Food or drink you wish was available but isn't.

I'm not talking about discontinued stuff more items that just have never been invented/available.

For me it would be a non carbonated original Coca-cola.

I usually just leave the top off for a few days to get the desired flatness but sometimes I'd just love to pop into a shop a grab an ice cold flat coke.

Weird, I know but that's the one food/drink I'd really wish was readily available.

There was a trend on Tik Tok recently of foods people wish were available and one was a lemon meringue version of Tunnock's Tea Cakes - I'd love that too.

What would be on your wish list?

Spicy orange juice in big bottles.

I LOVE M&S hotshots but at nearly £2 for half a swig they're just not economical. I want them in a litre bottle.

They have this Bechamel powder in French supermarkets. The brand is Maizena if you ever visit or ask a friend to pick some up. It's very good!

It's palm oil and flour - it's just like buying a packet white sauce mix.

This should really be makeable, surely? Can you explain how you would like it to be different to bouillon? I want to try!!!

I'm thinking just a tea bag with savoury herbs and bits of dried veg instead of the fruit and so on you get in your usual herbal tea.
No long boiling involved so not like a stock. Add salt and pepper, lemon juice, etc, at your pleasure.

Chalky sweets that are mint flavoured. You know like candy cigarettes or those swizzlers lollies or lovehearts?

But minty.

Both minty stuff and chalky stuff is a pregnancy craving for me and I wish there was something that satisfied. Rennies do the trick but obvs can't have more than a couple of those a day.

Scottish rock comes in a minty flavour and I think it might be something you’d like.

Scottish rock isn’t hard like Blackpool rock.

Have you tried Sage tea?

Calorie free tasty chocolate

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 03/10/2026 19:02

@HappyViewer yes, it's still too sweet, at least the ones I've had from shops. There's always something fruity in things.

Pacers, they used to be a thing but its been decades since they were, I still crave them

I loved Pacers!

Lactose free mille feuille and custard tarts

More uncarbonated drinks that aren't fruit juice

DustyMaiden · 03/10/2026 20:34

@StressyMcStressFace my DM drank mint cordial and lemonade which is similar.

AlicePottery · 03/10/2026 21:32

Crisp flavouring, in a pack like sherbert that you can dip whatever you like in (breadstick, carrot, a finger)

PrincessHoneysuckle · 03/10/2026 21:33

Alchohol that doesn't dehydrate you or make you feel crap the next day

That was my pregnancy craving and honestly ate many many Renee’s a day. I used to love crunching them with my back teeth. I would also love hearts, refreshers - anything chalky as you say. After he was born I thought to myself while still in my hospital bed ‘ooh I’ll just see if I still want a Renee’ and the craving had instantly gone. Weird.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/10/2026 21:40

@StressyMcStressFace there’s also a mint and elderflower trip drink which if I recall was nice. I like the mint chill sprite. You could add a drop of peppermint essence into a drink though, maybe a Fanta lemon ? I love mint flavour but don’t like actual mint which is weird

These

God I miss them. Not sugary but fruity. Hard and chewy

Food or drink you wish was available but isn't.

90% dark chocolate with mint

Tea that not only is decaf but also has fluoride and tannins removed. Damn hypothyroidism.

M&S recently started an 85% dark chocolate with mint. Not quite at the 90% level but it is very good.

Newstartplease24 · 03/10/2026 22:09

Like onigiri, but with potato. In normal shops like Greggs. It would have that toasted potato cake flavour on the outside and it would be kind of like a potato turnover with delicious fillings like chicken and leek inside. Messy but yum. A lovely stretchy cheese and onion one.

Please tell me where! I am a fruit gum fan and I can rate everyone from every shop but nothing beats these

I want cake, biscuit, sweets and deserts with real sugar and fat but made in such a way that your body can’t absorb the calories from those, nor do they have any effect on your health like spiking blood sugar

As I remember they made stuff with fat that wasn't absorbed at one point. The problem was that the fat went straight through and caused faecal leakage so they never went mainstream .

simpsonthecat · 03/10/2026 22:17

Oh hang on I am misguided, I think I tried them somewhere and they were all pasty and horrible and not clear sharp fruit

Last time I was able to somehow angle a Rennie vertically between my molars and make it sort of squeak from friction before it crunched. It was divine.

One of the things I miss most when I'm not in Japan is the lack of bottled teas. Here you can go into any supermarket or convenience store and get bottled green tea, jasmine tea, or barley tea, all of which are sugar free and not bubbled. Coffee too. If you want something sweet they also have milk tea with sugar and coffees with milk and sugar, but they're way less sickly than the bottled Starbucks stuff.

Most places will have hot and cold cabinets so you can decide whether you want a warm or cool drink. It's great.

Walkacrossthesand · 03/10/2026 23:44

Pepsi did a Pepsi max with ginger once, it was divine but must have failed the marketing test & it disappeared.
liquorice chocolate, liquorice ice cream - fed up with only having them when I go to Sweden!
