No agenda and no judgement, as in the title how long would it take you to drink half a bottle of white wine? One that you like.

20-30 minutes

SevenYellowHammers · 04/10/2026 19:55

Is it a competition?

ProtestantTraybakeQueen · 04/10/2026 20:02

It would go off in the fridge/be used in a risotto sooner than I’d drink that much sadly! Makes me turn red and fall asleep.

FFSItsTooHot · 04/10/2026 20:05

That's about 2 average sized glasses? I think it would take me about an hour. Probably 20 minutes for the first one,40 for the second.

ElizaToolittle · 04/10/2026 20:05

2 weeks. I don't drink. Menopause stopped all that! Makes me ill now.

alcovecupboards · 04/10/2026 20:16

Seven minutes if with my sister.

Retrogamer · 04/10/2026 20:18

I can split a bottle of wine with a friend in an hour. ..by myself maybe a couple of hours.

OrdinaryMoment · 04/10/2026 20:23

If I drank white wine (which I don’t) about 3 days. More a red wine person, but still no more than a small glass a day at most.

AmnesiacDream · 04/10/2026 20:25

I find it depends what I'm doing with my hands. If I'm watching and not also on my computer or crafting or something I could easily get through a half bottle of wine in under an hour. If I'm doing something with my hands it will take me 2+ hours. When drinking and chatting with friends, or if having wine at the cinema, I alternate alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks specifically because of this.

Weeks, as I would open it to drink one glass, then put it in the fridge and forget it existed. I am referring to a state of affairs that exists at the time of writing. I noticed the bottle again today and thought, oh yeah, that wine. But I didn't drink it.

RustySpoons88 · 04/10/2026 20:36

On weeknights, probably a couple of days. Saturday night, couple of hours.

PenelopePinkerton · 04/10/2026 20:40

we usually go through a bottle in an evening between the two of us.

Iris2020 · 04/10/2026 20:41

I would drink red but an absolute max of 2 glasses in a sitting.

FayeLP · 04/10/2026 20:42

I don’t drink at home but in the pub or with dinner in a restaurant maybe a couple of hours

BrightYellowDaffodil · 04/10/2026 20:48

Depends. Give me the bottle and a straw and it would probably be fairly quick.

About 5-10 minutes. I know I have a problem.

I also have a drink problem - I've got two hands, but only one mouth!

SunsetDrifter · 04/10/2026 20:52

I only drink prosecco rather than white wine and will have 1 or 2 champagne flutes in an evening at home, but then I might not have any for days so it sits in the fridge with a stopper in, so several days. If I was in the pub socialising or out for a meal I can happily get through several glasses over a couple of hours. I drink quite slowly compared to other people, it's often the next round and I'm still drinking the last one.

Minasama · 04/10/2026 20:59

It would depend on if I was eating a meal or out for drinks with the girls but probably a couple of hours.

BlossomValley · 03/10/2026 20:11

Half an hour.

Yep.

Summerhut2025 · 04/10/2026 21:07

Depends on the occasion, out out probably an hour, chilling in the house watching Netflix hour and a half to two hours.

We are different people.

A standard bottle is three glasses 😂

At the risk of stating the obvious, it depends on the size of the glass.

A `standard' glass - one that you would normally be served in a pub if you didn't specify the size - is 175ml, so you'd get about 4.3 glasses out of a standard 750ml bottle.

But under the Weights and Measures Act, as well as the 175ml glass (technically a medium glass) pubs must also offer a small glass, which is 125ml (hence 6 to a bottle) and a large glass, which is 250ml, and would take just 3 glasses to empty a bottle.

So you're both right!

ElleintheWoods · 04/10/2026 21:17

A few weeks - that’s about 3 glasses, isn’t it?

gullgal · 04/10/2026 21:27

30 to 40 minutes

Munchkinjack · 04/10/2026 21:27

Did half a bottle on a sat started late afternoon finished 3rd glass before bed

ScorchedEarthAdjacent · 04/10/2026 21:27

If pushed, I could drink that in under 10 mins.
