https://democracyforsale.substack.com/p/revealed-more-than-30-senior-tories

More than 30 senior Conservatives are named in newly released records of companies referred to the government’s controversial Covid PPE ‘VIP lane’ back in 2020, following a five-year fight by Democracy for Sale to force the government to divulge the information.

The documents identify hundreds of businesses – and the politicians, ministers, senior civil servants and other figures who recommended them for the ‘VIP lane’ to lucrative government Covid contracts.

Among those named are eight members of Boris Johnson’s cabinet, Sarah Ferguson and the banking giant Santander.

Four of those cabinet ministers in the documents had not previously been named: then foreign secretary Dominic Raab, justice secretary Robert Buckland, Welsh secretary Simon Hart, and housing secretary Robert Jenrick, who is listed only as a ‘possible’ referrer.

It certainly puts into perspective the current craze of Badenoch to cut welfare to fund defence.

Nothing harder to undo either.

If you like cold revenge, you can offset it against that cunt Boris Johnson lying to the Queen and forcing here to break the law. Goose and gander spring to mind.

Only I can see Charles tacitly approving of his governments actions here.

Agree. There were numerous rumours circulation in 2020 about the Royal Family's distaste for Johnson.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

They are probably considering a VIP lane for work houses

The correct word for Mr Johnson is traitor. He should have been charged with treason along with Jacob Rees-Mogg who went to Balmoral to get approval of the unlawful act.

Agree. It may also explain the opposition to asylum seekers being houses in empty Army barracks.

Better to have the feckless poor enclaved.

"Labour are already spending too much on Britain's welfare state, now is not the time for Andy Burnham to be providing global welfare" says Badenoch.

She just can't help herself, can she? It is possible, surely, to set out the argument against an apology without this sort of spite?

Not for Badenoch. Half an excuse and she’s all over it.

DuncinToffee · Yesterday 12:08

She has the support of Elon Musk on this 😬

It's all about not dwelling on the past and moving forward.

So the post office scandal - move along now nothing to see here.

Hillsborough, Aberfan and Grenfell as well.

Willowkins · Yesterday 12:09

Let's not forget the money the Conservative government sent to Rwanda for very little return. If that wasn't global welfare then it must have been ... incompetence?

DuncinToffee · Yesterday 12:10

Ah but according to Braverman, we should celebrate that the UK ended slavery.

So don't look back unless...

Don't look back unless a Labour Government messed it up.

DuncinToffee · Yesterday 12:12

That as well

TemperanceWest · Yesterday 12:13

I wonder if Badenoch considers the money paid to slave owners "welfare"?

Willowkins · Yesterday 12:13

Nobody has ended slavery

There is a way to kneecap them all. A very simple YES/NO referendum on whether people want to pay tax. If NO wins everyone can fend for themselves. If it's YES, then the Tories can shut up about cutting it because of the will of the people.

It would only be the second most stupid referendum the UK will have held too.

DuncinToffee · Yesterday 12:18

Willowkins · Yesterday 12:13

Nobody has ended slavery

According to Braverman

"Let’s also not forget the role Britain played in ending slavery- often overlooked in our schools, museums and by the BBC"

Confused

She doesn’t know another way to do politics, basically. And it isn’t ‘global welfare’, Burnham has ruled out reparations!

Notonthestairs · Yesterday 12:32

Burnham has ruled out reparations.

So what on earth is the gibberish about ‘global welfare’?

Burnham has ruled out reparations.

So what on earth is the gibberish about ‘global welfare’?

Step 1) get an apology
Step 2) use the apology as justification of obligation to pay reparations

Notonthestairs · Yesterday 12:53

TemperanceWest · Yesterday 12:40

God knows.

So it’s basically hysteria generating stuff.

As per usual.

DuncinToffee · Yesterday 12:57

Yes.

The Dutch government apologised in 2022, the king in 2023, no direct reparations have been paid.
