Just wondering as I never have due to horror stories. Have you ever done one and did anything weird happen?

Just for fun stories and curiosity 😁

It’s about as dangerous as playing Monopoly.

Exactly. Dim the lights, call the spirits, put your hands on the board and suddenly the dog, the iron and the motor car are all apparently being propelled around the board by dead people. Terrifying stuff. 😆😆

Really?

Why not just scroll past the thread if you don’t believe in this stuff. No need for smug remarks and shitty comments. You that bored?

IncompleteSenten · 04/10/2026 18:31

I was a kid and did one with a friend.
I asked the question, is anyone there? Knock once for yes and twice for no.

(Yes. You read that right. Yes. I really was THAT stupid 🤣🤣)

Next thing there was an almighty bang. We could feel it vibrating . We ran downstairs, screaming, ran into the kitchen to find my little sister holding one of those big old wooden mop or brush things and sporting the biggest grin you've ever seen.

The dent in the kitchen ceiling was there for 20 odd years until my parents had their kitchen redone.

Takethehuntingquiche · 04/10/2026 18:32

Yes, a group of friends and I did it around 30 years ago. We asked the name of the person and the cup moved to spell the word "kid". As a complete non believer someone must have moved it although everyone swears they didn't. We weren't a bunch of kids larking around, we were all 20 something professionals. But I still don't believe

It’s absolutely ridiculous to believe a silly board game can summon spirits. It’s a piece of cardboard with a plastic pointer on it, not a supernatural telecommunications device.

Some things deserve to be taken seriously and this isn’t one of them. It needs considerably more ridicule because sometimes laughing at nonsense is exactly how you stop it being treated as fact. In fact the only scientific certainty about Ouija boards is the ideomotor effect.

PeppyMintCat · 04/10/2026 19:00

Does anyone remember the Toffee crisp advert, where they ask 'is anybody there' and a Toffee Crisp wrapper floats down 😁

You’re perfectly entitled to have your own opinion and to express it, even if it differs with others and sucks the joy from a thread.

This, though, suggests a tendency to seek to control the thoughts, beliefs and speech of others. You don’t have that right. It needs considerably more ridicule because sometimes laughing at nonsense is exactly how you stop it being treated as fact.

WhatAnExcellentDayForAnExorcism · 04/10/2026 19:07

I’ve never done one. I probably never will. And despite the impression my username may give, I don’t believe that you can talk to the dead with them or that there is anything remotely supernatural about it. I do however believe that they can do very real harm to people who are already vulnerable.

I had a friend, who I’d known since high school, he was my best friend through those years. Unfortunately he had a lot bad things happen
to him. He was abused as a child by a family member and again as an adult by a much older partner, he had a pretty serious drinking problem from being a teenager, he was quite clearly severely depressed and he would routinely mess about with that sort of thing whilst drunk and I really do believe it had an effect on him, psychologically. He’d keep them around the house, ones he’d made himself out of mirrors and he put a lot of weight on the things that they would ‘say’. Sadly despite us all trying to help
him, he didn’t make it out of his 30’s. I think of him often. I should say here this is in no way a ‘ouija boards killed my friend’ post, it was depression and drinking that did that. But they certainly didn’t help him and they did fuel a lot of his delusions. And because of that I don’t think they are something to be played with.

TrilbyFoot · 04/10/2026 18:21

Why would the supernatural pit of flame to which child killers are condemned be equipped with an escape portal that relies on a board game pretty much exclusively played by bored teenagers winding one another up?

Also, I bet ouija board use has gone into terminal decline with the advent of smartphones. Teenagers are choosing to scroll TikToks rather than putting their finger on a glass and trying to spell CHLOE U R GUNNA BE 1ST 2 DIE.

It's meant to open a portal

We all have our opinions on things and beliefs but there’s no need to ridicule something someone else believes in? I mean I don’t believe there is a god, heaven or hell, I think religion is a load of shite but… I don’t go belittling people about it and taking the piss out of them for them it and I certainly don’t deliberately go on a thread to do that and laugh and try and make them feel silly for believing in something they wish too. It’s called having a little respect for someone else’s beliefs and opinions. If you simply don’t believe in this then don’t fucking comment on the thread with your shitty comments and smug remarks. Scroll on…. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Honestly let people be? Why be so nasty about something, why can’t people just scroll past and not have to pipe up and be rude? 🤦🏼‍♀️🙄

Just to remind everyone in this thread that it’s a thread asking if you had ever done an Ouiija board and if anything happened not asking if you think it’s all bullshit. Just thought I’d put that there as some people are just mocking this thread and there is no need for it, if you don’t believe in this stuff then just scroll past the thread ffs 🤦🏼‍♀️

Exactly this

Yes, as a teen and it didn't end well. Never again

Pollqueen · 04/10/2026 19:18

Abd to add, I don't belive in ghosts, spirits etc but that is something I would never mess with again

What happened? Or would you rather not say? It's fine if you don't.

I did. Nothing happened

Reason for that is that it can exacerbate and trigger existing mental fragility and issues, and other people who won't touch it are skeptical. The skeptic writer James Randi famously offered one million US dollars to anyone who can prove paranormal activity under scientific conditions. The prize remains unclaimed.

Scratch away at anyone energetically promoting paranormal activity and you'll find someone desperate for attention, or most often, a scammer.

Have you ever watched help! My house is haunted?

Yes, but if there’s some kind of supernatural agency that allocates child killers etc to a fiery pit in the afterlife, why would there be some kind of portal that would allow them to escape via some teenagers pushing a glass around on a table top?

My mum did one in the 70s in a room above a pub. They all saw a face at the window one storey up.

The exact same thing happened to a close family member of mine, plus communication allegedly from a deceased loved one ,but what it asked of them we know it was not who it said it was .
It happened a very long time ago and they will never speak of it.
My husband also had an experience after of using one at school, he found a grave stone from the info the board told him, he and his mates had a bollocking from the head and the whole school had a talking to about the dangers of a board.
Both people are calm and very down to earth , the have never touched one since and strongly advice against using one .
It completely fascinates me and i would love to have a go but i think there is too much unknown out there so i won't.

cherryicecreamisnice · 05/10/2026 07:53

I watched the Deren Brown Seance last night, it doesn’t debunk a thing. His talent is making people believe things are happening when it’s all contrived by him. That doesn’t mean visitations don’t happen.

Because the messages that come through aren't from human souls who are wandering the earth looking for repose.
They are from entities that never have been human who set out to lead humans astray.

ITMA2000 · 03/10/2026 22:29

It is nonsense but weird. It is like winning the lottery - 3 million to one and then your husband's corpse turns up when your gas gets faulty. How many thousands of Ukraine families will have to go through with this this winter because of Trumps BFF?

Eh?

Well, @hourglass2 thinks differently, that they’re the condemned souls of evil dead humans trying to get out of hell by ‘opening a portal’.

Of course, the other possibility is that the ‘messages’ are from whoever else has a finger on the glass and is trying to freak you out.

Other people can believe whatever they want, I'm not in control of that - and neither would I want to be.
My belief, for what it's worth, is that whatever makes itself known via a Ouija Board is probably a low-level demon.
The souls of our deceased loved ones are in one of three places ; either in Heaven with Our Lord, In Purgatory awaiting entrance to Heaven (where they will benefit from our prayers) or in Hell where no-one can help them.
They are not wandering the earth trying to make contact with humans.
