how long before he appeals , vile men like him will never believe it was in any way their fault

Oversexed freak. To think that our culture celebrated or encouraged his disgusting antics too, by giving him the title 'shagger of the year' and that kind of thing. The 2000s is a decade that continues to age extremely poorly.

LB’s Dad? Like she’s some vulnerable adult that needs caring for by the family patriarch? Ffs. She might be an autonomous woman who has been making choices? She may decide to stand by him?

Why is a narrative taking root that she’s some sort of victim and doesn’t have agency?

Yes her very wealthy Dad.

I would say she has very much presented as a vulnerable adult yes. She testified that she could not cope with RB's behaviours and inability to be faithful. She was aware of his "tendencies" of we are being polite. she laughed at other victims court appearances in the gruesome Sunday Service videos, along with her husband, who clearly dictates when she can and what she speaks of.

None of thiss came across as "autonomous" thinking or judgement to me, it came across ass frail, vulnerable and utterly sucked in by some fake Cultish /faux religious rebirth.
She now has three children to consider whose father, just convicted and broadcast globally as a violent rapist, leaves her to parent and unravel them alone.
I would say in such horrific circumstances, any family and friends will do all they can to support and protect her and her children, FFS, they might care about the welfare of their grandchildren and their daughter who is about to fall to pieces, likely subject to social services intervention.

I'm feeling quite emotional. As someone who has been through trauma similar and am still struggling over 30 years later - zero self esteem, poor self worth, anxiety about everything, depression, and never being financially stable due to all of it, it properly pissed me off when he said the channel 4 documentary had had a devastating impact on his life.

He'll be threatening to top himself next.. that and or 'mental health issues' a la Huw fuck face and others

I'm only sorry two of the women haven't had their rapes acknowledged by the court. Predatory shite.

Yes that was my immediate thought 😭
I'm sure they are thrilled that he's been found guilty and will serve a prison sentence, but if it were me I'd be devastated that he hadn't been found guilty of MY rape😥

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · Today 15:50

Just waiting for Bear Grylls to comment after he said baptising him was a privilege ........still waiting.....

Silvercoconut · Today 15:52

Realistically, what could the sentence be?

mumsntt · Today 15:54

vile human being

he thought ‘finding religion’ would excuse his behaviour and keep him out of jail

How many more times are the BBC going to condone - if not encourage - this kind of behaviour, with no consequences? It's a tragedy for all concerned.
I always keep an open mind however, and find it odd that people take 15 or 20 years to come forward when the police usually do listen to these allegations, even if they can't get the CPS to agree to a prosecution (as in my case). Rape is almost a crime without punishment.
I remain baffled as to why they didn't deal with Hugh Edwards properly, he should definitely be in prison.

What does this case have to do with the BBC?

allthingsinmoderation · Today 15:56

I am surprised why some charges were not guilty and some guilty i couldnt see a difference that would account for that.
Also surprised unanimous verdicts were reached.

Yep, imagining being one his victims and see him being awarded "Shagger of the Year" by a national newspaper. Fuck's sake.

And to the poster who said earlier (didn't pay attention to who it was) "Maybe they consented at the time and felt degraded afterwards" Seriously?!? Do you think they decided that that best way to get over that feeling of degradation was to have to relive it decades later in front of a load of strangers and be cross examined by Ian Winter telling them that they couldn't have been raped because rapists don't give out their phone numbers or emails? Fucking hell. I honestly despair.

Good. Have detested him and his friend Jonathon Ross for a long time. I remember that hideous 'prank' call to Andrew Sachs.

Why are you waiting? What for? Strange comment.

EasternStandard · Today 16:02

Just saw a small police clip of Brand being questioned, only one question which he didn’t answer. Looked depressing and awful for the victims.

Look on the bright side, some exciting prison bum sex will be on the cards

Yeah that was vile. Totally put me off Ross, I was never on Brand.

I recall watching him on a US chat show way before this came out thinking he was basically sexually harassing the female guest and everyone was laughing along but the whole thing felt very uncomfortable.

And I remember him telling a story on another chat show about how he was obsessed with a very beautiful woman and wanted her so much. And the host asked “and how did it resolve?” he replied “I fucked her and then I got over it“.

What a day for British justice. Digwa's minimum term has been increased to 25 years.

Huw Edwards has a long history of severe depression.
You should not put severe MH issues in quotes to minimise them. That will not help those who have diagnosed depression (or other MH issues).
It goes w/o saying that I am not 'siding' with HE, but his mental health issues are not to be dismissed because of his behaviour.

God...that's clumsy...am I explaining what I mean?

Very pleased and reassured he has been denied bail. Well done to the prosecution and the judge. I am so sad for the women whose testimonies were not upheld, but hope they feel they have seen some justice at least.

RB's barrister should hang hiss head in shame, some of the questioning was abhorrent and has no place in a 2026 courtroom.

Have been reading of other pending allegations overseas and in the UK, the fact RB tried and failed to delay these being heard is very telling and I guess fuel for the judge's decision to deny bail.

I hope LB's Dad has already made contact with the top divorce lawyers and counsellors to ensure she and his grandchildren never have to see this animal ever again.

Why her Dad? Could her mother not do this or her sister? Does it need to be a man to save her?

I was trying to find a way to say this - glad someone did

I can imagine some men will dish up to him what he has been dishing up to women
