No agenda and no judgement, as in the title how long would it take you to drink half a bottle of white wine? One that you like.

3.5 days.

Katigee410 · 04/10/2026 19:10

Half an hour. Unless I really like it then about 20 minutes

envbeckyc · 04/10/2026 19:12

Two days. My Husband and I have a small glass of wine with dinner, and finish the bottle the next day (four glasses between two of us over two evenings)

Seajaye · 04/10/2026 19:13

I don't drink on my own , and only with a meal with a friend or family, but i world finish two glasses by the end of a decent meal, so about 1 hour? .

Funnywonder · 04/10/2026 19:14

Sometimes I think these questions need to be worded differently.

Maybe try … ‘If you like wine (whatever colour) and drink it from time to time, how long would it normally take you to drink half a bottle?’ Or something.

Then you wouldn’t get all the teetotallers coming along to tell you they don’t drink. Or the people who only drink wine once a decade telling you how it would take them a month to drink it. Or the people who don’t like nasty white wine and prefer red.

I know it’s a discussion, but come on.

IStillHearTheWaves · 04/10/2026 19:15

About two hours. Maybe an hour and a half.

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 04/10/2026 19:16

An hour, ish, could be less could be a bit more.

RaininSummer · 04/10/2026 19:21

Two to three days as I would have it with a meal each day.

MrsLindaBelcher · 04/10/2026 19:22

First response says it all for me. It would take me half an hour. I go through stages of drinking then not drinking for a year, so when I’m in drinking mode I’m going to enjoy it. Don’t see point in opening a bottle if I’m not going to finish it.

Zanatdy · 04/10/2026 19:24

One evening or sometimes I have 1/3 of a bottle - so whole bottle over Fri-Sun. Occasionally i’d drink half bottle but not often. I used to easily sink a bottle and half every weekend evening, but don’t drink as much these days.

Anyusernamewilldo8963 · 04/10/2026 19:25

It would depend what i was doing tbh but from an hour to over the course of an evening. I think depending if you are sat chatting or sat watching a movie or sat eating a meal for example makes a difference to how quickly you drink

BunchOfFlours · 04/10/2026 19:25

Surely it depends on the wine - some cheap and cheerful quaffing types would disappear rapidly, a nice bottle deserves to be savoured.

DierdreDaphne · 04/10/2026 19:27

A couple of evenings. But I'm old!

choccytime · 04/10/2026 19:28

First glass 10 minutes second about an hour

ThatLemonBee · 04/10/2026 19:28

Depends who I’m with , what I’m doing . If I’m eating as in having a meal a long time , if I’m chatting with a friend while nibbling it tends to flow faster

JHITRM77 · 04/10/2026 19:31

An hour

MrsBatshitRatshit · 04/10/2026 19:32

90 minutes, with a meal.

Followmeplease · 04/10/2026 19:34

After the week I’ve had? About 6 minutes. Normally a couple of hours.

fetchacloth · 04/10/2026 19:35

About 2 to 3 hours.

Why are you policing the topic, restricting who can respond? It's a perfectly framed question, when seeking information in a survey or whatever one should accept all responses and also be ready for responses that don't fit expectations!

Policing? It’s ok, don’t worry. I have no authority here😅

JustOneMoreMargarita · 04/10/2026 19:42

Anything from half an hour to a couple of hours.

tonight we had a glass with our roast at 6ish and just poured the rest of the bottle into our glasses now to drink while watching TV

OllysArmyRidesAgain · 04/10/2026 19:46

This year I’ve become an only drink when I’m out for dinner and then only 1 large glass. So if I opened a bottle at home it would probably last at least a week.

However, I was at a wedding on a hot day this summer and I think I’d inhaled a full bottle before the main course was served. I’m off on a short break tomorrow with an old friend it’s an early flight but I imagine we will be through a bottle During lunch

OnAWingannaprayer · 04/10/2026 19:47

Exactly the same - gave it up (for me it's been 12 years since) as I liked it just a bit too much 🙃! Safer / healthier to just forego xx

Yerroblemom1923 · 04/10/2026 19:51

Half an hour.... followed by the other half in the next half hour! That's why I gave it up!
