Didn’t Donny truly endorse crapto? And now it’s all sat in North Korea. You couldn’t make it up.

TokyoSushi · 30/10/2026 19:34

My goodness, I’ve just belatedly seen that clip of him with the journalist yesterday, how they don’t just all tell him to fck off I don’t know.

TokyoSushi · 30/10/2026 19:38

And also now that clip of the guy saying their plan for Iran is insane (I’m assuming you all know what I’m talking about as it’s happened yesterday/earlier today) it seems like next week is going to be quite the week. Nightmare.

As a lapsed Catholic, am loving Pope Leo XIV absentee voting under his baptismal name in Chicago. I see speculation that despite the RC church's stance on abortion, it is likely that the Pope may have voted for the Democrats.

From Occupy Democrats:

BREAKING: Pete Hegseth PUNISHES the poor sailor who jumped off a US Navy ship - AND his family - in a heartless show of cruelty and spite!

Nicholas McKelvey was just 19 years old when he reached the end of his rope aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.

He had spent 255 grueling days at sea, working 12-hour shifts in punishing heat, often without enough food, while his wife struggled to raise their children back home.

He had missed the birth of his baby daughter. His mother-in-law was in treatment for cancer. And when he sought help for his deteriorating mental health, he says the Navy directed him to a chaplain instead of a mental health professional.

Then, one August morning, McKelvey ran across the flight deck and plunged 67 feet into the Arabian Sea.

A helicopter crew rescued him. But instead of treating his desperate act as a mental health emergency, the Navy accused him of FAKING his crisis to escape deployment.

And on Thursday, the Navy moved to discharge him under conditions that will cost him his G.I. Bill education benefits – the very benefits he and his wife had been counting on to build a better life for their children.

“They'd rather blame the victim,” his wife, Samantha Larry, told The NYT.

McKelvey and Larry have been together since middle school. They became parents as teenagers, dropped out of high school and married last year. He joined the Navy in 2024 in hopes of giving his family some sort of stable future.

What he found instead was life aboard an aircraft carrier whose deployment stretched to a near-record 322 days as the war with Iran dragged on. Food supplies dwindled. Contact with home became difficult. McKelvey told his wife he wasn't sure he could finish the deployment.

“I didn't want to be there anymore,” he told the Times. “If I was going to die because of it, then that's just how it is.”

McKelvey was not alone in his existential angst. According to the Navy's own report to Congress, there were EIGHT suicide attempts among sailors in the Lincoln strike group during the deployment.

The Navy maintains that McKelvey deliberately jumped overboard to get out of his duties. Its records note that he wore a flotation vest and jumped when the sea was relatively calm. But one officer acknowledged in a report that the deployment had been so difficult it was “unsurprising that we might have a jumper.”

Now McKelvey and his wife are preparing to return to Florida with their 3-year-old son and 8-month-old daughter. They're staying with relatives and in temporary rental housing while they figure out how to support their family.

“We're going to have to pull out student loans,” Larry said. “It is essentially setting us up for just putting us in debt.”

The Navy kept these sailors at sea for nearly 11 months, sent them into a war zone, worked them through punishing conditions and watched their mental health deteriorate. Eight suicide attempts in a single strike group should have set off every alarm in the Pentagon.

Even if every day of that deployment was militarily necessary, the sacrifices these sailors made deserve recognition, compassion and care.

Instead, when one 19-year-old father finally broke, the Navy accused him of faking it and took away the college benefits he had earned his family's hopes on.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth loves to preach his “warrior ethos,” but what kind of warrior culture treats a sailor's psychological collapse as a disciplinary problem rather than a human emergency?

McKelvey gave the Navy everything he had until he had nothing left to give. Now the institution he served is sending him home to his wife and two small children with fewer opportunities than he had when he enlisted.

If this is how America repays the sacrifices of its young service members, the Pentagon has a great deal more to worry about than its recruiting numbers.

And then there's the CoreCivic crap - $75 million was the asking price for the empty Appleton prison in 2025. A year later, ICE paid $495.6 million to CC for the same building. That's a $420 million gap.

TLDR: CC contributed 500K to the inauguration, got this deal and continues to operate the facility under an ICE management contract (expected ~$75 million in annual revenue once fully operational).Bonus points if you figured out Trump invested in CC in Feb 2025.

Acyn (@Acyn) on X

Q: If the administration has declared war on waste and fraud, can you explain the $420 million overpayment for a prison in Appleton, Minnesota, when the company offered it to the state of Minnesota for $75 million? BESSENT: That question is a waste of...

Bryan Adams has released a new album called "How's it Goin'" with an anti-dump song "Lake Ontario".

From glacial erosion to indigenous care
From European exploration to industrial glare
The 'lake of shining waters' is what the Iroquois called her
It’s a First Nation's name not an executive order

But things weren’t going his way in Iran
So like a baby tossing the toys from the pram

He may have thought it best to throw a low blow
And create a real dog and pony show
But it feels like another distraction
While the Epstein files are gaining traction
One day they’ll come out and we’ll say "there you go"
And then wе’ll all dive into Lake Ontario

After cеnturies of trade and war
People settled down on the banks and shores
All rivalries and conflicts had all but ceased
But it just took one dude to break that peace

But things weren’t going his way in Iran
So like a baby tossing the toys from the pram

He may have thought it best to throw a low blow
And create a real dog and pony show
But it feels like another distraction
While the Epstein files are gaining traction
One day they’ll come out and we’ll say "there you go"
And then we’ll all dive into Lake Ontario

Away from the headlines. I find all his EOs and proclamations fascinating. This for example.

ADJUSTING IMPORTS OF ROBOTICS, INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY, AND THEIR PARTS AND COMPONENTS INTO THE UNITED STATES – The White House

Industrial robots. I know about them. Here he is basically saying national security, defense industry, cyber attacks etc.... so he has to put tariffs on blah blah. And I was thinking....

IS THIS CAPITALISM, INTERFERERING WITH THE FREE MARKET ECONOMY?

And yes. I suppose it is. Peak capitalism. Because Trump is corrupt as fuck. So just bribe him to cut the competition out. But in this case, this is an excellent example of corruption being massively damaging to the greater economy.

Because look at this line here.

"7. The Secretary found that the domestic industry does not produce enough robotics, industrial machinery, and their components to meet national security needs, and that the need for domestically produced robotics, industrial machinery, and their components will only increase."

Yup. The US does not actually make a lot of industrial robotics. That would be the Japanese, the Germans, Taiwan.. and the other China.. among others. The USA is not a big player at all. ( Note, in innovation yes, but that is niche)

So Trump is putting automation costs up. And that will impact lots of things. And here is a weird thing about US industry, and making things such as robotics. A massive amount of US industry is still imperial while the rest of the world is metric. And when I say they are imperial, I am talking about the base machine tools. The manual lathes, milling machines etc. All the graduations are imperial. So we get an odd mix match of units used on Engineering kit the US makes. So nobody outside the US really buys it. Except for the patented stuff that is.

The same goes for Engineering standards. The rest of the world use ISO standards, or German DIN. Also, a lot of old BS standards that are adopted as ISO (For info REFORM voters) etc. It's a mixed system, but it works, and the world uses them. Apart from the USA, who use their own.

Basically, if someone in Britain buys a Japanese, German, Chinese etc industrial robot arm, they know what they are getting. Because it is all done to ISO standards, or DIN. The same as the UK use. But buy American, and fuck know what you will get.

So people outside the USA do not buy it.

And from THE PROCLAMATION, we also get this line.

" In the Secretary’s opinion, it is vital to take action to strengthen, expand, and modernize the domestic manufacturing and industrial base for robotics, industrial machinery, and their components."

Ah. That is socialism is it not? So by my reasoning, his corruption is peak capitalism. And to try to get around the issues that creates, he is having to use socialism.

IMO by the way. The US really messed up by not dumping FREEDOM UNITS.

Also worth a note, Farage want's the UK to go back to imperial. Cos BRITUSH. He can fuck right off with that.

ADJUSTING IMPORTS OF ROBOTICS, INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY, AND THEIR PARTS AND COMPONENTS INTO THE UNITED STATES

Thanks @RedTagAlan, though I’m merely doing a cut and paste job which is far less work than you are doing!

A lot of today’s has already been mentioned, but here we go with HC-R:

October 30, 2026 (Friday)

Not much from me tonight, but I do want to call out the political signs reading “Stop Fraud: Vote Republican” I saw today as I left Maine. They seemed especially audacious in light of today’s news from Ernesto Londoño of the New York Times that last summer the Department of Homeland Security paid more than $495 million for a 1,600-bed prison the state of Minnesota declined to purchase a year ago for the asking price of $75 million—or even “a fraction of that price.”

They also seem to contradict the report yesterday from Wendy Siegelman of NewsTRACS that Trump Media & Technology Group received $350,000 for running ads on Trump’s social media site for this summer’s Freedom 250 events. Freedom 250 was the group Trump backed in place of the congressionally-approved nonpartisan America 250 organization designed to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Trump owns 41% of Trump Media & Technology Group.

Perhaps Republicans are hoping to attract low-engagement voters who don’t pay much attention to politics. According to G. Elliott Morris of Strength in Numbers, those voters preferred Trump to Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris by 13 points in 2024. Now, though, they are not a good bet for the Republicans, Morris notes. He explains that they have swung away from Trump by 15 points and now prefer Democratic congressional candidates by 2 points.

Those voters might not be highly engaged in politics in general, but they cannot miss the country’s rising prices, especially the cost of gasoline and diesel—and the food delivered by vehicles that use them—resulting from Trump’s war on Iran. Bloomberg reported today that almost half of Americans’ spending now goes toward food and housing, the highest percentage in 15 years.

Rising costs contrast painfully with reports from today that those higher prices are sending oil company profits skyrocketing. Steve Kopack of NBC News reported today that oil giant BP’s profits are at an 18-year-high and Chevron’s earnings are up more than 180% from a year earlier.

On the campaign trail in 2024, Trump asked oil executives to donate a billion dollars to his campaign, calling it a “deal” considering how much money they would make from the regulatory cuts and new permits Trump promised. That investment seems to have paid off. At a rally on October 24, Trump commented to attendees, “I wonder if I should say this,” then went on to say that “our country is making hundreds of billions of dollars because of what’s happened in the Middle East.” He continued: “My people said, ‘Please don’t mention that, sir,’ because people are paying a little higher. But what we’ve done for this country, we’re making money like this country has never made before.” He finished: “I don’t give a damn: I’m going to say it. We’re making a freaking fortune.”

But most Americans are not part of that “we,” and they are angry not only at the soaring profits of oil companies while they pay higher prices, but also at the cuts to Medicaid, Affordable Care Act subsidies, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, medical and scientific research, and so on at the same time that the administration is pouring lives and taxpayer money into Trump’s war of choice on Iran.

On Wednesday, Ben Finley and Konstantin Toropin of the Associated Press reported that the Pentagon has provided a new estimate of the cost of the war to the Pentagon: $47.1 billion. That number does not include the damage to U.S. military bases in the Middle East, which Anika Arora Seth, John West, Shelby Holliday, and Lara Seligman of the Wall Street Journal reported today could cost as much as $15 billion. Graphics from that story, by Carl Churchill and Katherine Chui, illustrate the extent of the damage.

On Wednesday, Summer Said, Shelby Holliday, Benoit Faucon, and Anat Peled of the Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. officials have warned Gulf Arab countries to prepare for a renewal of U.S. strikes on Iran as early as November 4.

Trump has been on the road for the midterms, convinced that his rallies will help Republican candidates struggling against surging Democratic opponents. But the rallies have drawn far fewer people than Trump likes, and his wandering monologues about how great the economy is, how he aced a cognitive test, how wonderful his ballroom will be, and how much he admires the anatomy of a certain male Republican candidate, along with his deep unpopularity, have made even allies distance themselves from him.

When Trump cancelled rallies scheduled for this weekend in Kansas and Iowa in favor of webcasts, one top Republican official told Kevin Liptak, Kaitlan Collins, Adam Cancryn, and Alayna Treene of CNN: “Thank God. He hasn’t moved the needle anywhere.” Officials hoped he would stay more focused in what they called “telerallies.”

But, the CNN journalists report, Trump fumed at media coverage of the cancellations and ordered the rallies to be reinstated. So he will be in Kansas and Iowa on Sunday, trying to sell voters on his message.

That may not be an easy sell. An image circulating on Bluesky shows a Maine “Stop Fraud: Vote Republican” sign. Next to it, a handmade blue sign with a big white arrow pointing to it reads: “HILARIOUS.”

BruceAndNosh · 31/10/2026 09:49

I'd like some high profile person to challenge Trump to draw a clock live on camera.

I knew my mother had early stage dementia but it wasn't that obvious to people who didn't know her. Yet I was stunned at how bad her drawn clock was when she completed a dementia test while I sat beside her.

If it is the Miller kids I can't even...
I mean that would be like a member of the UK Govt, a top advisor, dressing his male child in a German military uniform while the actual second World War was happening. Which is so beyond unthinkable it's...unthinkable.
