I really hope if/when it comes to the light that this person was mentally impaired, people will feel ashamed for their vile, disgusting comments.

I agree. No one who climbs into a tiger enclosure has full mental capacity.

BirdLandedonmyHead · 10/10/2026 20:55

As the walkway is quite high, the fall could have contributed to the mans injuries, not just the tiger.

As for safety... other parks allow people to drive their own cars through enclosures. Surely a lot more dangerous!

A tiger will roam up to 12 miles a night in the wild. “Several acres” isn’t enough.

So what do you suggest we do then? Release all captive raised tigers into the wild in India, Sumatra, Siberia, China etc ? Tigers who have no idea how to survive in the wild? In some cases their habitat is greatly reduced so there may not be anywhere suitable, in others they'd be at massive risk of being killed by poachers.

Papyrophile · 10/10/2026 20:57

I'm not being unpleasant; I just think this is health and safety on overdrive. We all make small decisions about how to live every few hours of our lives. You, me, they... we all make decisions every few minutes about how to live.

MN is inclined to view choices from the perspective of people with toddlers, who should naturally be forcibly prevented from climbing into tiger enclosures. But we can't eliminate all the risks for everyone.

Please learn to read. I am not blaming the park for this, I'm just stating that if you're gonna cage an predator for humans to gawk at, you should make it pretty impossible to get in there.

It IS pretty impossible just not totally impossible if someone is that determined

Why on earth do people upload this stuff to social media? That poor man is someone’s son, brother, friend. He’s died of his injuries. The whole scenario is heartbreaking.

People would stand by and stop to film a child being stabbed or raped. i swear people like this have zero empathy and are just thinking "oh look i can get x views for this, how wonderfully lucky am I today to see this!"

If it's similar to the Highland Wildlife Park, the drive-through bit won't contain dangerous predators though. The Highland Wildlife Park one has mostly hooved animals - dangerous for all that, they're very large, but obviously not the same level of danger as a tiger.

Dunnocantthinkofone · 10/10/2026 20:58

I take on board that posters who actually know the layout have explained it’s difficult to get in. So for him to do so effectively, it must have taken quite some time, yes?
in which case, why did no one succeed in preventing him?
it’s clearly a tragic accident but hopefully lessons can be learnt for the future

thenightsky · 10/10/2026 20:59

JustAnotherWhinger · 10/10/2026 20:33

You cannot fall into that enclosure.

To get into it someone has to be extremely determined, very good jumping skills, have the sheer luck to pass the high voltage fencing, and survive the high fall. Before the tiger even comes into it.

Huge numbers have been to that park since the tiger enclosures were built. It’s over a decade since I first saw them.

This isn’t a flimsy enclosure in a zoo that hasn’t bothered to be careful.

How the hell did he climb over high voltage fencing? Did no one think the pull him off the barriers at any point? Did everyone stand around watching, not acting?

And those who have the mental capacity of a toddler should not be protected? Assuming that’s what happened of course. None of us know facts as a certainty yet

If someone with an IQ as high as Einstein did this then clearly they should know better and are a complete idiot. But the point people are making is that this man may well have had learning disabilities and low enough IQ that he didn't understand the danger and wasn't able to "know better". If that's the case it's unacceptable and offensive to call him a moron.

Papyrophile · 10/10/2026 21:00

I can sympathise with the family who have lost a loved one, but why the fuck did they not pay closer attention while he was in the park?

Too busy filming it

I imagine by the time they noticed he was beyond their reach. If you were visiting with little kids you couldn’t just abandon them to climb after a random member of the public headed for the tigers.

Very few people want to work as carers, for the same reason you probably don’t. Low pay, high chance of being attacked, not an enjoyable job if you are caring for somebody aggressive and mentally unstable and in particular men.

And the minute something happens it’s always your fault. Folks are already blaming carers when they don’t even know if carers were involved.

Yes, like every job there are neglectful people, but working in care now is soul destroying at times

You’ve no clue what happened at all, but just insist on posting shitty nasty comments every 5 minutes. Why not just get off the internet, go make yourself a nice calming tea and bugger off to bed? You’ve had enough internet for today.

EdithBond · 10/10/2026 21:05

I hope this entire thread will quickly be deleted.

I’m appalled at the insensitivity of many of the comments. According to reports, there’s a family. A grieving family who just lost a loved one, in the most shocking and horrific way. Likely parents, possibly siblings etc.

I sincerely hope the family, or anyone who knew the man, haven’t come across these comments. I’ve no doubt people wouldn’t have the insensitivity or callousness to make these comments directly to them in person at this awful time. So, why publish them online?

If you can’t help having crass and nasty thoughts, then you can at least stop yourself from sharing them for all to see.

sherbetlemonade · 10/10/2026 21:05

The BBC's headline 'Man dies after tiger attack at wildlife park' makes it sound almost as if either the tiger or the park were at fault in some way. The tiger did not escape or initiate some deliberate attack.

It's the park's job to fence the wild animals in; they shouldn't have to also spend huge sums on fencing foolish people out as well. And the tiger - well it just behaved naturally towards live prey, as any large predator would.

'Man dies after entering tiger enclosure' would have been a more appropriate headline, one feels.

Do you have nothing better to do than constantly post offensive and goady posts?

You call him a moron and now you’re blaming his family?

They may not have even been there.

There are no reports on how he got in or who he was with etc.

Instead of jumping to place blame perhaps wait until more details come out.

I totally agree. Irrespective of the mental state of this young man, there is such a huge impact on so many other people. To be discussing refunds, what is wrong with people

This thread is mad

Some of these posters can't be real, the goady shit they are coming out with, or deliberately being malicious

"People would stand by and stop to film a child being stabbed or r-ped. i swear people like this have zero empathy and are just thinking "oh look i can get x views for this, how wonderfully lucky am I today to see this!"

Those extreme and clearly disturbing scenarios fuck all to do with what's happened

Why have you consciously chosen to bring children into this and refer to those sick scenarios specifically?

Have many giant words with yourself in the mirror

SomethingFun · 10/10/2026 21:10

The world can’t be made a giant soft play where no one can hurt themselves. It was a mistake for that man to be taken somewhere where he could endanger himself or others, and sadly he paid the price for that mistake.
