This is one of those scenarios that comes under fuck around and find out

Ermm no it’s not.

The man obviously didn’t understand the implications of his actions and it’s such a tragic outcome for all.

Children, adults and park staff will likely have been traumatised (the tiger also distressed) and this man died a horrific death and his family, friends (and potential carers) will have to live with it for the rest of their lives.

There isn't much of their natural habitat left, and they're relentlessly persecuted including of Chinese "medicine".
The wildlife parks are a far nicer environment than traditional zoos, and have important breeding programmes to stop animals like tigers going extinct.

There are a myriad of more suitable rescue locations for a tiger than a wildlife park in Doncaster. Better than a zoo? Maybe. As good for the animal as life in its indigenous habitat, away from the prying eyes of onlookers? No.
The company that owns the Yorkshire Wildlife Park made a profit of £3.6m in the last published accounts. Is that for the benefit of the tiger or the owners I wonder?

You couldn't climb into that enclosure by accident. It's just Darwinism in action.

Ahh yes survival of the fittest = aka those with learning difficulties shouldn’t survive.

Such an insensitive comment.

You are one of life’s grabbers, we get it!

money wasted? It’s the zoo not a trip to new york. You are being stupid

I truly hate this world now where something this tragic happens and within hours footage of such a horrendous incident is being circulated all over the world with people commenting the most vile things about this poor young guy. How must his poor family feel. For anyone who has worked with vulnerable adults you can clearly see his has some issues, most probably autism.

How can people have stood there calmly filming it? I despair of the human race.

This thread should be taken down, it is in such very poor taste.

I was just thinking the same, I hate the world. Dreading when I’m not as able to look after my adult son with autism and profound LD.

Why? Do you think it will evolve and be able to escape its enclosure and go eat people now?

You’ve quoted the wrong person there.

SomethingFun · 10/10/2026 20:07

Maybe if this person had lds then there needs to be a risk assessment done beforehand as to whether they can be expected not to literally fling themselves into a predator enclosure should the opportunity arise. There seems to be more and more of these stories and perhaps adult men with a diminished mental capacity can’t go to places where they can hurt themselves or others. I appreciate that is sad for them but the rest of the world cannot be made safe for a minority of people with adult bodies but no concept of risk or their own or others’ safety.

Having been to ywp you cannot accidentally fall into the tiger enclosure. Why should the animals be caged up like an old fashioned zoo because some humans can’t be trusted? The park is a conservation park and takes animals that are endangered or have been poorly treated at other zoos - it isn’t the animals fault they have to live there and can’t live in their natural habitats and they deserve the best we can do for them.

A grown man didn't understand that going into a tiger enclosure and the consequences? Behave.

FAFO.

I think it’s grim to pretend not to understand , or not care, how horrible some families will be feeling worried about money wasted, not just tickets but getting there. And worried they won’t have the chance again for years.

I can’t think of any other response than telling my children how lucky they are to have their health. That life sometimes involves disappointment and changed plans, but to understand other people’s struggles and have some empathy. I have an autistic child, and I am grateful every second of my life that with support he has a full and happy life. It wasn’t always that way, I remember the dark days of fear, but it has made my other 2 boys non judgmental and very aware of the realities of the human condition.

BatShitCrazyGran65 · 10/10/2026 20:09

The man died of serious injuries but the tiger is still alive. He was pronounced dead at the scene according to the news.

problembottom · 10/10/2026 20:10

We love Yorkshire Wildlife Park, I really feel for the staff and visitors who witnessed it too. I do hope the poor tiger hasn't been harmed as reports are indicating.

I can only imagine the man was mentally disturbed, how horrendous for his family members that there are clips of him being mauled out there. Sadly the clips are already providing bags of entertainment for the worst of humanity.

I saw the video earlier and it didn't look like the tiger really badly attacked the guy so I was surprised to read that he died. I guess the attack must have been escalated from there. I don't know what does through people's minds at times. Even if suicidal there are better ways to go about doing it than being attacked by a tiger. Hopefully he wasn't a social media "creator" doing it for clicks.

This went through my head as well, one of those twattish prank creators.

Newnameeooo · 10/10/2026 20:10

Dunnocantthinkofone · 10/10/2026 18:39

I do have to wonder at the stupidity of designing and building an enclosure for a predator capable of killing where it is possible for someone mentally unstable to climb into it in the first place

I was thinking about this.

Also that I hope that this doesn’t cause problems going forward. Does the tiger have any human contact with keepers? What if it has now developed a taste for humans!!

And if someone can get in, can the tiger get out!

I thought tigers were climbers.

BipolarMama · 10/10/2026 20:10

The man died at the scene and the tigers are just fine. They used gas canisters to frighten it off that sounds like a gun shot

If you are deliberately goading, that’s shameful
if not, you must be incredibly thick not to realise why this likely happened

Are you actually joking?

Yes he’s biologically grown but that doesn’t mean he’s emotionally grown.

He wouldn’t be telling the tiger to stop it if he didn’t have some sort of additional needs FFS 🤦‍♀️

AlwaysRightISwear · 10/10/2026 20:11

A tragic incident

You can't t blame the tiger for doing what tigers do though

I’m going to defend YWP here. The animals there are all rescued from horrific conditions. The lions for example were rescued from a Romanian zoo where they had been living in tiny cages.

I would actually actively encourage people to spend their pennies here so that they can continue their wonderful conservation work.

I complete agree that the comment about a refund was in bad taste.

Agree. Their conservation work is amazing. We go often - its a wonderful place.
