Why is Nigella Lawson so beautiful?

I've got such a girl crush on her, and I always have had. She's a bit mad and posh (in the best way). I love her writing and her recipes, and have been brining my Christmas turkey since she first suggested it - it is always delicious. Didn't like her dad much but presumably she did. To me that woman can do no wrong - she's the best thing to have happened to GBBO in a while. I love that she and AH get to hang out. But she is EXTRAORDINARILY beautiful. She makes my world a better place.

It’s unremarkable, now if you were to ask have you seen John Toredes eating 😱

Really? The way she puts a massive chunk on her fork and shoves the hole lot in.
Yeah Torrodes eating skills aren't great eitheri

I think that someone thinking highly of themselves is a very good thing. I encourage my DC to do exactly that.

Why on earth would you encourage the opposite?!

It's hard to be humble
When you're perfect in every way.
Each time I look in the mirror,
I get better looking each day.

To know me is to love me
I'm just one helluvva gal.
It's hard to be humble
But I'm doing the best that I can . . .

Love this song!

I don't believe you for one moment. She's very careful of public image

We lived very close to them when she was married to Charles Saatchi and her daughter was at the same school as my DCs, although older than mine. The only time I ever saw her not looking fantastic was immediately after she'd had some kind of foot surgery. I never spoke to her but she had a reputation among the parents who knew her for being quite lovely.

The poster hasn’t said she encourages anything, she just doesn’t care for self worshippers.

ClaudeHopper · 05/10/2026 17:27

I love her, but the way she eats on bake-off turns my stomach. And she talks with her mouth full. 🤢

I didn’t “spot her” in a restaurant. I was sitting next to her.

You would have to be sitting at the same table, either right next to her or directly opposite, and even then the table would have to be small for you to be in contact with her breath....so sorry, I just don't believe you.

Self worshippers? What on earth is that

I actually kind of love that there’s still someone who regards this as a cutting, clever comment.

Actually it was a spontaneous response to OP because I think Nigella might have the chutzpah to do something like this!,

I have heard that irl she is a hoot, which is endearing . May she live long and prosper and enjoy every single gobfull of Bake Off cake 🍰

I was referring to a broader sense of the phrase...why would one encourage... would probably have been clearer.

But as a pp said, 'self-worship' now?

Some people really don't like a successful, confident woman who (hopefully) is comfortable with her own worth, do they?

Sometimes when I wake up in the morning I feel like my life is a complete and utter waste and that I have nothing going for me at all. Then I come to read an OP like this and suddenly I feel better about myself and my place is in this world.

Is that you Nigella ?

Her father was massively punching. She's luckily got her mum's looks while Dominic, alas, got his dad's.

If you look at thin-era Nigel, he actually has really similar bone structure to Nigella. https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/nigella-lawson-breaks-silence-after-29630846

She looks very different in episode two. Her mouth won't work though. It's very bizarre

Goldenbear · 05/10/2026 13:41

Does she? Her parents had Ashkenazi Jewish heritage, I thought that was very well known. She doesn't look Italian.

She speaks Italian. She’s not Italian though.

Funnywonder · 05/10/2026 08:37

I agree she is very beautiful. Classically beautiful. But God, I hate the expression ‘girl crush.’ It makes me cringe from the inside out🤣 To me, it’s just a crush.

Girl crush is quite an old concept. I remember my mum (born in 1940) talking about having crushes on older girls. It just meant she really admired them and wanted to be like them. She definitely wasn’t the sort of woman to talk about a crush on a girl in a sapphic manner

ItsABatFaceThing · 07/10/2026 20:05

I like Nigella but I’ll never forget seeing the advert she did for Ffern perfume, maybe last year? Blimey. Find it if you can … she’s literally slurring her words and pissed

Frenchjamisbest · 07/10/2026 21:11

There are actually a lot of photos of Nigella online where she's looking really rough.

Yes because her parents moved there for a bit but you can tell she isn't Italian by her looks.

In fact, I think she looks very British, lots of women of that look where I come from.

Banjas · 08/10/2026 15:59

Is she a Winter in seasonal colouring ?

Waitingfordoggo · 08/10/2026 16:01

‘Why’ is a nonsensical question in this context.

Why was Stephen Hawking so clever?
Why is Stephen Marchant so tall?
Why are my eyes blue?

Genes, innit?

Although beauty is subjective to some extent anyway. I think Nigella is attractive enough but not beautiful.
