/2009 13:49

Sorry, I misunderstood you then NP

nailpolish · 19/01/2009 13:51

sorry if you thought i was being critical

i really dont give a shit what other people do and i dont judge them on it

thats the truth

I wish I could reach to tidy mine up! Being 31 weeks pregnant makes tidying up down there impossible! If I could afford a wax I would. I still don't get why it's so shocking Apart from showing the world your bits of course!
She looks pretty normal to me - a human grown-up It's what happens after puberty

nailpolish · 19/01/2009 13:55

i got dh to trim my bush before childbirth
and paint my toenails

goodness knows why

FruitynNutty · 19/01/2009 13:58

I'm going to be booking in for a good wax before I give birth. Saving my pennies right now! Just wish I could do it all the time as I do like it to be tidy. Shaving just irritates and Immac is pointless and causes ingrown hairs.

Remotew · 19/01/2009 13:59

Even in 1979 I used to do my bikini line, remove underarm and leg hair. It looks like Madonna deliberatley posed with all her body hair in tact.

Her face also look hairy e.g. side burns.

I feel for young girls nowadays. My DD already has her legs waxed at the salon. I will leave it up to her how much else she removes when she is older. She has mentioned that she feels like a freak

petrovia · 19/01/2009 14:01

I never even knew most women do this until a few years ago when some dickhead boyfriend decided I needed educating.

FruitynNutty · 19/01/2009 14:04

1979! Wow abouteve I was born in that year btw, I know how your DD feels, I've felt like it ever since puberty DP always on at me to tidy up but it's so expensive to get waxed and hard to find someone to do a decent job.
