Wtaf is wrong with some people? Not just on this thread but on SM too..

I saw part of the video and it looked like this guy didn’t see the imminent danger he was in, he was telling him no like a child. It would not surprise if this poor guy had additional needs and didn’t understand the danger he was so obviously in.

The name calling is disgusting.

Unbelievable...Darwin Award winner?? A young man has lost his life in horrific circumstances. Have some bloody respect.

People could quite as easily pay for the rehabilitation, relocation and protection of these tigers in their natural environment. But they don’t. Far more people operate on the “refund and discount” line of thought. If they don’t get to see them, they aren’t paying, never mind what is in the best interest of the actual animal. And the shareholders. Of course.

I really feel this thread is the wrong place to write sanctimonious posts about YWP's conservation and breeding programme.

If you want to grind your axe, can I suggest you start your own thread.

The reality is that these animals born in captivity will not survive in the wild because they haven't developed the skills, their natural habitat is disappearing and how do you stop the poachers?

What is the alternative? That we let these breeds die out?

YWP have carried out three lion rescues so far - one lot from terrible conditions in Romania and two lots from Ukraine. Should they have just left them there? Project Polar rescues and rehabilitates polar bears from substandard conditions.

You literally have no idea that that is what happened. 🤨

No one’s blaming the tiger.

But to call a man who just lost his life in one of the most horrific ways a moron is vile.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

He willingly climbed into a tiger enclosure! He made that choice.
I feel for the people who witnessed and the people who had to deal with this, staff and emergency services. The aftermath for them will be horrific.

TheyAreLovelyLovelyPeople · 10/10/2026 21:46

A terrible outcome.
So sorry for everyone involved.

Your language is abhorrent and you know it.

SomethingFun · 10/10/2026 21:46

If someone has a capacity of a toddler but the body and strength of an adult man then you can’t take them to animal parks. There are lots of places in ywp you could hurt the animals as they are allowed to roam around and aren’t caged up. It isn’t somewhere you should be taking someone who has no control over their behaviour and who cannot be controlled by others due to their strength and size. As are loads of other places.

The world can’t be made adult-sized toddler-proofed. I don’t understand why this is controversial. This man died because he was somewhere he couldn’t be safe. That isn’t the park’s fault, it could never be a wildlife park and completely risk free for an adult who doesn’t understand risk.

ByAgileBrickGoose · 10/10/2026 21:47

For anyone saying if he has Sen…. He quite clearly does from the video as his signing very bad and bad in either makaton or bsl.

Bunnycat101 · 10/10/2026 21:47

If he bolted from carers, then it’s an absolute tragedy and thank god it wasn’t another crocodile situation involving an unrelated child. He must have been very scared. I agree with a previous poster that there are questions raised about how you keep adults with severe sen safe when resources are increasingly restricted. It’s an awful tragedy for the man and his family but also staff and members of the public who will have seen the aftermath.

Your phrasing is just not appropriate. Whatsoever.

“The low ability people.”

Mossyfox · 10/10/2026 21:48

Tigers are even more dangerous than lions. I wonder how he was able to get into the enclosure. Maybe it's time to stop keeping these animals for viewing by the public.

GreenEyesMillennial · 10/10/2026 21:49

Considering this forum is called mums.net and assuming most of us have children I am absolutely disgusted at the comments. Someone’s
child died today.

What the hell is up with this? How about instead of making nasty comments you need to ‘retract’ later, you just don’t post? How about that? I always wonder what kind of person is behind posts like this.

Horrific people on this thread. Not sure why it’s not been shut down

Would you feel the same way if it had been a child? Who wanted to stroke the cute tiger?

Or a young adult with possibly the same or similar intellectual capacity as a child?

You're assuming the choice was made by an adult with full mental capacity.

Actually you can not exclude them from this type of place either. As a support worker myself there should have been risk assessments done and most likely 2:1 or 1:1 staffing but you simply can not exclude people from doing normal things. We don’t run institutions care should be prison centered.

I do have to wonder at the stupidity of designing and building an enclosure for a predator capable of killing where it is possible for someone mentally unstable to climb into it in the first place

Yes I think that's the issue here. How on earth was he able to get in?

I was quoting the lady who was a local saying the man and his mates were shouting and antagonising the tiger before he jumped in! How is that not moronic? We don’t know if they were high or drunk. It’s not the tigers fault.
