Thinking of all the victims of the 07 October attacks (and their families and friends).

And the Jewish community everywhere.

I’m trying to word this post carefully. I am not minimising or playing down the rise in antisemitism. I understand why Jewish people feel afraid. I am disgusted by the hate marches and protests.

However, there are about 70 million people in the UK and more than 9 million in London, a minuscule number are still attending these hate rallies. I’m not saying a couple of thousand people glorifying terror and celebrating an horrific atrocity is ok but I truly believe there are far more British people opposed to these demonstrations.

Green Party membership is about 0.3% of the population.

It feels bleak. Most politicians are weak and listen to the rabble rousers and loudest voices.

I am lucky enough not to work in the public sector or live near a university campus and the people around me do not hate Jews or Israel. They understand the conflict in the ME is a complex situation. The majority of people I know are more likely to support Israel than shill for Hamas or the IRCG.

I still, hopefully not naively, believe we are in the main a decent, tolerant society.

I have been heartened by the backlash I have seen toward the Green Party both in real life and online. The people around me do not want to see Israel dismantled.

Remember the Labour Party was unelectable under Corbyn.

I know that doesn’t alleviate the fear and the voices calling out antisemitism and hate have been too quiet. As a British person I am sorry and going forward I will be more pro-active calling out the hate and supporting our wonderful Jewish communitie.

And how many are silent?

All it takes for evil to prevail is for good people to remain silent.

Yes Hamas could have left people to dance at Nova festival and have birthday celebrations with their families etc

But I think you’re after rise, which is not good at all.

Edited

I think you are right in that the poster is simply trying to generate more hate which is particularly sad on a day commemorating the murder of innocents caused by years of indoctrinated hate.

Instead I prefer to reflect on the innocence of four year old Ariel Bibas running care free in his Batman costume.

Awww what a lovely memory you've shared. I can just picture that x

My heartfelt thoughts those who lost loved ones, and the wider Jewish community today.

Yes back to loving imagery. Thank you

I'm a part of the dance music scene that was Nova festival. My thoughts are with everyone affected by that dreadful day.

I am/was too, not been to a rave in years but I still listen to the music a lot.

Beanosaurus · 07/10/2026 22:25

This has been on my mind all day, sending love and prayers to all 💙🤍

Have the Israeli government suspended their attacks on innocent civilians today? If not, why on earth would the protestors stop protesting?

This post is a textbook example of callousness reframed as humanity.

Yes I agree. The thread should be respectful given what it is about.

Indeed. All lives mattering a pogrom automatically makes you a piece of shit.

Thanks for this thread OP and to all the wonderful, normal, humane people who have posted on it. It’s meant a huge amount to see this support and to know so many are appalled by the sadism of Oct 7th. Ironically, the tiny number of haters on this thread, meant we could all see how firmly they were slapped down by so many on this thread. All their posts did was give a chance for the support and love for the victims of October 7th to shine through.

I’m not even Jewish, but this thread has meant so much and I know it’s meant a lot to Jewish friends. Thanks OP and thanks everyone!

If anyone has Netflix please watch series 5 of Fauda which deals specifically with the events of that day and the aftermath. A Jewish Israeli and an Arab Israeli join forces to hunt down the killers of their families who have fled to Marseilles.

We’re loving watching Fauda so thanks to the recommendation from MN. Only on season 2 so far though.

I’m not looking forward to the reconstruction of the Hamas massacre & kidnappings but quite a few episodes to watch before we get to that horrific day.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 08/10/2026 08:23

I've binge watched all five series. All the actors have actually served in the IDF.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 08/10/2026 08:26

A shameful occurrence yesterday. Masked activists went to the office of the British Board of Jewish Deputies in Camden and stood outside shouting "baby killers." Luckily swiftly arrested by police.

Disgusting behaviour.

Cowards hiding behind umbrellas and keffiyehs.

It's being turned into a movie I hear.

The irony of pretending you’re a decent, caring person when you post those words on a thread like this.

It beggars belief.

And they won’t even feel one ounce of shame.
