You cannot fall into that enclosure.

To get into it someone has to be extremely determined, very good jumping skills, have the sheer luck to pass the high voltage fencing, and survive the high fall. Before the tiger even comes into it.

Huge numbers have been to that park since the tiger enclosures were built. It’s over a decade since I first saw them.

This isn’t a flimsy enclosure in a zoo that hasn’t bothered to be careful.

Exactly. Far too many know it all posters who have obviously never been to the Park but "know" that is is easy to fall into the enclosure

I do not get makaton at all and I have no idea how PP's can tell he had LD's from that video.

He is quite clearly displaying the Makaton sign for ‘naughty’ or ‘very bad’ towards the tiger (hands in fist position with little fingers raised) appears to be remonstrating for the tiger to stop.

It should be more than careful, it should be impossible for someone to climb and jump into it in the first place. Some zoos have this, a glass enclosure with a roof.

The fencing is more than adequate. If some is absolutely determined to go into an enclosure, for whatever reason, it can almost always be done.

Stop blaming the Park

Moron! Who tries to reason with a tiger? Fully grown, it's seven feet long and weighs 200kg. And it has big sharp carnivore teeth.

Probably someone with learning disabilities.

I think calling him a moron is really unkind. This just isn’t something a ‘normal’ person would do, it’s clear he was absolutely not in his right mind in some way.

thedogisfine · 10/10/2026 20:40

It’s not as if there’s only one small fencing between humans and big cats at zoos. There’s usually huge fencing and spacing inbetween each.

as for the poster who said ‘what if the tiger develops a taste for humans’ - are you actually ok?!

You can't have the tigers basically locked indoors though. Plus they live on several acres.

SomethingFun · 10/10/2026 20:41

Places like ywp shouldn’t have to build everything to the standard that a very determined adult man with no sense of risk or danger cannot possibly get in. They might as well pack up now. Same as any place with any animals, any heights, any heavy machinery, any open water, any food someone might be allergic to etc etc. if someone can’t be on their own for a second because they are a danger to themselves or others then you can’t take them to places like this.

Oh God, that’s awful. I really feel for parents
whose kids have similar disabilities. I really think the time has come for a root and branch overhaul of how we are going to keep so many disabled adults safe in 20 years.

You can't put a roof on it. There are two tiger enclosures each larger than a full sized football pitch with trees growing inside.

Someone determined enough could also get into the lion enclosure (8 acres) or the polar bear enclosure (10 acres).

People react in various ways after traumatic incidents. The poster mentioning a refund/compensation etc reminds me of a customer (I worked in travel) that I dealt with in the aftermath of 9/11. He was still in the UK when it happened but was due in NY a few weeks later and had reservations for dinner at Windows on The World. Of all the customers I spoke to, helped with new travel plans etc, gave advice to etc, he was the worst. He literally wanted his dinner reservation fee refunded immediately with compensation. I couldn’t do that, he’d made the reservation with WOTW!!! He would not let it go and was very difficult. In the end a Manager had to be really quite short with him.

That’s really sad to know and the posts being harsh below aren’t needed.

I send my condolences to his family who hopefully loved him. But it was a dereliction of care that nobody prevented him jumping into the enclosure with the tiger.

Sadly I do agree.

I think we need to hold society to a higher standard over the safety of disabled people and members of the public they might harm.

I have a horrible feeling of dread thinking about the future as there are so many severely autistic children now and one day they will be adults.

A tiger will roam up to 12 miles a night in the wild. “Several acres” isn’t enough.

People do stupid shit all the time.

Instead of digging yourself a hole, you could instead ask MNQH to delete your ‘FAFO’ comment, stop posting and hide the thread. This is embarrassing.

People willingly choose to get killed in one of the most frightening and painful ways possible all of the time do they?

Agatha1989 · 10/10/2026 20:45

Why on earth do people upload this stuff to social media? That poor man is someone’s son, brother, friend. He’s died of his injuries. The whole scenario is heartbreaking.

Another image of the enclosures - this time from Google earth.

The video I’ve seen looks like he was pointing his finger and telling it to sit. He looked like he was trying to assert authority. It wasn’t clearly sign language.
It has not been officially stated if he had any learning difficulties, carers, or anything else.

Perhaps he saw someone taming a tiger or other wild animal on TikTok and thought he’d impress everyone. We just don’t know the circumstances / what motivated him to do this. Yet so many posters here are acting like they do….

danniT2 · 10/10/2026 20:47

I really hope if/when it comes to the light that this person was mentally impaired, people will feel ashamed for their vile, disgusting comments.

Do you call all mentally disabled people morons? Ffs he clearly wasn’t ‘right’, this wasn’t some typical IQ person doing a stupid stunt for TikTok

Stop blaming the Park

Please learn to read. I am not blaming the park for this, I'm just stating that if you're gonna cage an predator for humans to gawk at, you should make it pretty impossible to get in there.
