"Christmas" food

Alright, so who's started eating buying "Christmas" food already?

I'm on my second bag of Lebkuchen 😳

Ive found cheesy footballs today. 😀 they have not survived the day.

BusySittingDown · 16/10/2026 21:31

I inhaled a whole pack of M&S white chocolate gingerbread cookies last weekend. Wtf is in M&S cookies btw? They are like crack! I'm addicted!

My DDs had a Cadbury's Christmas pud tonight each. DD2 had a chocolate Santa the other week. She's 15 btw, not a toddler 😂.

I'm sure I've eaten something else but I can't remember. The Christmas aisle in Tesco is shouting my name every time I'm in there.

Oh, today I walked past a teenage boy carrying an empty advent calendar near Tesco. He'd obviously bought it and scoffed the lot. I wanted to high five him. I like his style.

DilemmaDelilah · 17/10/2026 09:38

I haven't bought any Christmas food yet, but I have bought nearly all the Christmas presents.

If IKEA had had gingerbread blocks when we went last week I would have bought some then, but I don't think they do that any more. I think we're not that bothered about the Christmas food yet because there is only DH and me. We will be joining my daughter's family at a communal lunch for Christine's families at the cathedral on Christmas Day, and I expect I will be asked to provide the coronation chicken they all like, but that's not very Christmassy. I probably won't buy much in the 'special' food line at all.

Mince pies - all the mince pies!! Best thing about late September is seeing the local Co-op start to stock their shortcrust ones.

Nearly bought a panettone yesterday in Tesco - until I saw the basic one was £11 😱. I used to be spoilt by an Italian deli who sold them, and pandoro, all year round including one with a champagne crème swirled through it which never lasted very long!

Do people actually eat these? I thought they were just bought as gifts which are then inevitably regifted until the end of time.

I'll take yours! 😄
I like the basic sultana with candied orange peel one. 😋

foxinasnowstorm · 17/10/2026 09:54

I’ve put off buying anything yet, but as soon as I see the stollen bites I’ll be done 🤣🤣 they are my favourite part of Christmas food.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/10/2026 09:57

Stollen. 🩷🩷🩷

PeasOff · 17/10/2026 10:05

The tubs of 'Christmas' chocolate have already made an appearance at work. I of course indulged!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/10/2026 10:05

Not yet, dh and I are a pair of 🐷🐷 when it comes to anything very moreish, especially mince pies, so I don’t even make any, let alone buy, until 1st December. But then I do it with a glass of mulled wine and carols playing. 🎄🙂

I bought a box of M&S malt balls and have opened them but both me and DH are dieting so will last a while - better value than the small bags so not specifically for Christmas

I was about to mention these and I saw someone already did! M+S do their own brand maltesers but larger balls and in four colours (dark, milk, white and blond chocolate). I don't know why it's in christmassy packaging, I'm going to want them all year round. We're on our third box

Meadowfinch · 17/10/2026 10:09

I'm being ruthless this year. I've bought the bird and some smoked salmon, both safely in the freezer. I refuse to buy anything sweet until December. Interesting to see how long I last 🙂

We eat panettone all through the year - we love them.

Nope have hidden- kids don’t know about them, I stopped myself opening three times now. This is the year I’ll be more ready!!

I salute your forward planning and resistance to temptation 😁

I've started "taste testing" a few things, but have so far walked (shakily) past the bags + tins of Cadbury's Roses chocs.

Tesco have a sweet looking own brand chocolate reindeer (a less heavy alternative to the Lindt version).

Choco Leibniz is available with mint flavour choc for Christmas.
Once they're opened, 4 days will be the max survival time for my pack 😉

I buy them at a reduced price after Christmas and turn them into bread and butter pudding 😁

AxolotlEars · 17/10/2026 10:17

I have bought stollen bites and a lindt bear

Oh I looooove lebkuchen so much but the only places that sell them where I live are Aldi and Lidl 😑 and I wouldn't want anybody I know to see me step foot in there. Does anybody know of any premium seller that I can purchase a couple of bags for me and the fam? I really fancy some this year!

They're a spoof poster. This is their style throughout the site! Xmas Smile

BiddyPopthe2nd · 17/10/2026 11:15

I bought 2 boxes of mince pies a fortnight ago (as I am overseas so bought them on a visit home). I haven’t opened them yet.

I plan to visit Lidl next week…the stollen should be out (and that WILL get opened).

Oh yes, there are delicious proper Italian ones where I am so I buy mini lemon and mini dried fruit and mini chocolate chips ones, to enjoy with tea….yum!

MaeshoweDragon · 17/10/2026 11:26

Ordered some bits to try from Ocado... m&s. stollen slices did not arrive, substituted with M&S iced xmas cake slices which were quite odd... more like a boozy xmas pud in texture dampsogginess with marzipan and icing. Not a favourite, but oddly moreish.

JLMA · 17/10/2026 11:29

Mince pies in our house.

I used to think that then tried one and I liked it. I buy one every year now. I do seem to be the only one who eats it though, but I’m not complaining.

Gourdgirl · 17/10/2026 11:41

I must be the only person who dislikes Xmas food!!!

Autumnalhibernationisthedream · 17/10/2026 13:37

I won’t lie, it’s been hard😉
