thats a shame

did you go to the beach in the snow?

i love going on the beach when it snows don't know why, it just looks quite beautiful really

Tn0g · 03/02/2009 15:50

Hello!

Yes, all melted away pretty much and it was thick last night, but then the rain came and now we're just left with bits of slush.

Sparkles, we did go down to the beach yesterday and you're right it is beautiful in the snow, almost surreal.

The sky was wonderful yesterday too, a very pale magenta colour.

Fantastic.

How are you both?

S, how's Poppy and the rest of the gang?

mummylin2495 · 03/02/2009 15:53

How are you?

Tn0g · 03/02/2009 15:58

It's about five or so years since we had proper snow along the SE coast but yes, other parts probably do get snow more regularly.

mummylin2495 · 03/02/2009 16:00

M, it's been a bad old start to the new year alright.

You mentioning the candle has reminded me that a couple of weeks ago a woman I know in the nearby town lost her husband suddenly after 50 odd years together.

Dh and I went to the house to pay our redpects and walked into a real old fashioned wake.

The husband was laid out in the coffin in the middle of the kitchen with maybe 20 - 30 people various ages all chatting and some singing.

I haven't been to a proper wake in years and it was lovely..if you know what I mean..

The wife had placed a little posy of flowers from the garden in his hands and there was a candle lit in the window.

Sparkles, I'd have loved to have seen that prog.

Patrick Moore was fantastic.

I'd love a monocle

sparklesandwine · 03/02/2009 16:11

yes M i have, you think the poor girl had never been fed

poppy is doing really well tnog, thanks for asking

Tn0g · 03/02/2009 16:11

God knows M

I logged on one day and the box had disamapeared

Tried figuring where the bloody thing had gone and just got really vexed

Tn0g · 03/02/2009 16:12

Are you still breast feeding, S?

mummylin2495 · 03/02/2009 16:13

That does sound lovely tnog ,how sad after all those years together,it must be like losing the other half of you,i have only known one family that has had the deceased at home and that and i helped them out with the food for the wake but when i took it over to their house i didnt expect the coffin to be there ! i was quite shocked and then when the husband died they did the same for him ,luckily i am not afraid of the dead. Its the living you have to watch out for !

OP posts:
sparklesandwine · 03/02/2009 16:14

i've never been to a wake

i've never seen a dead person, not sure i could especially if it was someone close
