Why is Nigella Lawson so beautiful?

I've got such a girl crush on her, and I always have had. She's a bit mad and posh (in the best way). I love her writing and her recipes, and have been brining my Christmas turkey since she first suggested it - it is always delicious. Didn't like her dad much but presumably she did. To me that woman can do no wrong - she's the best thing to have happened to GBBO in a while. I love that she and AH get to hang out. But she is EXTRAORDINARILY beautiful. She makes my world a better place.

I agree, she’s beautiful. My husband can sometimes be found sheepishly watching an old episode of her cooking show, and I say “mecro wah vay” to mock him.

I used to work with a man who had fantasies about Nigella and Kirsty Allsopp!

I don't think she's attractive at all. There's something wrong with her mouth and I'd never find someone attractive who thinks so highly of themselves

Really? That’s a really sad view to hold of other women.

Why? I don't find cockiness attractive in either sex.

She’s like a walking advertisement for cake and cocaine.

Love her!
And that is hilarious 🍰💳👃

ClaudeHopper · 04/10/2026 22:22

She’s definitely very attractive. And she’s 66! She looks about 50.

I think that someone thinking highly of themselves is a very good thing. I encourage my DC to do exactly that.

Why on earth would you encourage the opposite?!

I haven’t seen any of her previous TV work, so GBBO is the first I’ve come across her and I‘m not sure I agree.
way too much plastic surgery, her face doesn’t smile when she does… also finding the eating very off putting and the accent is just weird.
She comes across as a nice person, but I definitely don’t get the obsession many seem to have with her.

You need to watch some of the old series, bearing in mind that practically every other TV food programme at the time was a bloke pontificating at length about how they were considerably more travelled, more worldly wise and authentic than those charming locals and, of course, better than everybody watching and wondering what it would actually look like to cook what was suddenly on the plates. Nothing would have jarred more than the thought of actually cooking food that a mere mortal would eat for enjoyment instead of for a sense of superiority over others. (It's also why Jamie Oliver became so famous, it was about the 'feel' but also showed food actually being prepared).

Instead of that, there was an attractive but well fed younger woman with children making food that wasn't as elitist, was full of colour and could feasibly be cobbled together without a professional chef in attendance. That doesn't change the massive lifestyle and branding aspect, but in comparison, everything looked appetising and wouldn't leave people wondering where the rest of the food was.

And yeah, she was posh, attractive and they made a thing about that she would actually eat.

She’s stunning and beautiful inside and out. Whoever cattily remarked about plastic surgeons never saw her in her youth. I’m with you, OP, she’s a treasure.

She is so beautiful and she has such an amazing voice.

To me she has a twinkle of mischief and she feels deeply and passionately for whatever or whoever has her attention. It is why she is so sensual in so many areas. She just feels and expresses herself more. And in that somehow she gives those around her permission to be themselves.

3luckystars · 04/10/2026 22:38

I think she is lovely too!!!💞

TheM55 · 04/10/2026 22:45

She gets right on my nerves. Husband loves her though. I am not even the jealous type !. Prefer lots of other women chefs that don't do the soft focus sensual camera angle type warm happy house sh1t, but if you love her, rejoice. Her pancakes recipe is good in her defence, and I bet it hasn't all been plain sailing for her.

Fairygoblin · 04/10/2026 22:52

She looks incredible for her age but I don’t see the warmth and authenticity that others feel about her. She comes across as quite self aware and pretentious to me, perpetrating the sensual aspect deliberately as a persona

Toastatdawn · 04/10/2026 22:54

I think she looks lovely, and I also think Alison Hammond is looking lovely too.

You've been brining your christmas turkey. Oooo er missus.

noodlezoodle · 04/10/2026 23:32

I love her and I don't know how she's managed to stay so warm and authentic after all the shit she's been through.

Back in 2013 a PR person called Richard Hillgrove composed a round robin email defending Charles Saatchi and sent it to numerous people in the media.

It alleges that Nigella was a drug addict and that in the supposed photos of him assaulting her, he was actually "examining Nigella Lawson's nostrils for cocaine and holding her throat to assist her focus and regain attention after she made more than one trip to the toilets away from the table outside Scott's where they were both sitting for a cigarette".

She has slurred speech now

PumpkinSeasonIsHere · 04/10/2026 23:37

SkintyMcskintface · 04/10/2026 21:05

It’s warmth and smileyness. She appears entirely authentic.

I saw her at an event where the interviewer was embarrassingly incompetent (literally could not operate a kitchen timer) and asked her the most inane questions, talking about himself wherever possible.

She was so incredibly polite and gracious, exhibiting the most amazing good manners. I don’t suffer fools gladly and I was in awe of her ability to do so. She came across as a genuinely nice, pleasant and patient person,
so classy. She saved the entire evening and it seemed very natural, not fake at all.

TheBayHorse · 04/10/2026 23:37

I like her and always felt a bit sorry for her. She lost so many people to cancer at an early age. I used to read her husband John Diamond's column when he had throat cancer. Their children must have been young when he died.

Same, I remember his columns. She has had some terrible sadness in her life.

I’ve seen her at very close quarters and on that occasion she was absolutely minging. Filthy hair and nails, grey skin, yesterday’s makeup, bad breath etc. Beautiful yes but…

Where did you see her? The image she projects is not at all her true self I suspect. I was quite shocked when I read about her cocaine problem and her personal assistants stealing from her. I think she's quite damaged and very narcissistic.

I suspect she is actually quite socially awkward. I reckon she is actually genuinely a nice person but I think she has probably had to protect herself because of all the shit she has been through. Hence the drug problem and maybe the semblance of narcissism. I dont think she is remotely a narcissist. I think she's awkward, sensitive, intelligent and self-protective against a world that has thrown a lot of shit at her.
