Do you eat 3 meals a day?

I have NC’d for this as I don’t want it linked to my other posts.
I use to eat 3 meals a day. 3 full meals and all I did was put on weight. Now I eat 2 meals and a snack.
In work today and a colleague asked was I not starving.
today I had for brunch (my first meals is at 10ish) - 2 boiled eggs, 2 rice cakes with chocolate spread and peanut butter. And a coffee.
for a snack at 1ish I had a cup of tea and a banana
dinner at 5:45 was a chicken salad with, lettuce, cucumber, olives, onion, tomato’s dressing and Parmesan cheese. Then I had a cup of tea and 4squares of chocolate.

Comment was made by my colleague at lunch time. I’m never really hungry for lunch tbh. I would have a few snacks but today I just wanted the banana. My calorie intake for today was lower than usual at 1390cals. Usually I aim for 1500.

so what do you do? Do you eat three full meals? I find a lot of people have no breakfast at all.

I eat 3 meals and 2 snacks. I am constantly putting on weight!

Wonderwall23 · 27/10/2026 19:18

I eat 3 meals a day, always have done and never miss a meal. FWIW I'm a little underweight and always have been. I have breakfast around 7.30am, lunch at 12pm (if I've not snacked my way through it before) and dinner soon after 5pm. Then a snack before bed.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 27/10/2026 19:20

I eat three meals a day, plus snacks, if I'm at work. I work on a farm, so I struggle to keep weight on, to be honest!

If I'm off work, I might have three meals a day, or sometimes just two, but I'm never as active as when I am in work.

@3squaremeals I would be starving if I ate like you. I eat 2 meals a day but way more calories.

TheOchreLeader · 27/10/2026 19:23

2 meals a day. I can't be bothered with 3 lots of prep and washing up.

Brunch at 11ish (or straight to lunch) then tea at 6.

I agree! OP in my view you eat no actual meals a day. Those collections of snacks you are calling meals sound so unsatisfying, and almost 'open ended'... there's no logical place to stop so you end up getting very obsessed with counting little bits and limiting the numbers. Might be better psychologically to have a proper plate of food, or a proper e.g. salad sandwich for lunch.

fendti · 27/10/2026 19:26

I sometimes eat 2 meals and sometimes eat 3. I'm up early around 4.30am so I will have breakfast around 6/7am. Then lunch around 1pm and dinner around 5pm. Sometimes will be late for lunch and have something bigger at 2/3pm so won't have a dinner. I'm a normal weight

Letstryandgetitright · 27/10/2026 19:27

I sometimes eat 2 meals a day , sometimes 3.
I always eat a good breakfast. Sometimes I am just not hungry at lunch time so I don't eat lunch. And I will then eat my evening meal quite early - 4 O'clockish.
On the days I have lunch I will eat my evening meal a bit later - 6 O'clockish.
I don't generally eat snacks.
I tend to keep a steady weight. I've not put any on in recent years, I've possibly lost a bit. I dont eat to lose weight , I'm just guided by my appetite.

Of course it’s a meal! A chicken salad is a meal…how is it not a meal? We are all different. I’m still stuffed after dinner tbh

Three meals a day, preferably hot. Averaging 2,000 cals a day.
And just as the science says I've been weight stable for decades.

MiddleAgedDread · 27/10/2026 19:29

I eat 3 meals a day plus snacks. I’m hungry just reading your weird collection of food that isn’t really meals (apart from chicken salad). Are you very small and very inactive?

scoutzx · 27/10/2026 19:29

Two meals, never eat breakfast. I eat a small lunch and then a cooked meal for tea.

Yep I’m 5ft2 and I have an office job so there’s that 🤣

Always 3 meals a day and at least 2 snacks. Never caloric counted, no clue. Stable weight.
I too am 5ft 2 with an office job.

Gosh some of you are so lucky to maintain with 3 meals and snacks!

Yes OK a chicken salad is just about a light meal, although you'd be wanting something hot and a bit more substantial most days over winter wouldn't you? 2 boiled eggs and rice cakes with chocolate spread is both not a meal and fairly depressing.

Do you go to the gym etc?

There you go, I’m 5ft 6, have an office job but exercise most days and regularly average 15,000 steps a day over the week plus weights and swimming.

I mean that was just today…I don’t eat that same thing every day! Yesterday I had yogurt, homemade granola and warmed blueberries and then I had a roast chicken dinner! I had no snack as I wasn’t hungry.

Yeah my steps today were 3200 🤣 I don’t do the gym! Not me at all!

One meal with snacks. Weight is normal.

I do a calorie count day every two to three years.
The only thing I have learnt is to use a spoon to measure oil.

UniquePinkSwan · 27/10/2026 19:37

Once a day for me. I eat a lot of fatty meat so it’s filling

Stardogchampion · 27/10/2026 19:37

At the moment I eat 3 meals one snack (around 3pm), though lunch is smaller to factor in the snack so I guess maybe more like 4 meals which are calorie controlled (1,800 per day). This plus moderate exercise and steps etc is keeping weight fairly stable.

HughManity · 27/10/2026 19:38

1 meal a day. Don't normally snack.
