Good grief.
how do they find the energy to be so perpetually outraged at stuff that hadn’t happened and has been ruled out.

Nobody has ended slavery

It’s still going on in many places.

Is that what you mean?

I would say it is pretty clear that is what pp meant!

They’re always outraged by what the Labour government does. By definition it has to be bad.

Yes, and if a right wing government does the exact same thing, it is by definition good.

Clearly.

Definitely, it means we will need many more apologies and reparations from the many entities which have benefited from it.

DuncinToffee · Yesterday 13:23

Apologies can be issued without reparations.

I wonder if this kerfuffle is a reaction to the fact that the budget has not hurt Labour's polling one iota.

Westminster Voting Intention:

LAB: 30% (=)
RFM: 22% (=)
CON: 20% (=)
LDM: 10% (+1)
GRN: 8% (-2)
SNP: 3% (=)

Or to disttract that Badenoch has no ideas beyond cutting welfare

Well that is up to those other entities. The UK can only decide its own position.

Given that she desperately shoehorns it into everything, that is a fair assumption.

She also wants to cut tax and increase defence spending to which will help the economy alongside benefit cuts.

Notonthestairs · Yesterday 13:29

I think its just designed to get certain sections frothing.

The King is more than equipped to deal with this - as I understand it his speech hasn't needed any changes and he has excellent advisors. He'll just get on with his job as per.

Notonthestairs · Yesterday 13:30

What would really boost the economy is the single market but God forbid the right wingers acknowledge that.

Global warfare.

Any explanation why she couldn't do that when in government?

Same reason Healy couldn’t get his defence spending increased?

Cutting benefits won't help the economy. Poorer people will have less to put back into it. Has Badenoch found a magic money tree that she is keeping quiet about?

She need to get her sums right first and correct the right way.

Yes, it’s called a growing economy.

Notonthestairs · Yesterday 13:43

Because austerity worked out so well last time…

Notonthestairs · Yesterday 13:45

If you want growth then reversing some of the impacts of Brexit would be an excellent place to start.

TemperanceWest · Yesterday 13:45

Redapplegreenbanana · Yesterday 13:41

Well she has to grow it before she can promise tax cuts etc. Sadly for Badenoch it seems very unlikely she will ever get to do so. Making promises is easy when you know you'll never have to follow through on them.

Yes that's what I mean. Estimates are about a 100,000 in the UK and 50 million worldwide.
